Romantic Retreat: This fantastically located, atmospheric guest house was custom designed by the owner. This intimate home is ideal for two and perhaps a well behaved canine! Take a hop and a skip down the street to the cliffs of Pleasure Point, where you can view the surfers down below while you walk . After your stroll, you can rinse off in the outdoor shower before you soak in the bubbling cedarwood hot tub. Enjoy the privacy, the curling leaves of the pepper tree, and the lovely music of the wind chimes. Swing in a hammock as you cool off. There is a small hot tub deck and a larger side deck ideal for lunch in the sunshine.
The bungalow boasts Spanish tile floors, a romantic sleeping loft with sky lights, a custom built desk and bookshelf, atmospheric lighting on dimmers, many books of poetry and about spirituality. The feeling of the house is peaceful and the neighborhood quiet. We have several DVDs, many of them romantic comedies.
You can walk to nearby 41st Ave. to great cafes and restaurants, or walk or drive to picturesque Capitola Village for unique stores and boutiques.
The house and location are great for people wanting a peaceful atmosphere. Great feeling house for reading, meditating, writing and contemplation. The deck has sun all year round when it is sunny out. It is wonderful to walk out the door and be able to walk along the beach during minus tide times, or to walk a little further to beaches nearby. It is an easy walk to picturesque Capitola Village for those who like to walk, and Santa Cruz has great hiking trails as well as awesome beaches.

This was a cute little studio loft that is perfect for a couple. We really enjoyed the location near the beach and many really great restaurants. Suda was delicious! The hot tub and outdoor areas are just perfect. The sleeping loft was really cozy and comfortable. Below the loft, there is a place to put your clothes but it's not meant for people taller than 6ft. There is a cute kitchen with all the spices you ever need and a wonderful bathroom. Sita was very accommodating to our needs. I would stay for a week if I could afford it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This cottage is perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood and off the main path of Santa Cruz, but close to some really great cafe's, restaurants, and the beach! It's totally dialed in for two people to get away from it all and slow it down. The hot tub works great, and they have all the basic amenities you need. The personality of the owners really comes through in their fun little retreat, and they were unbelievably responsive and checked in on us during our weekend. Can't really ask for more!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our weekend stay in this little romantic cottage in Santa Cruz was just what we needed as the perfect vacation from our vacation. The elegance, simplicity, bright colors, and dappled sunlight in and around this little paradise for two was the perfect inspiration for ending our 19 day trip on a high note. My husband and I stayed here after several particularly stressful weeks. The space was a magical retreat to restore and nourish our selves. When we ate lunch on the front patio, next to the water feature, the scent of jasmine filled the air and hummingbirds dipped over our heads. The gardens are lovingly tended and I felt like I was in a fairy cottage. The loft bedroom hosts a queen-sized bed and there are is an easy short staircase for access (not a hard to maneuver ladder.) The house is compact but well thought out and there is plenty of space for two. The back patio had my favorite feature - a redwood hot tub for two that we went in every day. My husband and I would welcome the morning fog or look at the night sky in complete privacy. Fresh flowers in little vases greeted our arrival and we felt like welcome friends. This was truly a sanctuary for us. (Also want to add that the neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful and it's a very short walk to the beach and an easy walk to cafes.)Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

About the owner: My husband and I are retired psychotherapists and I am a yoga teacher. We built our guest house for us and our doggies to live in when we aren't traveling in our van. We love nature, hiking and our doggies. We are also interested in spirituality and meditation. Our home is very conducive to meditation. Our gardens are beautiful, and we love our cedar hot tub and our deck that gets sun all day long. Our little loft is cozy and romantic and we can hear the ocean. We also love that we can walk to the beach, and to restaurants and cafes.
Why the Owner Chose Santa Cruz:
We love Santa Cruz, the ocean and beaches, the small town feel and the friendliness! We also love the health oriented restaurants, the accessibility of great hiking and yoga classes.
