The Seagrass property offers fine architecture in a lovely location with many amenities.
Just built in 2011 by one of Savannah's best home-builders, Seagrass's interior was designed by Tybee's own Jane Coslick.
The house is packed with fine details, such as wainscoting throughout, hardwood floors, and glass doorknobs. The painted cottage furnishings are elegant but comfortable.
The first floor features an open floor plan that unites the living room, dining room, and kitchen. A screened porch faces the marsh. Outside, the ground-level pool grotto features both covered and open seating. The four bedrooms (3 upstairs, 1 downstairs) are generous and have good views.
The house faces a gorgeous marsh with no houses on the other shore. From the screened porch you will see egrets, pelicans, sea grass, and palm trees.
It's a short walk to the beach. A small child can do it in 10 minutes, mostly on a car-free sandy track.
The pool will keep the young ones happy. (Our daughter sometimes insists that we return from the beach to play in the pool!)
The outdoor shower has doors that open to the marsh, so you can commune with nature while washing off salt and sand.
The kitchen is equipped to owners' standards. Dishes and glasses were selected with care, and there is a full set of cooking utensils and all appliances.
The house's many windows provide air and light, even as the overhanging roof keeps things shady. Marsh breezes cool the screened porch and the pool grotto.
You can enjoy the great views from the bedrooms, the porch, the kitchen -- and even from the pool and the outdoor shower.
There is a secluded place for everyone in the house, including Mom. The master bathroom has a soaker tub, and the marsh-facing bedroom has an easy chair for enjoying the view - perfect for a quiet glass of tea.
The electronics include HDTV downstairs, DVD-TV upstairs, stereo, and broadband wi-fi. The bookshelves offer fun reading, including plenty of kids' books.
The house sits close to Tybee’s arts district, with its boutiques, galleries, and dining. Just a short walk away are the Tybee Wedding Chapel and three family restaurants: Huc-a-Poo’s, Gerald’s BBQ, and Vicki's.
The four bedrooms provide lots of sleeping space. Beds are: - Queen bed in the master (which has awesome views) - Queen bed in the “tree house room” (facing the live oak canopy) - Single-above-double bunk bed in the marsh-view room - Trundle bed (expands to 2 single beds or 1 King bed) in the downstairs bedroom - (the big couch in the LR comfortably sleeps one person, and the other couch opens to a double bed.)
There are two full baths upstairs and a powder room downstairs. At ground level are the outdoor shower and a hose for rinsing sandy feet.
The covered parking fits two cars, with more parking alongside the house.
We built this house for our own use, so the quality is higher than most rental properties.

A bike rental shop (Tim's) is 3 blocks away. We highly recommend using bikes as your main transport on Tybee; it makes the vacation magical.

About the owner: We built this house in 2011. Our goal was to create a simple and happy living space by the marsh and sea.
Why the Owner Chose Tybee Island: Tybee is a lovely barrier island with wide beaches and serene marshes. As a town it has a lot of unique restaurants and a bicycle culture. As a bonus, it is located just outside of one of America's most beautiful cities. It combines the best of island living and nearby urban sophistication.
The Unique Benefits at this House: This is a very high-quality property in a secluded location. It is a bit fancier than what Tybee rentals usually offer, but it still has a casual feel. And the pool and outdoor shower are great fun!
Note that Soda Rock Lane is so small that it does not even show up on Google maps! We think that is a good thing.
