A wonderfull stay
A wonderfull stay
We had a wonderfull stay at Farrington Pound. We were 6 adults and 3 children and everybody simply loved the place. Just as an example of the "magic touch" of the cabin and the surrondings : we expected that the children would ask to go to the beach at least one day or two... but they never did ! They were simply happy where they were... And the adults as well. A beautifull lake, a forest all around you, a welcomming cabin with everything you need, no immediate neighbors : what else to ask for ? We recommend that place to anyone wanting plenty of simming, of canoeing and kayaking, of fishing and, most of all, of quiet and peace.

Owner response: Jacques, Thank you for the wonderful review! We are so happy that you and your family enjoyed the cabin. Hope to see you again! Leslie
This house was everything it said in the listing and much more. We were there with a group of adults and children and it was perfect for everyone. The house is huge, with plenty of room to spread out. The firepit by the lake is great, and the dock and swim float provided hours of entertainment. Huge, airy windows allowed a great cross breeze, and everything was in perfect/like new condition. Really cant say enough about the home or its owners- we'll definitely be back! Finally, Ebenezer's Pub very close by is one of the best beer bars in america (really)- needs to be experienced!

Wonderful Maine Lake Experience!
Wonderful Maine Lake Experience!
It's hard to know what exactly a cabin like this will "feel" like until you are there, and my guests and I were blown away when we arrived! First, the drive North was really pleasant and the general area of the cabin is perfect: a pretty, small town that has more than enough to do (though there really isn't a need to leave the property!) and stores for supplies. The property, while a 15min drive to town, was in a much more private location than I expected - a great surprise! The site is well maintained and had everything we needed, from chairs to canoes to grilling supplies. And, of course, it sits right on a really pretty, serene lake. Both the private boat dock and diving dock were well built and maintained, and they made for wonderful places to sit and watch the fish rise and the sun set. After dark, the lakeside fire pit created hours of great conversation and peaceful reflection. The cabin itself went so far beyond my expectations that I was shocked it was a rental property. Very well built, super-well maintained, with modern appliances and a rustic feel. The kitchen was better than my kitchen at home, the beds softer, the master bedroom more luxurious, and the open, beam-strung ceilings made it difficult to leave the cabin for the lake. The pool table, fireplace, and sheltered, outdoor hot tub (with panoramic lake view!) made us almost happy it rained the first day. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for something a bit nicer and more "domestic" than the typical Maine camp, without sacrificing the sense of privacy or interaction with the outdoors. It's perfect for a group of friends, a family, or a couple (though it will feel very large with just two people). The property isn't as secluded as other places I've stayed in Maine, but for its easy-to-access location within 3hrs of Boston, its proximity to a nice town, and its luxuriously comfortable cabin, I can't imagine anyone wanting more.

So many wonderful things to say. First, Leslie was great to work with! Thank you! Your home is beautiful! You have everything you could possibly need. We loved the decor, the bed was so comfortable. Waking up to that view everyday is something I could easily get used to! We relaxed by the fire, enjoyed the hot tub, watched a movie from the movie library, and even played some pool. We loved everything, right down to the silverware, how cool! We rent quite often from Homeaway, your home is by far our favorite! We will rent again for sure! Thank you for letting us stay!!

We had a great time staying at this house. Spacious; very comfortable; great views of the lake. The new screened porch of the living room was my favorite room, just to sit and look out on the lake. The house is at the end of the lake, which is about 1/2 of a mile by 1/4 mile, so you get a beautiful view of the whole lake, from several rooms. There are not many homes on the lake, so it is very private.

Beautiful Farrington Pond
Beautiful Farrington Pond
This is a lovely cottage with lots of space for various activities. The pond and dock were perfect - the water deep enough and warm enough for comfortable swimming. There is plenty to do in the area if you are into hiking, fishing and kayacking. North Conway is very close although that is not our scene. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Great for our family of grown children, signifncant others and our parents to come an go for a few days at a time. The owners answered all of our questions promptly and were very helpful with suggestions about restaurants and activities. Totally wonderful vacation.

Magical, Charming and Practically Perfect
Magical, Charming and Practically Perfect
Our family has stayed in this home several times, and each time came away refreshed, renewed and uplifted. The cabin itself is charming, feeling like Ralph Lauren actually furnished it. It has plenty of stretching out space so that everyone has a place of his or her own. And there are many areas where a family comes together to play games, enjoy the fire, or sit by the pond. When we were there we kayaked, climbed mountains, picked blueberries, swam, played games, went to town, and visited scenic spots around the area. We even went to the drive in movies with our family one night. This is the kind of place where one is simply happy to be. We are goers, and yet when we get here, it feels wonderful to simply cook, sit by the fire, go for a hike, go to Ebeneezers for drinks and food or follow the loons around the pond. For a Rockwellian week, stay here. I know that our children and we hope to visit again.
