The property is in the small village of Lecchi in Chianti, in the centre of the Chianti Region, The village is close to Gaiole in Chianti (4 kilometers), Siena (15 kilometers)and Florence (60 kilometres), within one of the most beautiful areas of Italy, with a natural landscape inhabited by old historical towns, castles, and old churches. The area offers excellent restaurants, wine tasting spots, and spectacular food. The countryside offers beautiful walks and bike tours.
Day trips could be easly done to Florence, San Giminiano, Montalcino, Perugia and Assisi (approx 1 h.). Rome is three hours away by car. Nearby train station is in Siena. Nearby airports are in Florence and Pisa.
The property is inside the village of Lecchi, a very quite and pictoresque little settlement that dates back to the Xth Century. The village is located on the top of a hill with open views towards the countryside. It has approx. 150 permanent residents. It offers all necessary amenities, including a food store, a bar and wine tasting cellar, one restaurant and a pottery shop. All other facilities (banks, post office,etc.) are to be found in Gaiole.
The property is composed by a three storey stone house built in the XVIIth century and completely renovated in Spring 2004. The building has wooden ceilings with terracotta floors and thick stone walls. It contains two separate apartments at two different levels, lovely decorated, with old and antique furniture and objects and huge raised fireplaces. The house is normally used by the owners during Winter months.
Each apartment has a large living room, two large double bedrooms facing the garden (one with a double bed and one with two single beds), a kitchen with old and large fireplaces, one bathroom with a bath tub. The ground floor is communal and has direct access to a veranda and garden with a spectacular view of the countryside.
Each apartment has its own private entrance and is fully-equipped (linen, towels, blankets, etc.). A cleaning departure fee of 50 Euro is required.
The garden has large trees that provide shade. It is terraced with stone walls and includes a new swimming pool with a large sun deck in the middle of olive trees.
The house has been published in a specialized architectural magazine as example of high quality restoration.
