Location: Los Chivos, Vieques Island, Puerto Rico, Caribbean (10 minutes from the Vieques Airport)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 2 Baths (Sleeps 5-7)
Keywords: House
With banana, mango, papaya, pinapple, passion and bread fruit, avocado and lemon trees surrounding the house, we decided to name it "Los Frutales," Spanish for "The Fruit Trees."
The house and pool are perched on a dramatic hillside overlooking an expanse of government protected forests and the world famous Bioluminescent Bays. Beyond is a breathtaking, panoramic view of the Caribbean with St. Croix on the horizon, some 45 miles in the distance.
We are located minutes from the spectacular and unpopulated beaches of the southern shore: Media Luna, Blue Beach, Sun Bay, Red Beach and Navio Beach where "Lord of the Flies" was filmed in the 1960's.
The two level, three-bedroom house is set on a little over one acre. It features two completely separate living areas: Upstairs has two bedrooms - a master bedroom with a queen, and a guest room with two twins. It has a bath, fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining area and screened-in porch.
The roof has been recently converted to deck for sunning and dining.
The downstairs living room has DirectTV and DVD. The bedroom has a queen. An adjacent, semi-private bedroom has a twin. There is an additional twin in the living room. The unit has a full bath and kitchen.
The outdoor dining area is set in our courtyard garden of bougainvillea and palms.
The view from the pool is thrilling. Sitting on the deck in zero gravity chaise lounge chairs with a cold drink in hand, we are stunned by the spectacular view of the forests and sea - the sun and moon and stars.
The house has refreshing cross ventilation from the prevailing trade winds. The bedrooms are air conditioned for cool sleeping on hot nights.
For those of us who need to stay connected to the world, there is a super fast broadband Wi-Fi network along with an Ethernet connection.
Our house manager meets visitors at the airport, helps with car rental arrangements, gives an introduction to the island and can provide deliveries of all sorts of provisions, gourmet foods, spirits and wines.
Other amenities include a Denon-powered, three-zone Bose speaker sound system with iPod dock, 5.8 GHz phone system, linens, towels, beach chairs & umbrella, outdoor gas grill and a laundry room with both washer and dryer.
Activities nearby the house include swimming, sailing, Ecotours, snorkeling, biking, sea kayaking, hiking, nature walks, bird watching, fine and casual dining and excursions to bars reminiscent of Hemingway’s Havana of the 40’s.
No children under 8, please and maximum number of guests is 7. And no smoking, please.

We loved Los Frutales!!! It's a GREAT house on a GREAT island. It had everything we needed..and more. We soaked up the view by the pool during morning coffee, and after the beach in the evening ...very yummy! The house is really comfortable, beautiful and spacious (we were six adults and a baby with plenty of room). Thank You!!! We hope to go back soon...Alison.

Thank you for a wonderful time at Los Frutales. We loved the house and the surrounding area, especially the magical views everywhere. We cherish those early afternoons sitting at the pool area, drinking our gin & tonics and just absorbing stunning scenery and immaculate landscape. Of course, dozing off in zero gravity chairs wasn’t bad either. We can’t wait to come back for more...

Los Frutales is a lovely place to experience the best of Puerto Rico. The house itself is lovely with a comfortable and pleasing lay out - places for privacy and community. It also has all the amenties for cooking, laundry, plus air conditioning. The outside area has a lovely view of a bioluminesent bay, especially from the swimming pool. There is also a functional outdoor shower where you may clean up after the beach and take in a great view. From the house you are near several entertaining diversions: the beach, the village, with several nice restaurants, and the bioluminescent bay where we had an excellent and unforgetable experience swimming with the fishies.

The house is very well situated up on a ridge affording a tremendous view of a bioluminesent bay. This view adds an ever present sense of tranquility to one's self. It sets the pace for anyone's vacation. The house is extremely comfortable with air-conditioning, swimming pool and laundry facility. The outdoor shower is an added bonus when just returning from the beach. All in all my stay at this Vieques home was one of my most relaxing vacations ever. When given the opportunity, I will return for sure.

Los Frutales was the perfect house for our group of 6 friends (3 couples)...We wished we could have stayed longer and hope to visit again next year. The views from the bedrooms and the pool are gorgeous...The house is incredibly comfortable, you will truly feel like a welcomed guest in their home. It is an amazing location, close to the beaches, but on the hillside with a lot of greenery to enjoy. We made mango margaritas picked fresh from the yard...and barbequed almost every night. The house also has everything you need for a perfect day at the beach--chairs, coolers, umbrellas. Andy gave us great advice including restaurants, kayak tours and beaches. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

What a wonderful house...cool, roomy, delightful. And the terrace and swimming pool - overlooking the bays and the sea (with St. Croix faintly visible in the distance)- are a joy! All of the local beaches are fantastic, the people are warm and friendly -- all in all, a holiday to be treasured!

My wife and I had the best time at the Plesser's house in Vieques! It's the most relaxing place I've ever rented. You can trip around the island, explore the beaches, and return for the late day sun by the pool. Or mix up a blender full of drinks and stay by the pool all day! I can't recommend it enough.

Les Fruitales is a great place to stay on a truly phenomenal island. The beaches are some of the nicest you'll find anywhere, and best of all, at times, you'll have them all to yourself. The house itself is perfect for either a family, or two to three couples, and the breezes keep it cool.
