My wife and I were looking to take a short honeymoon right after our wedding. We found this cottage and couldn't have been happier with our decision! We were less than 10 minutes from downtown Woodstock and less than 5 minutes to Suicide 6 mountain. The cabin was awesome to stay in! The woodstove kept the entire house warm and toasty, the view was gorgeous and to get to the cabin itself you walk over an awesome bridge next to a waterfall! The owners learned that it was our honeymoon and we were thrilled to see a nice bottle of champagne and a card...It was a great little touch.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My family and I just finished a lovely stay at this perfect cabin. We were absolutely charmed by every aspect of this place, from the pond in which we swam and canoed every day, to the small waterfall that runs through the property, to the beautifully appointed cabin with fantastic views, great linens and a well-stocked kitchen. We would highly recommend this property for anyone who wants a great getaway.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was a perfect getaway cabin with a great swimming lake which we used every day.great cabin, clean and very well equipped but don't expect any TV or telephone reception. ( normally not a problem for us but husband missed the Olympic coverage!).It would have been better if the owners had removed the old beer cans from the waterfall's pool - they had clearly been there for some time and formed a not very positive first impression. However - overall - it was a great place and we had a great time.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.

We would like to clarify that our property listing clearly states (and has always stated) in the Amenities/Entertainment section that there is no cable and that we have a DVD library for use with the television. In addition, we take great care to make certain that the grounds and interior of the cabin are impeccable. We apologise for issue with the beer cans. There are multiple rivers and a pond which feed into the waterfall and it is impossible for us to control any stray materials which have the "trinkle down effect". We will be sure to have these cans removed today. Thank you again for your response and feedback.

We enjoyed our stay at this secluded cabin! The space was lovely-with a great pond and waterfall to explore. My toddler enjoyed all of the toys put out by the owners and catching frogs nearby. It was a hot weekend, but the trees and waterfall was more than enough to keep the nights comfortable. The cabin is close to a lot of great sites, so we never had to go far for things to do and there was a binder in the cabin that outlined much of it to help you decide. All in all a great stay and we'd definitely consider returning next time we need to get away from it all!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I stayed here on numerous occasions at different times of the year and loved it every time! The cabin has an open layout with a spacious family room, dining area and kitchen. There is also a beautiful fireplace which we enjoyed using in the winter! My kids loved the upstairs loft area and the "very cool"staircase. The views are absolutely beautiful! Off to the side there is a cascading waterfall, a river in the front plus a pond for ice skating! We also loved the proximity to Woodstock and the nearby ski areas. The cabin was very clean throughout. I would highly recommend this property!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This property was exactly what I was looking for...a quiet, comfortable, beautiful spot to relax and explore the outdoors. From hiking/biking to reading in the hammock listening to the waterfall, all of my needs were met. The town is very quaint and has several amazing restaurants. The owners are a wonderful family willing to go above and beyond to help. I highly recommend this little piece of heaven to anyone looking for a getaway!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: We love to travel within the US and abroad, often using VRBO for our own travel bookings, most recently in the Exumas. We are an active family, enjoying the many things to do in the great outdoors of the Woodstock/Barnard area. Skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, horseback riding and swimming are among our favorites.
Why the Owner Chose Barnard:
My husband grew up in Woodstock and we couldn't imagine a better place to escape from our busy life in Boston. His parents live at the property next door and are the caretakers of the cabin, ensuring all your needs are met.
We got engaged here on the top of Mt. Tom and have created many priceless memories in this idyllic setting.

Our cabin is private, yet within a 15 minute drive to the town of Woodstock, Quechee, Mt. Tom and Suicide Six.
There are plenty of activities to do right outside the cabin. You are welcome to use our snowshoes, canoe and chairs/floats etc. to swim in the pond. We are a short and beautiful walk away from Lime Pond.
There are numerous wonderful restaurants and seasonal activities to enjoy. We are happy to suggest different dining options to you. They range from upscale to casual family pizza restaurants. Some
