My mom, 2 sisters and I celebrated my 40th birthday in this beautiful townhome (6-16 thru 6-19). The trip was a gift from my husband. He did a great job picking this townhome out for us. It was super clean and very cozy!! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this townhome!

What a charming place

Guest: Susan (Miami, FL)
Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 05/14/11

Charming mix of antiques and contemporary upgrades in the kitchen, baths, etc. I chose the property based on the previous reviews. They were very helpful in making the decision of where to stay. My college friend and I are enjoying the comfort of space, convenience, and a "home" feel to celebrate another birthday milestone. The owner couldn't have been more responsive and timely in getting arrangements finalized. His ability to accept a two night stay (premium price, but worth it) sealed the deal. Keep in mind 2 pm check-in when making arrival plans. Street parking requires good parallel parking skills!

A perfect place

My wife and I took my mother-n-law to Savannah for our first time there. At first we thought of renting 2 rooms in a few hotels in the Historic section of Savannah. Then since that would be too expensive I looked at VRBO. We had used VRBO twice before and had great success. We found this place to be the perfect place. Our location was a block from Forsyth Park. Walking distance to the river and anywhere in Historic Savannah. The stop for the bus free fare is a block away to take you all through the historic section. The owners Larry and Betsy have truely made this house a wonderful place to stay and enjoy Savannah.

House EXCEEDED our expectations!

From the time we first started working with Larry and Betsy we were very impressed with their professionalism, their passion for Savannah and their genuine personalities. The house is a true reflection of these things the house is SO CLEAN! My husband and I are hotel snobs and will not stay below a 4 star and were so impressed with how clean the house was, how large the rooms were and the amazing condition everything was in. The house was so well taken care of and you really felt very at home in this house. They had beach supplies, washer and dryer, the courtyard was beautiful our puppy loved it! Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms which is a big plus. We were just blown away by the location, standing at the front door you see the fountain at Forsyth Park. I could go on and on about how much we loved the house and the owners:) We spent most days at Tybee Island which is a beautiful beach, so clean and not commercial at all. It was so relaxing to spend the days there and then went into the city in the evenings. We were very happy with it and would not even think about staying anywhere else our goal is to make it an annual vacation spot!

Wonderful Location and Owners, Beautiful House

Date of Stay: 06/14/10 Review Submitted: 04/06/11

We stayed in this charming townhouse for a week in June 2010 with our 8-year-old twins and their 5-year-old sister. It was only the 2nd time we'd been to Savannah and our first time renting a historic home. I was apprehensive to say the least. From the moment we started the process, however, Larry (the owner) was fantastic. He answered every question, sent us a packet of fun stuff to do with the kids, and was generally as helpful as could be. He accommodated us in every way possible. The house itself was beautiful, filled with period pieces and details and stocked with books on the area. The neighborhood was lovely, and free parking was never an issue--important because we had to drive the older kids to camp every day. That said, when going places in the city, we didn't ONCE drive--the location is ideal, and we could walk to City Market, the River, any place in the historic district we wanted to go. Perhaps the most charming aspect of this utterly charming house is that you can walk out the front door, look to your left, and see the famous fountain of Forsythe Park. Our kids were delighted by the flowers and ferns in the house courtyard. They loved wandering the historic district and romping in Forsythe Park. My husband and I enjoyed the romance of the city, which is strong enough to shine through the presence of three kids! Savannah is a lovely city, and this house and its kind and helpful owners will let you enjoy it to the fullest. I've recommended it to everyone I know who's going to Savannah.

Wow, what a great place to spend with friends on our first trip to Savannah. We could walk everywhere and found Six Pence pub/restaurant a very nice stopping off spot to rest and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. The Trolley tour, the Riverboat tour and Tybee Island were just a few things we did in our 3 days. The Townhouse was the perfect place to have our coffee in the mornings on the patio and the perfect place to put our feet up at the end of a long day. It met all our needs and had all the comforts of home. Thank you Larry for sharing your beautiful house with us. Kate, Gordy, Margaret & Gary

What a fun weekend we had!

Guest: Nina (Atlanta, GA)
Date of Stay: 05/20/10 Review Submitted: 09/23/10

My husband and I and another couple (and our dogs) had the most wonderful and relaxing time in this beautifully appointed townhouse just a few blocks from the big fountain and amphitheatre in Forsythe Park. After spending each day exploring the squares and sights of Savannah, it was so wonderful to return to this comfy place and kick back on the patio and sip some good wine. We were so sad when we had to leave. It was too short a stay and we definitely plan on coming back and renting the townhouse again. Everyone associated with the townhouse, from the owners to the management, were so friendly and helpful. As were leaving, my husband and I even got the opportunity to meet the lady who keeps the townhouse neat and tidy and her daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all the local goings on in town and her daughter's grand plans for the summer. In short, it was one of the most pleasant vacation experiences any of us have had and we highly recommend staying here to anyone planning a visit to Savannah!

Relaxation and Rejuvenation

Guest: Denver Lesley (Denver)
Date of Stay: 04/15/10 Review Submitted: 04/26/10

Hi Ya’ll. This townhome is very clean and very convenient to everything Savannah has to offer. I stayed here with my fiancé and two friends whom drove up from West Palm Beach; we all felt right at home, safe and relaxed. I loved the location as it is located a block off of Forsyth Park. We would walk to the water front every day. The location since located by Forsyth Park, allowed us to walk through several squares (gardens as we would refer to them) along the way. It is an easy walk to everything, and an enjoyable, beautiful walk too. Larry and his wife are very hospitable as well. The price I believe is very reasonable, and plus renting allows you to save money verses a hotel stay. The beautiful kitchen and back patio of this town home allows you to eat in half the time, to save money on food. Plus going to the farmers market on the weekend (which is very large and right in Forsyth Park) allowed us to get local, fresh produce to cook with; which was fun! The parking is free; once again a savings. As hotels do charge to park your car (which you don’t need a car, however if you are driving in, instead of flying, it is nice to know parking in front of the town home is free and is not a problem. I also love how each bedroom has its own bath. I would highly recommend this quiet, relaxing get away from the hustle and bustle. ~ Lesley

A little piece of true Savannah

Date of Stay: 04/08/10 Review Submitted: 04/19/10

We have been going the Savannah for our anniversary for the past 5 years. Every year we stay this townhome. It is just a wonderful home. We love the courtyard. It is so wonderful to have an early morning breakfst or just grill out and relax in the evening. The home is so cozy... you really feel like you can just relax and not feel like your intruding in someone elses home. The short walk (about 2 min) to Forsyth Park is a ritual for us. We take our dog about 3-4 times a day, have a picnic or people watch. We also use the bikes provided at the home to sightsee. It is also very close to Clary's, a diner that is great for breakfast. We really love this place. I highly recommend it...

Our vacation to Savannah was made extremely comfortable staying in the house on Huntingdon. Perfect location in the Historic District. Only a short distance to Forsyth Park and River Street. The house is much more than we expected. Kitchen stocked w/basics. We cooked breakfast every morning. Grocery store close. Amenties over and above what you would find in a Hotel. Very Clean. Beds perfect firmness. We felt right at home. Plan to spend time on the Patio. Owner very helpful with all our questions. The 4 Texas Ladies gave this VRBO 5 Stars.

Excellent choice in Savannah

Larry's townhouse is exquisite! Entirely as depicted in his listing - but perhaps even better than expected. Charming furnishings and comfortable rooms in an excellent location. The garden, in particular is a treat. An easy walk to all areas of interest, close to a wonderful large green space. An extremely good choice for any visit, short or long. It was just my husband and I (with our two fairly large dogs) but the house would certainly work very well for two couples, or a family. We'd go back in a moment!

My husband and 2 friends stayed at Larrys' townhouse for a 4 day weekend in Aug'09. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. The house was beautifuly decorated and had everything we needed and more. I think we had a ghost in the house - we took a photo outside the front door and a round whiteish orbit showed up in the pic - how neat was that!! All in all our mini vacation was a great success. We all hope to get back to Savannah again and will definitely stay at Larry's again.

This townhouse was a perfect little getaway in a beautiful area of Savannah. The house was decorated beautifully and very comfortable! For a extremely hot week in Savannah, the fridge was filled with cold water bottles. Immaculately kept, very clean, plenty of sheets, towels, and extra pillows or blankets, the place really felt like home. Larry and Betsy sent a map of the area as well as offered many ideas of what we could do while there. The personal touches were very thoughtful!

Historic Savannah Townhouse

Guest: Carole S (Ringwood, Hampshire UK)
Date of Stay: 06/15/09 Review Submitted: 03/28/10

The property was fairly easy to find and the information provided by the owner in advance was very helpful. The owner was staying in a property a few doors away, he made himself known and gave us advice regarding restaurants, shopping and places to visit. We would have no hesitation in recommending the property to friends and relatives. As we live in the UK we are very used to very old houses so it was a pleasant surprise to visit somewhere with so much history that we could stay in like a home from home, albeit a bit older than even we are used to. It would be difficult to recommend any particular restaurants as there are so many to choose from but have to say that during our stay we did not have a bad meal. One thing all visitors should do is take a trolley ride, the guides are full of interesting facts that you would find difficult to get from books. Overall a very pleasant place to stay.

How nice to come home to!

Guest: cmama (Chicagoland area)

This was the first time that I had ever rented a home for a vacation, but with 3 generations involved in the vacation, I thought it was a must. It felt so nice to be able to set your own schedule and have a home to come back to. All of the creature comforts are in the home and made the vacation so much more relaxed. The house is absolutely charming and a little bit of everything that your think Savannah should be. The only thing that you need to watch out for is the parking restrictions on Wednesday night because the city will ticket. I can't say enough about this experience. Loved it!

We stayed here for the month of January 2009 and would have stayed February also but the place was booked. FIrst, the house is wonderful. Everything one would need is there - spacious, comfortable, and a great location. Second, the owners are simply the best. They take superb care of their properties and take pains to be sure that you are more than happy. They are not in any way intrusive but will fix even the slightest thing that may be off IMMEDIATELY. Through them, we have met a group of wonderful Savannah people. We own property in Savannah but it is rented full-time so when we visit, we need to rent. And we will rent from them whenever we return. That is a sure bet!

Home away from home........

Guest: Duluth Traveler (Duluth, MN)
Date of Stay: 04/29/08 Review Submitted: 06/11/08

My husband and I recently spent 10 fun-filled days in Savannah, GA. Being able to make ourselves totally at home in this 2-story townhouse in the Historic District added so much to our overall experience. The description of the property and the list of amenities was very accurate and we couldn't have wanted for more. It truly was our home-away-from-home during our entire visit. Places we visited - Savannah Visitor's Center (good source for information); Savannah History Museum and Railroad Roundhouse (both very interesting); Ft. Pulaski (excellent); Ft. Jackson (smaller fort, but interesting); Tybee Island/beaches; Wormsloe (beautiful setting); Skidaway Island State Park (very good for birding and to get away from crowds); and the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum (excellent!!). Bonaventure (absolutely gorgeous!); Laurel Grove; and Colonial Park cemeteries. All city squares. Forsyth Park (beautiful!). All churches - mostly exterior. For interior views be sure to dbl-check if tours are available and for days/times. Owen-Thomas House and both Telfair Museums. Walked River Street. Went on a riverboat dinner cruise w/gospel music which was SO much fun! Restaurants - Elizabeth's on 37th, which became our favorite restaurant and brought us back for a second visit. Beautiful setting. Wonderful service. Would highly recommend their chef's tasting menu paired w/wine - excellent! Crab Shack on Tybee Island for a very casual lunch. Food (sampler platter) was overcooked, but atmosphere is fun. Pirate's House (cocktails and a look-see of restaurant, which has some interesting history). Moon River Brewing Co. (service - good; food - not; beer - just "ok", and we do have an appreciation for microbrewed beer). North Beach Grill on Tybee Island (service - slow; food - overcooked; beach setting - fun for a beer/drink). Mrs. Wilkes - a definite must-do! Tubby's Tankhouse (great fried oysters) and Fiddler's Crabhouse - both located on River St. where we stopped in for a late-afternoon beer and appetizer and wanted to be able to sit outside and both restaurants served that purpose. We did our shopping at Fresh Market (a little pricey, but a great meat/seafood department) and Publix and did not have a problem finding what we needed. Several of our dinners were grilled in the privacy of our own courtyard and made for a very relaxing end to our day. BTW, the Cherokee infra-red grill provided at the house is excellent! Thanks Larry & Betsy!

This conviently located historic home made our trip perfect! 4 "old" girlfriends get together one a year to gab, sightsee, shop and eat. What a wonderful place to do it! Savannah is a charming city with lots of history. You can eat like a queen at reasonable prices. Or you can just stay at this lovely home, relax and do nothing. The house has everything you could ever need. The owner even lets you pick out a bottle of wine, on the house! Books, games, DVDs, full kitchen (including all the spices you could ever want), comfortable beds, and so much more! All of which were used and enjoyed thoroughly! This place has got it all and more. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm sure you'll be totally satisfied.

What a great time we had in Savannah and staying at this marvelous home was a good part of it. Very comfortable, very homey feeling. Well equipped. We walked a lot and enjoyed every bid of it. When we felt lazy we'd call a cab and ride. All locations in old Savannah are near enough for a walk or an inexpensive cab ride. We thoroughly enjoyed Forsyth Park right near by. Saw several weddings, how sweet. Really appreciated each bedroom having it's own bath. Nice kitchen, lovely "authentic" patio and handy laundry. Thanks for a great place for our vacation.

Great location, gracious owner, beautiful home. We stayed with another couple and each had enough room without getting in the way. Forsyth Park is almost across the street and you can walk to the downtown area without a problem. The back patio is an excellent spot for an afternoon drink. The home has been renovated but retains the "old feel" but with modern conveniences. Highly recommneded.
