Truly 5 stars! Accommodations pristine. Hosts Terry and Mike were gracious and made us feel like family! We hated to say goodbye! Location is perfectly situated for whatever you're hoping to do in Newport! The "extra" touches were so nice! They thought of everything! And our walnuts were perfectly placed on the delicious banana bread. We enjoyed every moment. Their cat is even sweet!

We just got back from a 2 nite stay at the Hawthorne House, and we had the best time. Terri, Mike and their daughter Cristina (who is visiting before she joins her husband in Japan) were just great. We will never stay in a hotel again! All the goodies were grea,t and we felt so at home there, and look forward to returning soon. The place was so clean, and every amenity was taken care of. I have told all our friends of this great experience, and wouldn't be surprised they will look to book in the future. Thanks again Terri and Mike, and hope your Clamn Bake was a success. Wish we were there. Barb & Carl

Our 4 night 5 day stay at this lovely Newport location was really a 5 star experience for the following reasons: First * The owners are like family. From the first e-mail to the last good-bye, we were treated like a member of their family. Second** The location of the property is perfect. Walking distance to the ocean and close to all the wellknown Newport locations (mansions, cliff walk etc) Third***The apartment was cozy, extremely well maintained and bright. Fresh towels were delivered each day and there was an ample supply of necessities. Fourth****All local information was available in the apartment (churches, local sites to see, restaurant suggestions etc). Fifth***** This one will blow you away. Each day the apartment was stocked with fresh juice, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, water, tea, coffee and a special treat each night. One night is was cheese, crackers & grapes..another night was toasted walnuts and cinnamon cake and to top all of this off fresh banana bread was delivered to our door with a wonderful smile. If there was any negative I could find it would be that the walnuts weren't evenly distributed in the banana bread. YOU WILL LOVE THIS EXPERIENCE

We stayed here with a three old toddler and a 3 month old baby. Terri and Mike were so hospitable and kind and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. They provided us with a cot for our baby, left us treats and wonderful cakes. It was comfortable and practical. The surroundings were peaceful and quiet. We were very close to the center of town, and could walk to it. We parked our car in front of the house, which made our stay easier. We had everything we needed and our stay was just perfect. I highly recommend it.

Stayed for 5 nights over spring break in April 2011 with my wife and our 14 year old daughter. All the other reviews about the cleanliness, unexpected and delicious snacks, great location, and the friendliness of the hosts are spot on so I won't elaborate on them. One nice detail I didn't see mentioned is that there are doors on both sides of the hallway between the living area and bedroom. This creates two private sleeping areas (the couch folds into a queen size bed). We enjoyed our stay very much as did our husky/shepard mix Ellisa. Book it quick-you will be glad you did.

We had such a delightful trip to Newport and Mike and Terri helped make it a wonderful memory. Hospitality at its best!! Staying here was a very good choice. Comfortable, clean, convenient and more than that, very homey and welcoming. Terri went above and beyond by baking us fresh poppy seed lemon bread to take with us when we left. We will most definitely recommend this place and look forward to a return trip. Thanks for everything Terri and Mike!

My wife and I spent 2 nights, end of September 2010, at the Hawthorne House. What is written in the listing is completely accurate but Terri and Mike are delivering even more. Mike took 30 minutes to drive with us in town to show us where the main commodities are: grocery stores, drug stores, good restaurants, etc. Terri cooked us a cake and delivered afternoon snacks. We have traveled in many countries and we can say their level of service is the best we have seen for this type of facilities. The place is spacious, spotless clean and it is very well located, near the Cliff Walk, the Mansions and Thames street shopping. We are recommending this property without hesitation and we will certainly return should we travel this way again. A big Thanks to Terri and Mike ... and keep up the good work, your place is great.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the Hawthorne House. We felt like we were at home. Terri and Mike made us feel very welcome. The breakfast and afternoon treats were great. They also welcomed our two little dogs. The puppies especially loved the treats waiting for them after their long car ride. The location is close to the mansions, Thames Street and the beach but in a quiet residential area. It was a great week and plan to go back again.

What a great find. We just returned from our long weekend at Hawthorne House. Terri and MIke are wonderful hosts. They are always available to answer a question or recommend a restaurant (try the lobster rolls at first beach- 2 for 10.99), but they are not intrusive. The accomodations are wonderful- the best of both worlds - a bed and breakfast atmosphere in your own private apartment. The apartment is well apointed and CLEAN. When we returned after our day out, treats awaited us - even a plate of treats for our 4 legged kids. Can't say enough about this place. We would definetly recommend this without reservation.

My wife and I along with our little dog spent the week at Hawthorne House and were very pleased with the accomodations and the hospitality shown to us by our gracious hosts Terri and Mike. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had all the amenities of home. The great private deck with the BBQ grill out back was an added bonus! The house is located in a lovely residential area and is near the Mansions, Cliff Walk and Ocean Drive. Additionally, the many restaurants, shops and "things to see" are minutes away. For Pet owners, there is a beautiful park located directly across from the home. The delicious midday snacks were a great surprise! Terri and Mike are a wealth of information and are very glad to help and guide you if you ask.

My family stayed at Hawthorne house for five nights in late May. We were blown away by Terri and Mike's hospitality. Way beyond the call of duty. Fresh baked goods, drinks, and snacks magically renewed every day. Beach towels/chairs/supplies provided. The suite itself was very comfortable and homey. We particularly liked the back deck and the kitchenette. And our daughter loved the neighborhood park right across the street. The house is close to everything and yet is in a quiet, residential area. It felt like we were staying with nice, unobtrusive relatives. We are so grateful that we found Hawthorne House and if we vacation in the Newport area again, we will definitely stay there again.

Stayed here for a long weekend to attend a graduation. The accomodations were just perfect - clean, well maintained and just as we expected. It was like our own little apartment with a great back patio. I still regret that we weren't able to take advantage of the grill. The hosts are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. The evening snacks waiting for us in our room were so great. We liked the quiet residential location. The walk to the ocean and to downtown was reasonable - although we like to walk. I hope I can make a trip back to Newport to stay here again.

We love Newport and several years ago we were very fortunate to find the perfect place to stay and we have stayed at the Hawthorne House many times since then. The hospitality is excellent. You will feel like part of the family. We have two dogs that we take with us and we feel very comfortable leaving them there while away rather than leaving them in a hotel room. There is also a large park directly across the street to walk them. The apartment has all the amenities you could ask for and is located near the mansions, casino, restaurants, museums, ocean drive, etc. The hostess couldn't be more accommodating right down to the delicious coffee cake - and biscuits for the dogs upon our arrival. It is a wonderful private get-away!

Terri & Mike, We have to agree with a previous comment, we lucked out finding your place. It was one of the best B&B's we've ever stayed in because we had our home away from home space and a perfect setup for the continental breakfast at our leisure. Banana bread was a delightful treat as well as the afternoon snacks. The "towel fairy" was very efficient. Everything was in a short distance of driving and we finally got the hang of the "one way's" and "do not enter" streets after about 6 laps through the town. You made us feel very welcome and enjoyed your stories of the town and family. Thanks for everything.

Mike and Terri~ We lucked out in more ways than one when we booked our one night stay with you at very short notice! Your place was perfect: clean, comfortable, great location,(yay-Gooseberry beach!) and what a wonderful surprise to find all the goodies that you left for us. Soleil and Rafferty made themselves at home immediately because to them it "felt" like home (they especially enjoyed the jacuzzi bathtub!). Thank you. Be well, Nina and John Nelson

Thank you to Terri, Mike and Christina for a wonderful stay at your B&B! I don't think i can add much to all the nice comments below except to say that you make us feel very welcome and your place is really nice. We loved the home baked goodies and breakfast foods and drinks. We also appreciated how clean and nice everything was including the fluffy towels! Thanks for sharing your beautiful town and place with us! Fondly, Sandi, Brooke, Aaron & Catherine.

Well, I must say that our stay at the Hawthorne House was very nice. Terry, Mike, and their daughter, Christina were all very accommodating and were more than willing to go out of their way to make our visit as pleasant as possible. The location is within walking distance from most of the mansions, the “cliff walk” and beaches. Located across the street from the park, we were able to walk our dog and play with our son without getting in the car and driving. It is also very close to the downtown wharf area were you'll find restaurants and various tours. The B & B is set-up to accommodate only one party at a time, so you get all of their attention and care! The kitchen was well stocked with fresh fruits, cereal, orange juice, milk, coffee cake, and everything else you need for your breakfast. There was a fold out bed in the living room for our 4 yr. old son, and our dog was greeted with some tasty treats upon arrival. One night my wife and I decided to go on a date and hired Christina (a professional babysitter) to baby sit our son! Not only that we were able to enjoy some time alone but he also enjoyed Christina's company and felt very comfortable with her. Thank you for the great hospitality and lodging, we will be back!

We stayed at the Hawthorne House during July 2008 and had a wonderful experience. There were 2 adults, 3 kids and 1 lab. Terri, Mike and Christina were so friendly and helpful and made us feel so comfortable. The kids loved the park right across the street and we loved the mansions, the beaches and wonderful restaurants.
