Hope Island Getaway
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Three-bedroom, two-bath home just a short stroll away on a path to a private-community beach on gorgeous Skagit Bay. Beautiful views of Hope Island and the Olympic Mountains.
Whether you need a romantic getaway for two or require a large home for family retreats, Hope Island Getaway is the perfect spot located in a quiet community with 400’ of nearly deserted beach. You can stroll for miles among pile-high driftwood chasing Blue Herons, seagulls and the occasional Eagle along this pebble-studded beach. It’s shallow enough in July and August that kids can splash for hours in the tides (well supervised); we don’t see many adults doing this, but kids never want to get out of the water!
A fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area as well as several bar stools surround the cooking area - a fun kitchen – where everyone loves to congregate. Or if you prefer outdoor BBQ and a cozy fire, we provide a propane grill and a fire pit with wood.
There are games, books and even a organ for those fun Sing-a-longs. The open floor plan combines the living area, dining and kitchen and is perfect for holidays or just a simple weekend away.
La Conner is less than ten minutes down the road – a charming seaside town with shopping, spa services, antiques and just plain wandering. Don't miss The Wood Merchant - every man's dream of fine wood carving - from furniture to letter openers. The world-famous tulip fields beckon tourists every April from miles around and twice a year tens of thousands of Snow Geese make their annual migrations to and from Siberia filling the sky for miles around.
Anacortes, just 20 minutes away, is your jumping off point for the San Juan Islands and boasts whale watching and kayak tours.
This is one of the most kid and wheelchair-friendly homes in the area. Great beach for kayaking with rentals available in Anacortes. Whether you’re looking for a place full of great local food and activities for your family, or just a quiet place to read a good book and savor the fresh sea air……. we have it all. On July 4th you get a stunning, free, fireworks show right on the beach as the local Native Americans shoot off their fireworks. No personal fireworks are allowed on the property.

My family and I rented the house to attend a family wedding. When my dad (He;s 86) walked in the door, I could tell by his face that he was so pleased to be walking into a home instead of a hotel room. So much more welcoming than a cramped hotel. The house is lovely, beds were comfortable. View from the deck and house are beautiful and so relaxing. We used the barbecue for two meals and sat out on the deck and enjoyed the view. One comment is it's a little tricky to find. Your GPS will tell you are there and you almost are. Makes you think you are a house or two away. The house number for some reason isn't obvious. This was our first VRBO so wasn't sure what to expect in the way of cookware and since we are a cooking family, next time I will ask about what is available and bring what I need if not. Would have been nice to have a colander for example. Our first visit to the La Conner area. Lots of charming little shops in town. Be sure to check out Mary Davis Lighting in La Conner. Absolutely amazing selection of gorgeous lamps. Loved the farmers stands at the La Conner Flats garden and another just outside of La Conner towards the freeway. But that's a small detail, all in all, a great experience! We would like to come back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We made a last minute decision to stay in the area for a soccer tournament. 3 adults and 3 children (10, 3, 9 months). The kids loved it. The vintage toy kitchen, and the expansive front lawn were a big hit. The beach was a short stroll, and the area is very quiet. The house was very clean and just as it appears in the photos. The welcome bottle of wine was a special touch. All around it was very nice and as a VRBO owner, I know how hard it is to keep a place that nice. I appreciated all of the touches. I would recommend it highly to friends.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our stay at this Hope Island Getaway was beyond expectations. Everything was clean, and comfortable...a wonderful place for a family get together. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Within a short drive is the small community of LaConner, full of artsy shops and wonderful restaurants. The view from the property was stunning... We watched the Victoria Clipper crossing Skagit Bay on its way from Seattle to Victoria, B.C., and in the background were the beautiful Olympic Mountains! Our 90 year old father was with us, and had no trouble at all negotiating his way around. He also enjoyed entertaining us on the piano (one of the reasons this home was perfect for our particular family gathering). This was such a nice property...we would certainly go back again, and would recommend it to our friends, or anyone looking for a cozy and comfortable place to stay, which is also convenient to all the Skagit Valley and San Juan Islands have to offer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
