Madison house description
Stronghaven is a 6 bedroom old style family summer residence that has been in the current family since 1927. It is located on one of the last remaining private beaches and beach assocations in Connecticut. A full screened porch over looking Long Island Sound provides cool breezes even on the hottest of summer days.
The tidal waters of the sound at high tide yield a wonderful sandy bottom swimming experience, while low tide tide offers vast sandbars and reveals all the creatures of trapped still water pools as well as those fighting the rushing tide exchange.
There is a king bedroom, a queen bedroom, and 4 twin bedrooms as well as a dinning room with cross ventilation which has embraced familys and their stories for nearly 80 years. The living area has the internet modem/wifi and there is a HD TV tucked away so as not to hide the classic summer furniture and an atmosphere which has remained intact since the 1930s.
Although not state of the art the kitchen, appliances, cookware and serviceware can easily accomodate 14 people for dinner. However, the local seafood and summer vegetables are usually the stars of any summer meal. The outside hot water shower seems to prempt the need for additional conventional showering while the private yard offers a suitable place for frisbee, a game of catch, or croquet. The 21/2 car garage with an addional parking on premise for a total of 6 vehicles makes inviting friends and family for a day at the beach a breeze.
Keywords: Large beachfront family summer home with a private boardwalk to Seaview Beach, a private beach association.

Year Purchased: 1927
About the owner: We are an old New England family happy to share a very special place where our family has gathered and created lasting memories for 5 generations. Come to Stronghaven to relax and start a lifetime of memories for your family.
Why the Owner Chose Madison:
When our forefathers bought this "cottage" as it was called back in 1927 there were only two other house in the vicinity. The area behind the house was the town baseball field and an adjoining cow pasture. The big attraction was the pristine sandy beach which was very private.....exactly as it is today. The only downside to the summers in the 20s and 30s was the soot from the passing steamships on Long Island Sound. It had to be washed from the screens every morning after an on shore night breeze.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It has always been about the same thing: Enjoying our family.
