This was our first time renting a house and Block Island was our choice to do so. We couldn't have picked a better property and location in making our final decision. We 're so glad to have found this property to get to know and enjoy the island. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything you could possibly need -- it felt like "our home away from home" and so relaxing during our week's stay. The renters were wonderful & most accommodating to assure that our stay on Block Island was most enjoyable. We enjoyed our walks on beautiful Mansion beach with it's easy access and our bike rides around the island. This is a perfect location for everything Block Island offers. It met all of our expectations. We highly recommend staying at this property-- we had a fabulous time enjoying Block Island from the comforts of this great home !!! We will definitely be back here again & can't wait for our return here. Thanks for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

About the owner: This home has been in our family for 40 years. What started as a simple summer cottage has now been fully winterized to accommodate our growing family and love for the island which we now visit all year long. While some of us prefer to practically live at the beach during the summer-- swimming, body surfing, boogie boarding, surfing, exploring nearby "pots 'n kettles" for starfish, periwinkles, etc., evening bonfires, early morning beach strolls, meeting friends that return summer after summer-- there are other family members that prefer to visit in Sept. and Oct. when the birds are migrating, the ocean is still warm, the restaurants are still open, and the crowds are thinner. Our children look forward to coming back to Minister's Lot every summer to reconnect with friends that return every year--the friendships are very special and characterized by the well being generated by healthy outdoor activity, stunning natural beauty, and the lightness of being on vacation.
Why the Owner Chose Block Island:
We love our home in Minister's Lot for many reasons: one is because of its proximity to one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen, anywhere. We also love the neighborhood which is comprised of 10 other "salt box" style cottages spread over 9 acres with a couple of fresh water ponds, lots of trees and shrubs, and open field and lawn to explore. We also appreciate the quiet and charm of living on the northern part of the island-- down "the neck." We love walking to Andy's Way to go clamming, to watch the shore birds, fiddler crabs and the sunset,or to wade out to Beane's Point at low tide. Sometimes we kayak from there or meet with friends and go tubing or fishing from their power boats.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Taking early morning walks before breakfast to the beach. Spending all day at the beach and being able to walk back to the house to get lunch provisions and bring back to the family still at beach. Meeting up with the same friends each summer that continue to rent in Minister's Lot--a tradition that's continued across 3 generations. Watching the kids and grandkids on the beach playing with new (and old) friends: flying kites, playing bocce, building sandcastles, playing frisbee & football, walking to "pots 'n kettles," exploring the tide pools there, the rocks and shore life, watching the kids body surf, skim board, surf, boogie board, hang out together. Eating dinner on the deck at twilight, cooking outside, seeing the kids run off with friends to fish in the neighborhood ponds, play in the hammock, play tag, whiffle ball, and capture the flag in the fields. Having bonfires on the beach at night and watching the stars and ocean phosphorescence. Having all the sandy kids take outdoor showers before coming inside. Relaxing on the deck under the umbrella with a book.
