Longwood Farm: a Bucks County Estate on 12 Idyllic Acres in New Hope
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Longwood is a magical 1765 stone farmhouse on 12 gated acres in the estate area of historic New Hope/Solebury, PA. Formerly part of the William Penn Land Grant and built by a leading local family before the Revolution, this private enclave was completely modernized in 2011 including marble subway tiled bathrooms and a chefs kitchen, as well as a bluestone bordered swimming pool with poolhouse. It is ideal for entertaining and includes both a spacious living room with two fireplaces, a Great Room with 50' flat screen HD TV off the kitchen, a library with attached powder room, and a dining room with original 18th century open hearth fireplace. The house has two master bedrooms, one with bathroom en suite. Other bedrooms include two with queen sized beds and one with a single bed. The poolhouse contains a queen-sized pull out sofa (Restoration Hardware) which could be used as an additional sleeping area during warmer months. On-site caretaker in separate carriage house can address any questions about house systems and give advice on area activities. House enjoys sweeping vista onto fields with fenced organic garden in center which guests are welcome to enjoy. Property contains woods with trails and a bonfire pit, ideal for roasting marshmallows or enjoying a glass of a good red by moonlight. Gas grill in outdoor dining area directly off kitchen/Great Room. Owners have a keen interest in design, and have mixed antiques and art with selected mid-century finds, in a manner which respects the house's 225 year pedigree. House was featured in the Bucks County Historic House Tour (2011).

What a gorgeous, magical spot! Our family of six stayed for my daughters wedding week. The beautifully restored house was roomy enough for all with plenty of private nooks and restful space for privacy; the kitchen was a delight- a 6 burner, 2-oven Thermidor gas stove, marble counter, farmhouse sink, plenty of room for storage and fully equipped. Fully modernized, but it is an opportunity to stay in an incredible historic place. My husband barbequed most nights on the sizeable gas grill and we ate alfresco on the new slate patio. We also held a dinner in the stunning dining room. The wireless worked great too, for those who have to work. The location couldnt be beat. Longwood is tucked well back and gated for security, yet only .6 mile from route 202, one mile from the bustle of New Hope (great resutarants) and luckily, less than 2 miles from Holly Hedge Estate B&B where my daughters wedding was held.. The grounds are amazing. The yard was manicured and lush, with cushioned lawn furniture and recliners spread about the rear garden and pool. We could group for afternoon drinks, or spread out for quiet time while sun bathing. Two huge rear decks, one off the center living room, and an upper floor one off the incredible master, where my husband and I found time for coffee alone. Kip the onsite caretaker was there to welcome us & answer questions and built a wonderful bonfire in the clearing for us one cool summer night- Smores in the woods! The owner too was very helpful & responsive via email. My kids agreed that our time at Longwood was so memorable, and such a wonderful complement to the wedding. We hated to leave.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The wide iron gates swung open to reveal, in the distance, this magical house, fronted by boxwood and a circular driveway. We entered into a massive room with two fireplaces and french doors opening to stunning pool and grounds totaling 12 acres. Spectacular kitchen and dining room, plus luxurious bedroom suites with state of the art bathrooms. Exposed stone interior walls and top of the line finishes at every turn put this house in a truly spectacular category. Only for the connoisseur who prizes total privacy.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
