My boyfriend and I were looking for a quiet place to spend our vacation in Tahoe and Inga and Steve’s cabin was the perfect place for that! Having never been to Tahoe, we spent a great deal of time researching (North v South...Nevada v California…) and found that the northern California area would provide us with more of the activities and overall culture that we were looking for (i.e. quiet beach, hiking, outdoor activities, local food). From our initial inquiry, through the end of our stay, Inga was responsive, resourceful and reliable. Despite being out of town during the time of our stay, Inga provided a smooth arrival and departure procedure that made for hassle-free transitions. Prior to our arrival, Inga sent out several helpful documents to help us plan our stay, in addition to leaving a binder full of resources in the cabin to assist us while we were there. The cabin was spacious, quiet, comfortable, and the location was within walking distance to excellent hiking trails, which made for a perfect morning or early evening activity to take in the beauty of the area. Having stayed in several vacation rentals, this definitely ranks as one of the best – from the fully stocked kitchen, to the small amenities that you would only find in a lived in home, I would highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning again in the future. Thanks again, Inga and Steve!

Owner response: Hi Mandy, I'm so glad you had a good time and we'd love to have you stay again.
My husband, son (age 21) and I stayed at this great Alpine Meadows cabin recently for three nights. The cabin is exactly as described by the owner. Communication before hand was good, we have even had a follow-up email since we have been home asking for feedback. Instructions for arrival and departure were thorough and clear. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked, probably better than any other VRBO we have ever stayed at. This was not a problem for us, but just to let you know, the bedrooms are downstairs so if anyone is walking around upstairs and someone is downstairs they will definitely hear their steps.

Owner response: Hi Dee Ann, I'm glad to hear that the cabin was as you expected and that our information is accurate and complete. We love to hear that you and others appreciate the well-stocked kitchen. The wooden construction of the home does mean that the people in the master bedroom can hear footfalls from the kitchen above--we were able to reduce the noise when we installed the cork flooring in the kitchen last year but were not able to eliminate it entirely. One suggestion for future guests is to do what we do and set up the coffee maker on the bar the night before so early risers can get their first cup of coffee without moving around too much off the carpeting. I also appreciate your off-line suggestion about adding a second lamp in the living room, which we plan do soon. Thanks a lot for your comments.
Thank you for a great Fourth of July weekend!
Thank you for a great Fourth of July weekend!
My family and I rented Inga's cabin during the Fourth of July weekend and had a blast! We enjoyed relaxing on the back patio each evening, taking in the breathtaking scenery after a day of hiking. The home was tidy and clean and bathrooms are all nicely updated. The cabin is only a short drive away from the lake and Tahoe City where we picked up provisions for the week. Very convenient! We'll definitely be back...hopefully soon!

REALLY, This was one of the most amazing VRBO expieriences I have ever had. Catching this location in between seasons brought it in at a great price, and amazing did not stop there. Location in the hills with views of peaks and valley was suitable for the quiet get away I was looking for. Accomodations are very appropiate for adults and children alike. Owners are easy to deal with and entire process of access and checkout is meticulously flawless. The "HOME" is a home not a cabin and we did not want to leave. I am a chef and was so impressed with the little extras in the fridge which supported my making some fantastic meals for the family. Nice, Nice, nice.

Owner response: We're so pleased that the cabin fit your needs so well, and especially that, as a chef, you were able to find what you needed in the kitchen. We hope you'll be able to get away again to our mountain retreat.
Great summer stay
Great summer stay
We stayed here for a fun weekend away in early summer. The cabin is gorgeous and located in a wonderful end of the lake. It's a minute walk from the 5 Lakes Trail, amazing! It's stocked with everything you need for cooking (bring your own food, duh) and is ready for a great time.

Great location, wonderful cabin!
Great location, wonderful cabin!
We were seeking a little weekend getaway from our home in Sacramento, and found this great cabin on VRBO. This Tahoe cabin is perfectly located in Alpine Meadows, and is steps away from the Five Lakes Trail (which is a spectacular hiking trail, and you can actually see all five lakes in less than two hours!) I emailed Inga to make my reservation, and then spoke to her on the phone about some specific requests that we had - and she was so wonderful and accommodating! The owners have done a great job in maintaining the property, and they had thought of EVERYTHING to make our stay enjoyable - from the well-organized binder of info about the house, nearby trails and restaurants, etc. to the nice added touches that make this feel less like a "rental property" and more like a "cozy home". I would highly recommend this cabin to my friends and family, and we hope to be able to return again soon! Thanks, Inga and Steve - we LOVE your place!

Owner response: Hi Holly, I'm so glad you enjoyed the cabin and that we were able to accommodate your requests. It's great that you were able to get up to the lakes during our wonderful early spring. Come again.
The owner was exceptional to work with, responded to e-mails immediately, and even offered local information for things to do. The property was very clean and nice. I would highly recommend this property to any friend.

Our family of 5 stayed rented this wonderful cabin for 4 nights in August 2012, and it was absolutely perfect! It is a beautiful, very well maintained home with gorgeous views. We loved how homey it felt, with a great collection of adventure books and 2 cozy couches in the living area, perfect for gathering with family after a long day of outings. Everything was perfectly clean and in great condition.... there were plenty of sheets and towels, as well as a washer/ dryer if needed. It was a perfect size for us.... not too big, but not too small. There are three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, which are all very, very nice. Inga, the owner of the house, has a wonderful binder of helpful information on the kitchen counter. She was always very responsive and kind in her email communications. The location was great, easy to find, and. only a 5 minute walk to the Five Lakes trailhead, which was a spectacular hiking trail! It's easy to get into Tahoe City for river rafting, and we enjoyed a great breakfast at Rosie's. We also drove to Tahoe Keys for a hot air balloon expedition with Lake Tahoe Balloons as a birthday celebration. On our last day we took the cable car to the top of Squaw Valley Mountain for a day of hiking and lunch next to the pool, and enjoyed the 1960 Olympic Museum. This was our first experience with vrbo, and everything worked out perfectly. We would love to rent this house again and would highly recommend it to our friends!

We were looking for a wooden cabin and yours fit our bill perfectly. We were a group of 6, with two seniors. All of us had a great time in the cabin. The view from the cabin was awesome (the telescope to view the moon/stars was a great plus). We didn't find anything as even slightly negative. Your kitchen (albeit a little small) was awesome with all the tools and stuff that one might possibly need; also, the folder with the various brochures on nearby attractions/hike/other details was very informative. All in all, a great place to say.

About the owner: We are a professional couple from the Bay Area who met in the mountains and feel a passion for North Lake Tahoe. We love to backpack in the Granite Chief Wilderness behind the cabin, mountain bike on nearby trails and relax at the beach at beautiful, blue Lake Tahoe.
Why the Owner Chose Alpine Meadows:
The location on Alpine Meadows Road means we have easy access summer and winter, the views of Scott Peak and Alpine Meadows ski area are spectacular from the house and we love to step out of the house and be on wilderness trails within minutes. It's a short drive to Lake Tahoe, with stores and restaurants nearby. We've been skiing at Squaw Valley and Alpine for decades and have explored most of the back country trails in the surrounding area.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The deck catches the afternoon sun so we enjoy relaxing with a book and a glass of wine. If we're lazy we'll take a walk around the neighborhood, while if we're more energetic we'll tackle the Five Lakes Trail. Horse stables are just down the street for those who like to ride. A river rafting outfit is located at the end of the road.
