Waterfront property with magnificent views, on the sunny southern tip of Cortes Island. Wake to eagles' laughter from the nest just north of the house; hike the forest down the dirt road; climb Easter Bluff, bike or drive to wondrous lake with sandy beach or granite rock access, or swim in the ocean warmed by a long tide;gather oysters, clams, mussels from your own beach. Walk 20 minutes up the beach or the road to sandy beach, gourmet meals, massages, facials,workshops, etc. at Hollyhock retreat center or go along the road to Smelt Bay provincial park, a pleasant walk to another long sandy beach with great sunsets
Cozy sitting area by wood stove with two desks, double bed and desk in high ceilinged loft study/bedroom and double bed in private bedroom with claw footed bathtub with water view. Conversation nook off the dining area may also double as a modified queen sized bed. All beds have great water views. Sailboats, kayaks, bikes available for rental on island. Sorry no pets.

Year Purchased: 2004
26 years ago I came to this beautiful land to heal from cancer. There were no structures on the acres I bought. I lived in a one person tent on the beach that first
summer and a healing summer it was: lots of vitamin D from the sun, antioxidants from the many berries, sea
protein from the oysters, mussels and clams not to mention the seaweed and
the good vegetarian meals and body work a short walk away. NO chemo or
radiation just bliss, getting to know how
the light changed during the day,
watching the eagle pair and their babies
in the high fir above me, getting to know
the otter family that shared the beach
with me, etc. I had no trouble from
cancer ever again.
after that summer and feel forever grateful to this place. Shelter evolved through tents on platforms through a tiny(8'x8') beach cabin to this rather grand house (1350sq') with the beginnings of a fenced in garden. I am so lucky to have found this simple paradise and am glad to share it with you.
I am a child psychologist, trained at Yale and Stanford, in private practice of play therapy and family therapy on Whidbey
Island WA. My own time here has showed me that play is truly healing.

Welcome to this newly built vacation home. Each sleeping area has gorgeous woods and water views. The separate bedroom has a double bed plus its own claw foot bath tub; the loft/study double bed looks out over Desolation Sound. Cozy sitting area around wood stove with two desks, full kitchen, soaring , light filled, open space for dancing, dining, with alcove nestling area. 1 and 1/2 baths. No garden yet. Great stairs to private beach.

May 3, 04 "You have created this warm, safe, comfortable haven, so open to all that surrounds it, so alive with the loving care that created it, which invites me to grow quiet enough to enter the beauty outside. There I feel my spirit become more still as my senses are excited - by the air, the light, the wind, in trees, on water, on my skin. ..Thank you for bringing this gorgeous home into existence, as caringly as you could so that the land and its animals might not care too much that we are here.
