Rosie and I fell in love with Santa Barbara after a number of visits in the 1970s. Now we have lived here for 32 years, we never get tired of being here. The weather is always great and there are so many activities from restaurants, to wine tours, to hiking and sightseeing all within a short distance.

We rented this house for 4 couples over a weekend. The great room and deck with the ocean view are incredible!! We had such a good time just winding down and enjoying each others company. The jacuzzi was relaxing. There is plenty of seating on the deck and a stove with a supply of fire logs for when the evening turned chilly. There are 2 grocery stores within easy walking distance. The pictures are very accurate on the VRBO site. I would highly recommend this home - there is everything you need and the owners are very helpful.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at this home. The view from the brand new "great room" is fantastic, and it is so sunny and open. The master bedroom has views of the ocean and stars from the bed, the jacuzzi is so relaxing, and the patio is wonderful for entertaining. It was even better than we had hoped! We went cycling, visited the Santa Barbara zoo and the Mission, all of which were very interesting and worthwhile. We would highly recommend this home, and hope to visit it again soon.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We rented this wonderful house for 5 nights while in Santa Barbara for a family wedding. While this house is on a main street we did not hear any traffic and spent our entire stay out back on the the fabulous deck watching the waves of the Pacific Ocean! This house was very comfortably furnished with everything that a family could need in the way of space, appliances, towels and most of all relaxation on the deck and in the yard. I just wish it was my house! Thank you Conaways for a wonderful California experience!!!

This home is an amazing and picturesque Californai coastal vacation spot. The home is warm and inviting and the deck is absolutely spectacular with vistas of theThe Channel Islands and plenty of room for a small and quaint outdoor dinner party. This house is in a great location: beaches and parks are within walking distance; State St is an 8-minute drive; terrific views of the ocean from the living room, master bedroom and backyard. We spent all our time in the backyard: hot tub, ping pong, BBQ, outdoor fireplace, two outdoor dining tables, and a beautiful view of the Channel Islands. Families: the house and yard are *mostly* toddler friendly, although there's a 2-foot drop in the backyard from the deck down to the lawn, so you'll need to be on constant alert, especially if your kids like to climb steps. The layout of the house is good for families, with 2 smaller quiet bedrooms and an office in one end of the house, and a large master suite at the other end. As with most VRBO's this is someone's primary residence, so it's a little like housesitting or houseswapping: you need to be considerate of the neighbors, feed the cats, and put out the trashcans once a week. Some might be put off by that casualness, but we found it to be much preferrable to staying in a hotel, and the owners are very friendly and professional through all stages of the rental.
Owner response:The cat mentioned in this review passed away over two years ago in January 2010 and we don't rent to groups with pets. If you are staying during the first of the week, we like to have you roll a trash can out to the driveway Monday night and a recycling can Tuesday night, but we can do so if you desire.

We've stayed in this house several times and plan to continue our visits there for many years to come. The 180-degree views of the ocean and surrounding lush vegetation are fantastic. The house is immaculate and the kitchen well-stocked for all your cooking needs. The master bedroom has gorgeous views, looking out from the bed through large French doors. Two large decks, complete with a hot tub, large grill, and plenty of seating and tables, allow the visitor to enjoy the beauty of Santa Barbara while relaxing in the sun and smelling the flowers. We highly recommend this place!
