Who doesn’t accept credit cards in this day and age? And still expects full payment before or upon arrival but isn’t there to accept it the day of arrival? The information we received by email was incorrect and when we came back later to the Black Swan Inn (sister property) during the times posted for check in there was no-one there. We were able to get into the unit, as they left it unlocked and said to go on in when we phoned. After playing a bit of phone tag to arrange for payment, I was chewed out rudely, accused and blamed by an unreasonable and shrill staff/owner who regaled me on her busy schedule and activities including children’s school and soccer games. This conversation was during our dinner at a restaurant, which shocked our party and was quite unpleasant. We arranged to take care of it the next morning, and when my husband walked over to the Black Swan property he was treated with rudeness again and witnessed rudeness to other lodgers. On the last morning of our stay, without notice, the room was entered immediately after we left for breakfast, hours before checkout, to start cleaning before we had checked out and removed our belongings. We never received the towels we requested or the extra cot we paid for and was promised upon reservation. We were taken off guard by the treatment we received as we did nothing to cause it and thought all was well. In all our years of traveling and staying in hotels and B & B’s this takes the cake. In all fairness, I will mention that the property itself was beautiful, spacious and clean, and furnished well with down comforters and quality linens. Unfortunately we found the staff ungracious and unprofessional.

My favorite travelers' accommodations in Ashland
My favorite travelers' accommodations in Ashland
For more than 20 years, I have been attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Over those years, I have stayed in many motels, B&B's, and travelers' accommodations in Ashland. This one is by far my favorite. It is the best travelers' accommodations I have ever found in Ashland. Wonderfully clean. Plenty of bathrooms. Great location. Short walk to the theaters (about 10 to 15 minutes) and Main Street. It looks like it was built specifically as travelers' accommodations. Easy parking. Fully equipped kitchen. The Heritage Suite even has a washer and dryer, and I understand the Garden Suite does too. I highly recommend it.
