Lovely Eco-Friendly Heritage Home W/Huge Garden, Close to Downtown Vancouver - Cottonwood Crown
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This heritage home has been lovingly restored to reflect the original character of this 1907 gem, but has all of the conveniences of a more modern home; 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths as well as two private living rooms with foldout beds, can accommodate up to 14 people, but 2 kitchens and private entrances allow separation of the two suites to accommodate smaller groups (8 upstairs, 6 downstairs). We are working hard to make this property as eco-friendly as possible through the use of non-toxic cleaners and laundry detergents, high efficiency light bulbs, and recycling and composting. The property offers abundant deck space and an extra large, private back garden (w/barbeque and outdoor seating for 14). We provide you with all of the information you need to help you acclimate and explore from this convenient location, and a helpful manager is always on call, if ever you have questions, or need a hand. We make it easy to enjoy your holiday in this idyllic city.
Cottonwood Gardens is located in Strathcona which is Vancouver's oldest residential
neighborhood. This amazing and unique neighborhood has a sense of community
that can't always be found even in a small town. An amazing example of this is
that the neighbourhood was earmarked for demolition in the early 1950s as part of
an urban renewal program. Strathcona would have been transformed into blocks
of identical apartment buildings, but development was stopped by opposition
from the community. Thanks to the strength of the community and their intense
love for their neighborhood, Strathcona is still filled with late 19th and early 20th
century architecture which is a relative rarity in Vancouver. Walking through the
neighborhood, you will see that many houses in Strathcona are designated heritage
houses, and Cottonwood Gardens is no exception.

We were a family of 8 visiting Vancouver for our sons wedding we found ample space to sleep all eight of us,the landlady is very friendly and helpful, the house is central to many places of interest but also quiet enough to relax if you so wish.Stanley park with its many attractions is a must to visit so is burnaby mountain park which has fantastic views over the city.great places to eat the old spaghetti factory gas town and the flying beaver which is close to the airport and next to the sea planes. The description of the house is good and it is well maintained we would certainly reccomend the property to others.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Our team of 3 delight in continually improving our 3 properties and having so many guests from around the world to enjoy our heritage house all year round. Not so many places can offer quietness, central location, free parking, garden, Canadian heritage, a free International phone, WIFI, computer and now a printer! Soon we will be advertising a large one bedroom apartment which sleeps up to 5 in the same Cottonwood house .Many people also enjoy our Cedar house with panoramic view over Deep Cove wilderness just 15 mins from downtown or have time in each to soak up very different sides of Vancouver. We want all of our guests to have a great time and appreciate questions and suggestions to keep giving a better service. Guests can choose between complete privacy or having as much advice as they like about Vancouver.and details that they need. Often we have just 2 people stay at this apartment as it is far better value than a hotel.and has high quality beds and furnishings,.and also one lovely red king bedroom. However I am glad to have a review from a party of 8 to show that it does indeed have the capacity, and is well equipped for this. People comment on the floor plan being helpful to understand the layout. Thank you for staying with us. Deanna

This is a terrific place to stay, we stayed with kids for a week; loved the neighbourhood with its cool and funky shops, organic produce and characterful people. The house is cute, charming and cosy, with loads of privacy for a family to have some break out spaces. Kids loved the upstairs loft bedroom. Well set up kitchen. Getting to central Vancouver is very easy - the bus is only a few minutes walk away. Alex and Camille are excellent hosts - every correspondence was quickly replied to, and they were there to assist if we needed any help. Payment and check in were seamless. Lots of great suggestions for local, city and wider BC things to do. Highly recommend, you'll love your Vancouver experience here!!Owner response: We are so pleased that you enjoyed the stay. I love that upstairs bedroom too, and the neighbourhood has been an amazing home for us in the last two years. Always nice to hear that our guests have had an opportunity to enjoy it in the same way that we do every day! Kindest Regards, Camille and Alex

Dear Camille and Alex, Many many many (times a thousand) thanks for letting us stay in this lovely abode! DeCadence a capella had a blast performing and eating family meals and picnics all around Vancouver. There are great rehearsal spaces in your house (in case you didn't know).everything about this house is beautiful! ALSO, WHY DON'T I LIVE HERE!?:-) We visited lots of tourist sites in Vancouver as well as had a concert at University of BC; we made late night runs to the AWESOME ice cream place around the corner; we hit up a club in the city; we took a hike at le TreeTop Adventure; we walked really, really far and jumped really, really high and had loads and loads of fun, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to come home to at night!!!!!!!! I hope we didn't make too much of a ruckus (singers tend to be loud)?! Thanks so much for everything! With love from Berkeley, California, Hannah & DeCadence a cappella (3/26/2011)Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

“It’s sometimes not easy to find a place that you can quickly call “home” when you are thousands of miles away from your home… But this time we’ve found such a place: your house, dear Camille and Alex, with Cottonwood Crown apartment. There was nothing we really missed and the beds were so good, we slept like in heaven. The fact that one of the most wonderful cities in the world is just a stone’s throw away made our stay even better. Vancouver offers such a variety of attractions we couldn’t decide which one we preferred: was it the awesome “skyscapery” downtown or busy “shippery” harbour bay or peaceful “flowery” parks and mountains… We’ll never forget Vancouver, this house and you, Camille & Alex. Thank you and all the best.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
