Bear Necessities is a beautiful home away from home. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The cabin was clean and the pictures on the site pale compared to the actual cabin and property. Everything you could possibly need was present, even an axe to chop the provided fire wood. The only item missing was a sharp kitchen knife. Bring one if you plan on cooking. Otherwise it was nearly perfect. We had family from Rising Fawn over for dinner and they loved the cabin and property as well. Our 4 children had a wonderful time exploring the property. Otters, raccoons, possums, deer and turkeys were seen almost daily. There were two geese with a nest in front of the cabin that had five young ones. Everyone loved the two cats as well as the neighbors puppy. Even though he ran off with a shoe or two. You must eat at the Canyon Grill if you stay here. The food is amazing and the service was top notch. It's not cheap but as they saying goes, you get what you pay for, and then some. The owners are kind and responsive. We booked six months out and are expectations were high. Needless to say the were met and exceeded. It's very easy to find and located very near to anything you may need. If you are adventurous and like getting a little muddy, the wild cave tour at Raccoon Mountain was a hit. Cloudland Canyon was spectacular. We only spent two days in Chattanooga as there is so much less touristy things to do nearby. It's very quiet and relaxing here. We would definitley stay here again. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy this little slice of heaven on earth. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed the lake views and walking around enjoying nature. We learned fast to stay away from mother goose. She is one protective bird!! We loved the cats especially Tutti!!! She made us feel like we were at home and would have loved to stuff her in our suitcases and brought her with us. We did buy them so food and left it on the counter. The house provided everything needed and the little things not thought of. The one and only complaint we had and highly would suggest is getting a television for the upstairs bedroom, other than that it was perfect. Thank you again for everything!!! Sincerely, The Law FamilyRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Bear Necessities and the surrounding area was awesome. We had a cold winter long weekend with our son and fiance from Chattanooga. Everything we needed was provided. The outdoor kitty cats really made us feel at home. We have rented through VRBO quite often and this was our best. Hated to leave, but good to be home in a little warmer Charleston.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Listing description, photos accurately reflected this rental's appearance. The property and cabin was clean and well maintained. The only con for us was there needs to be a TV in the upstairs Bedroom and the major turn-off was the sheets on the bed in the upstairs bedroom was horrible!!! Not fit to sleep on. They may have been cleaned however they were really "STAINED"! I would recommend this property to friends and relatives. It is located in a great area for bike riding. Other nearby activities, attractions, and restaurants; 20 to 30 miles away in Chattanooga.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We have stayed at many VRBO properties throughout the years and this was, far and away, the most beautifully appointed and had the most amenities. The owners have treated the cabin with loving care and it shows. There were so many extras that you NEVER find in a vacation rental...Coffee, paper products, shampoo, body wash and, best of all, the thickest towels imaginable! It was more like staying at a luxury hotel than a vacation rental. Contrary to another review, we found the beds extremely comfortable and enjoyed restful nights sleep during our entire stay. We will definitely be making this an annual event...if not more!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Overall, the cabin is a beautiful cabin with very nice furnishings and a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. We enjoyed the fishing and peace and quiet the cabin offered. We were disappointed that we were not informed before our arrival that the resort was in foreclosure and that almost all the properties are vacant and the resort is very overgrown and not maintained. The photos we received of the cabin accurately reflected it's appearance, however, the photos of the resort do not accurately reflect it's appearance. We never did find the water mill that is supposed to be on the resort property. We did find getting to the cabin a little tricky due to directions had us turn down a little lane with lots of potholes before the actual entrance. But we managed to find it ok. The drive to /from Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain was very quick and easy. The only change I would suggest would be new mattresses for the queen beds. They are VERY hard and uncomfortable. My husband wound up sleeping on the couch after the first night because it was more comfortable than the beds. At least there was a great hot tub to get in each day to help take away the aches and pains. Also, would suggest adding a handle or door knob to side door leading to hot tub, due to difficulty opening and closing with small lock. We used this door the most. The kids really enjoyed the two house cats. They followed them everywhere. We enjoyed fishing in the lake across from the cabing and the two smaller lakes closer to the resort entrance. The cabin is well furnished with amenities and everything needed to cook / grill. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return in the future if changes were made to the beds. Thanks again for sharing your cabin with us! Hopefully, someone will invest in this resort and bring it back to the wonderful potential it has.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Well equipped, spotless cabin in a spectacular location. Owneers most responsive and helpful. We were on a civil war tour and were thrilled to have an idyllic retreat at the end of a bust day. Would happily return to Bear Necessities... PS we loved the 2 ginger cats who visited when we sat on the porch - they love tilapia fish.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is absolutely the most beautiful place in Tn. We stayed from Sept 25 - Sept 30th. The cabin looks brand new and is decorated so nicely. There are lots of extras that the owners have in the cabin like coffee, shampoo, body wash, etc....They have really thought of everything. The hot tub was amazing. The view from the large wrap around porch is breath taking. We had planned to spend some time in Chattanooga but ended up spending most of our time at the cabin because we loved it so much. We went to Cloudland Canyon State Park which is something we will do again...loved it. We ate at the Depot Diner almost every day. We enjoyed meeting the owners, Cowboy and his wife. We did not want to leave this beautiful cabin. We will be back!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
