The cottage exceeded our expectations. It was solid and comfortable and had a very well-equipped kitchen. Sunset views were lovely and we used the canoe and pedalboat and rented a boat for 1/2 day from marina. The bunkie was also very comfortable and spacious. It was fairly hot when we were there so the ceiling fans were a real bonus. We were a family of four and had a few friends visit and we lucked out with 2 spectacular weeks of weather. We really enjoyed going to the Haliburton Nature Reserve which was about an 8 minute drive. My husband and I hiked on a couple of trails and my son went on two mountain bike adventures. We all enjoyed a visit to the Wolf Centre (we lucked out the day we went as the pack was in viewing range) and went back in the evening for the Wolf Howl. It is a half hour drive to Haliburton for big shops so we tried to get enough to last for a few days. West Guilford store has good basics. Owners Pamela and Stephen were very helpful in answering all our questions.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

We could not have asked for a better cottage experience. The cottage was a perfect size allowing us to spread out - there were eight adults and two children. The younger adults stayed in the self-contained bunk house. The huge deck was lovely for meals. During our stay there was a lovely breeze and very few insects. The beds were very comfortable as was the living room furniture. The cottage was spotless when we arrived. The slope to the water was gentle. The water was refreshing and clean and we enjoyed the canoeing. The owners answered every question we had but we didn't have many since the listing gives good information. We would highly recommend this cottage. We also enjoyed visiting nearby Haliburton forest and the Wolf Centre. Besides playing games in the evenings we sometimes watched movies from the extensive collection. We appreciated having internet service. Next time we would not bring meat from home because there is a very good butcher at West Guilford about half an hour away. If we require a cottage with this much sleeping accommodation next year we will look at booking this one first.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We are a family of 5, we have 3 kids Liam 9, Maiya 6 and Hana 3. We bought the cottage in 2011 after spending many summers cottaging in the Haliburton area with extended family. We love spending time outdoors fishing, hiking, swimming, boating and entertaining. We love nothing more than after a fun day of playing sitting by the campfire roasting marsh mellows and enjoying the beautiful night sky. We look forward to providing our guest with clean comfortable accommodations, surrounded in nature. We believe that often it is the extra small touches that can make a difference in helping to ensure a great vacation experience
Why the Owner Chose Haliburton:
The lake is huge and crystal clean. Its got excellent boating, fishing and swimming. Its a kid friendly lot which is well treed with huge pines and hemlock. The area has so much to offer, Haliburton forest and Algonquin park to name but two.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We have a marina close by where renters can hire jet skis and boats. Beautiful lake side firepit. Backs on to the Haliburton forest and wild life reserve. Just bring your swimming gear and fishing rods, everything else is provided.
