Great Get Away
Great Get Away
My husband and I like to go away just after Labor day to celebrate our anniversary. In the past we would spend several days in NYC to take in a show and visit the sights. This year we wanted different, peace & quiet in a serene setting. This property is just that, especially after Labor day! It's private enough even with the proximity of the neighbors, but this time of year its even more so! It seemed like we were the only ones there! Otsego (Glimmerglass) lake is clean, clear and quiet and you have a view from either the house deck (or the small loft that we stayed in known as "The Birds nest"). Your 20 minutes away from Cooperstown village (and the Baseball Hall Of Fame) as well as some very nice golf courses. I'm sure there is some good dining (a list is provided by the owners) but we prepared our own meals. Our favorite time was using the kayaks and sitting on the boat dock looking out over the lake (some GORGEOUS sunsets). The most excitement we had was seeing an Eagle swoop in for a fresh catch! The owners are very accommodating and keep the property meticulous. The bed was very comfortable as was the whole cabin all the comforts of home. I strongly recommend if this is the kind of Get Away you're looking for.

Quintessential Lake House
Quintessential Lake House
Coming from Southern California, this was exactly the lake vacation we were hoping for! House was in excellent condition with fresh new linens including plenty of new bath towels. Amenities like kayaks, canoe, dock, great large beach with firepit and of course the water trampoline were huge highlights. Location was very peaceful and private. AT&T mobile customers beware; no signal, but Verizon is fine. Owner was super helpful, even though we really didn't need much; everything was very much as described. We'll be seeking this or one of the owners other lake properties when we return for our next two rounds of Cooperstown Dreams Park Tournament players.

Owner response: Many people think our beach frontage is the best on the entire lake! During the summer our guests spend lots of time here swimming, kayaking and bouncing on the available trampoline. Bring your own boat or rent one and tie up at our private dock. With an expansive beach covered with fine, wave-polished pebbles and stones there is plenty of room to have a catch with a baseball, football or frisbee. During the non-summer seasons the beachside firepit is the focal point...nothing like a warm fire on a cool evening as the sunsets across the calm waters...serene and beautiful.
The house we stayed in was very spacious and very clean!! We really enjoyed our stay!! Bill is so easy to rent from, he let us know on our trip there the roads that were closed due to th weather and emailed us places to go. The view of the lake is beautiful as well. The house was well stocked, the blankets were so comfy (my kids still talk about them) and it was great to be right on the lake!! We have rented from Bill before and we hope to be going to Cooperstown again and will definitely only rent from Bill! Thank you for an enjoyable place to stay!!!

Owner response: LakePointe is becoming a favorite with our guests! In addition to great interior family spaces, this home has what many people consider to be the BEST lake frontage anywhere on Otsego Lake! With more than 200 feet of beach covered with finely polished pebbles and its western exposure...guests can take advantage of very long afternoon sun and outstanding sunsets over the water. Kayaks and canoe, firepit at the edge of the water and a great swim/boat dock provide plenty of sources of fun for the entire family!
We rent on homeaway.com and have always been extremely happy with the rentals. This property was wonderful. Unfortunately we did not get to spend so much time there. I would have liked to have rented for 2 weeks. We were back and forth to Cooperstown Dreams Park all week. That was a wonderful experience as well. This was our second time with the Dreams Park experience and never let down it is run like a dime. We did have the team swimming at this property one evening and it was simply magical!! When my son going to bed the night before leaving said it was the best week of his life I had a tear in my eye. It not only had to do with his baseball experience but the time he spent at the home as well. I wished we could have stayed on another week just enjoying this home. It was peaceful, clean, quiet, great views and full of nature. My husband and I biked or ran everyday around this home. The town was close enough to get breakfast in the morning yet the owners had the kitchen set up with a Keurig ready to go. Sometimes little things like this make a difference. The owners were available should you have a question. I would highly recommend this home. It is also great if you bring others it was like two separate areas. My husband and I had master bedroom and my mom and aunt were in other rooms. It felt completely private for all of us. A great rental property!!!

Owner response: Our goal is to provide families with exceptional homes in which to relax and unwind. And we are delighted when guests report they wish they could have spent more time at the home! And we also appreciate any guidance from our guests on how we can make our home more comfortable for future guests!
Property description far from accurate. Mattress and spring sets in each bedroom are terrible. Toilet in one bathroom inoperable. While it rained considerably during our stay, it is likely some kind of moisture issue exists, a very musty unpleasant odor most of the week. Had we purchased rental insurance,we would not have stayed from day one.

Owner response: Wow! I have been renting my vacation homes in Cooperstown for just over 9 years now and we look upon guest reviews as opportunities to improve our properties…but this one leaves me scratching my head :)! We recognize how important it is to describe our homes and their respective locations accurately…we much prefer to under-promise and over deliver. Additional reviews below help provide a broader, more balanced overview of our home, LakePointe. Communication is an important component of any successful transaction. We balance privacy with attentive care and contact guests after they have settled in to determine if there are any additional needs. The guest seemed quite happy with the accommodations when we spoke. As responsible landlords, we employ full-time caretakers who are available around the clock to resolve guest issues. To ensure each property is ready for our visitors, either my wife or I inspect every home after the cleaning has been completed. I inspected the home on the morning this guest moved in and again on the day of their departure. Had any odor been identified at that time, or had the guest simply notified us of any issues during their stay, we would have taken prompt action to resolve them to the guest’s satisfaction. Our goal is to provide our guests with great accommodations and a superb visit to Cooperstown. My personal cell phone number is included in every correspondence along with an invitation to call or email us at any time with any concern or question; should issues arise, we are committed to prompt and complete resolutions.

Felt like home!
We spent 2 nights here visiting Cooperstown and celebrating my dad's 60th birthday. Nice big living/dining room with fireplace and foosball table was fun. Kitchen had everything we needed, even a water cooler for drinking. Beds were comfortable and bedding was all new and clean. Big soft white bath towels and wash cloths were great and there was enough for all. I had a few questions during our stay and the owner was just a phone call away! It was a great experience overall.

Our group of 9 women rented your home in October. We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your house for the weekend. The house is lovely, comfortable and we did not want for anything. We were able to enjoy the fall foliage while kayaking and canoeing on the lake. Will definitely keep your home in mind for future vacations !

Owner response: The weather in central New York can be absolutely perfect in late September/early October for kayaking and canoeing...not too hot nor cold. And the colorful foliage reflecting in the calm lake waters makes for a photographers paradise. It is one of our favorites times to be out on the water...come and give it a try!
We stayed at this property during our recent Cooperstown Visit. The house was just what we expected based on the pictures and description on VRBO. The location was gorgeous, right on the lake and easy drive into downtown Cooperstown. We rent homes frequently while traveling and love it when a house is not cluttered with personal items, this house was not cluttered and had everything we needed and just the right personal touches to make us feel at home. One of the best things about the house is how quiet the area is.....no barking dogs, no road noise just beautiful peace and quiet....Bill was excellent to work with and gave us great directions and suggestions on what to do in the area.....!!!!

This house was a fabulous retreat for our two families of four. Our kids aged 9-13 absolutely loved the water trampoline, and we got lots of use out of the two kayaks and canoe. The adults enjoyed morning swims to the end of the little bay and back on the beautiful, clean, and usually very calm lake. We had Time Out Boat Rentals deliver a pontoon boat right to the dock for a fabulous evening cruise, and we rented a powerboat from CJ's with skis and tube that we were able to pick up at the dock 10 minutes away in town and then keep at the house all afternoon as we took turns going out. Our sons were playing baseball all the way down at Cooperstown All-Star Village which is actually 40-45 minutes away in Oneonta, but we were lucky that their schedules allowed us to sneak in some great afternoons on the lake.

Very relaxing and large home on the Lake
Very relaxing and large home on the Lake
Terrific rental, the pictures and descriptions on the website are true to life. LakePointe certainly is the nicest place on the lake and the best place to stay! The house is super clean and comfortable, private setting, very relaxing, and with all the amenities we needed! Our family had a great time at this lake house; the kids just loved it, they had so much fun on the water tramp and kayaking. Highly recommend for all types of “group” or “family” vacations.

Perfect for Cooperstown Baseball Families
Perfect for Cooperstown Baseball Families
Our family stayed here for the past week as our 12 year old son was participating in the weekly Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament. We had a wonderful experience all around! The house is perfect for a few reasons: conveniently located to baseball park - 9 miles, conveniently located to Main Street - 5 miles, provides lots of options to other family members not participating in the games. We brought our older 16 year old son and two grandparents. The house was a great respite from the field especially during rain. Our family took full advantage of chilling out at the house, fishing on the dock, playing horsehoes endlessly, s'mores on the fire pit, and even kayaking. Grandparents were happy to miss a rainy pool play game or two because they were eager to relax in the inviting atmosphere of the house. There was plenty of room for folks to be with the group or be on their own, Coffee on the rockers on the balcony overseeing the lake was especially awesome at all times of the day!! The best part - no surprises - everything was as it was presented to us in the preview as well as phone calls prior to finalizing our rental agreement. NOTE: the house is a bit challenging to locate on your first entry - so be sure to read the wonderful directions supplied by the owners - especially if you are arriving at night.

As described the property sits above one of the best waterfront locations on the east side of the lake. The secluded flat beach area is ideal for families to spread out and enjoy swimming, boating or just hanging out. The deck and screened inn porch provide a great view of the lake and allows for dinning and viewing memorable sun sets. The house is a cut above most summer cottages with a well equipped kitchen, good sized bedrooms and a wonderful great room. Has been rented by my family in the past with no problems and a resposive owner.

Owner response: Our home has a become an annual destination for a number of families. They bring the kids and their friends each year and continue to build a lifetime of memories and a deep appreciation of, and love for, lake front living! And every year we have the great opportunity to share our home with a few more families and provide them with a water front experience that most will never have the chance to participate in. We are always happy to hear from our guests and to learn of the special moments they enjoyed while vacationing at LakePointe!
