  For what I paid and from the pictures I expected a nice well appointed kitchen. It looked like they stocked it with items from a thirft store. None of the plates matched. There were no serving bowls. Not all the pots had lids. Cabinets were falling apart. Most of the drawers were filled with trash and junk. The drawers were so dirty I had to wash everything before I used it.The refrigerator door opens the wrong way so it is awkward to use. There were spider webs all over the house. Stains of the bed covers. There was no electric outlet in the vanity area of the master bedroom. We had to stand in the washer dryer room to dry our hair. The owner was nice via email. They don't allow pets, but there is a dog house in the back yard.

  Owner response: Unfortunately this tenant doesn't understand the ins and outs of renting properties that are fully furnished or has never stayed at another rental. If I put brand new items in the home, especially of the housewares type, they are inevitably stolen. The pots pans and dishes that are in the home are the pots pans and dishes I use as a homeowner when I live there. They are not from a thrift store but they are mine...cooked on and used with love. The outlet in the master bath is behind the mirror. You just needed to look a bit better. Also, I gave the tenant my cell number, my husbands cell number AND the number of my brother who lives a half mile from the home. You did not call once. I emailed this tenant from my child's bed-side in Westchester Medical Center and she said she was in and everything was fine. There is an ink stain on the comforter in the MBR which matches everything in the bedroom and is covered with a draped coverlet and not in view at any time. The comforters, unlike you would have in a hotel at $200 a night, are washed. I'm sorry there was a spider web, the house is situated in a wooded area and serviced and turned before every check-in. The tenant stayed during a high Holiday week and the home sleeps 10 in bedrooms, 15 including the fold out futons (which have special bedding for them) and paid a little over $200 a night all inclusive. I don't know what else I could have done.

  We stayed here for 5 days and enjoyed the home, especially the deck. We were not able to get the Tv in the loft to work even though we read the owners manual and dialed in the channel as stated. We were also disappointed that there was no DVD player since the home is supposed to be kid friendly and my kids brought some of there favorite movies to watch. Overall, we had a great time and really enjoyed the lake.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.

  We rented this property with a group of friends for Labor Day weekend. It was a comfortable stay and met our needs. It was nice to have lake and pool access and we enjoyed running and biking on the quiet neighborhood roads around the lake area. It's in a nice location, though not close to the lake and pool (a mile drive). It has lots of scenic drives and fun activities nearby -- we went apple-picking and watched a tractor pull at a local county fair. Our kids loved the pool and the secluded beach. The owner was really easy to work with and was prompt in responding. Some downsides -- somewhat small living space, loud AC units, broken cable on the loft TV, and the kitchen was less equipped than we had hoped -- we made a special trip to the store to buy salt and pepper shakers, some mixing bowls, some dish towels, and some hand soap (we left them at the property, so next guests can enjoy). We were glad we brought a griddle and wished we would have brought a skillet as the pots and pans weren't the greatest. All in all, I'd probably give it 3 1/2 stars -- we had a good time and enjoyed our time together with friends. Thanks!

  Owner response: The home is not equipped with central AC, this is in the ad, therefore the only option anyone has is either window or floor units. The two floor units are whisper quiet and brand new. The two window units are brand new as well and as quiet as a window unit could be. The home has 800 square feet of living room space alone in the upper loft, there is a second living room in an open floor plan area downstairs, there is yet a third living space in the den downstairs. There is 2,000 sf of total living space. The cable is not broken, you have to dial in the channel on the universal remote to change the channel. This was stated in the house manual that is left for every guest. A mile is a short 60 second drive to the lake and pool. Personal toiletries such as soap are the responsibility of the guests. We provide towels, linens and household cleaning products. Laundry detergent and soap are not usually included in any home rental. We will be adding pots and pans over the winter for our convenience (we do catering at the lakefront Lodge) but we have fed 20 guests over the course of our stays at the home quite easily. The kitchen is well equipped with a coffee maker, blender, toaster/oven, gas stove/oven, microwave, outdoor BBQ grill and pots and pans, a small flat griddle, china, glass, silver, wine glasses and dish towels and pot holders. There are also two cabinets filled with herbs and spices, a pepper mill with tri-colored pepper in it and a matching salt shaker, I'm sorry you missed that, but all those things are there.

  The property was clean and entirely suitable for our needs. The community swimming pool and other shared recreational facilities were outstanding. This house is an excellent value. our only minor comp-laints were that there were no ice trays in the fridge, a couple of light bulbs were burned out and the room air conditioners had trouble keeping up in the afternoon on a couple of particularly hot days. We had a great time, the owner was very nice and responsive, and we will plan to go back. The history, art and architecture in the area were outstanding and there is good access to skiing and sledding in the winter. There are many things to do and great day trips available.

  We stayed here in March as my daughter is getting married next year and we were venue and caterer shopping so we decided to make some family time out of it by renting a home located close to the Hudson Valley venues. This couldn't have worked out better as the owners are the fabulous Greengage Marmalade caterers and event planners! They introduced us to all the Hudson River estate venues and we were happy to be able to grab the Lake Lodge located right in the home's community for the rehearsal dinner! The home is perfect and has so much going on every level. Each area is beautifully decorated and, like you would expect given they are caterers, the kitchen was stocked with every spice for all types of cuisines. The deck is huge and the backyard beautiful. We booked the home for the wedding next year as accommodations. Can't wait to use the lake and pool and we can only imagine how much more beautiful the property is once the leaves are out and the flowers are up. This is a well appointed home!
