My husband and I stayed in this garden level apartment for four nights during our trip to Vancouver. It was exactly as it appears in pictures--clean, modern, and enough amenities that make for a comfortable short or extended stay. We really appreciated the functionality of having a kitchen to prepare meals and a washer/dryer unit to do some laundry during our stay. The East Village neighborhood is also very pleasant with plenty of things to do within walking distance. We definitely recommend eating breakfast at The Red Wagon, just around the corner. And the distance to downtown is an easy bus ride down Hastings Ave. Barbara and Ian are both very kind and laid back. Barbara was very responsive to my emails leading up to our trip to British Columbia. The only complaint we had is that we were not prepared for the noise that we often heard from upstairs. With a family including two young children, it is to be expected to hear them--we just were not expecting the daily 6:30am "wake-up call" from all the foot traffic upstairs. But if you are an early riser and don't plan to sleep in during your stay in Vancouver, this should not be a problem. Aside from the upstairs noise, this is a great find in Vancouver--much better than a hotel!

Owner response: Hi Rachel, I'm glad you found the suite pleasant to stay and the neighborhood nice. We love living here for the proximity to shops and buses and bike routes! I'm sorry my kids were noisy. For some strange reason the kept waking up early the days you were staying.. normally I have to drag them out of bed to make sure they arrive at school on time! :-) I only wish you had told us as we could have been more careful and made sure that you were not disturbed as much as you did. We will definitively be more careful in the future. Normally we are out of the house most of the day so noise has never been an issue Thanks again for staying with us, it was a pleasure meeting you both.

My wife, 2 yr old son and I recently stayed at IL NIDO for a long weekend. We found the place very nicely finished and well maintained, just as it appears on this website. Everything was like new and we appreciated the clean and contemporary style of the unit. It suited our needs very well. We felt it was a much better deal than any hotel...the price was similar to the cheapest hotels in town with the added benefits of free street parking (there were plenty of spaces right out front) and the ability to make our own meals when we wanted. We definitely saved a lot by staying here! The hosts, Barbara and Ian, were very responsive prior to booking our stay and extremely helpful during our stay. They offered great info regarding Vancouver and other area attractions and they had a few guidebooks and maps on hand as well. They welcomed us, including our little boy, and offered to provide a cot for him. They were very accommodating and laid back, which we appreciated. In fact, both my wife and I said we wished we lived closer to them because we really enjoyed them both! The location of IL NIDO was quite convenient, with easy access via car or bus to downtown. We actually spent a few days on our bikes instead of driving, based on Barbara and Ian's advice. Vancouver has some great designated bike routes through the city which can be easily accessed (just a few blocks away) from IL NIDO. It was quite easy to bike from here to the waterfront & Granville Island and we were glad we did. If you enjoy cycling, definitely your bikes with you if you're staying here! We also enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and a few of the stores and restaurants nearby...very convenient for grabbing a few groceries or a bite to eat without needing to drive. We would definitely recommend a stay at IL NIDO to others and we plan to stay here again on our next trip to Vancouver! Happy Travels!

Owner response: Bill, It was a real pleasure meeting you and your lovely family. I'm glad you got to experience the real Vancouver... i.e. the biking Vancouver! It is one of the things I like most about living in this city, especially the bike ride along the water to Granville Island! I'm so lucky that I get to do that everyday to go to work!! :-) It would be great to have you back one day, and maybe we could show you more of the city... In the mean time, all the best in Seattle! Barbara

I stayed in this suite for nearly two months and it was a wonderful experience. A true home away from home. The suite is full of everything you need, in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. I truly enjoyed meeting Barbara and Ian's, their kindness and helpfulness. I also really liked the neighborhood, shops are only a 5 min walk away so it is easy to go grocery shopping. The stores are full of organic foods and local produce. Templeton pool around the corner was great for afternoon swims and the area is very quite a safe. Buses are so close and going downtown is very easy. I rented a car to go to the north shore which is a very short drive away and very convenient. I will definitively stay here again and would recommend this place for anyone that wants a great experience of Vancouver! Thank you again for a lovely stay.

I can't say enough good things about our experience here! The apartment was neat and clean and had everything we needed. The whole apartment was beautfully decorated (and has inspired some changes in my own house soon!). After a day of walking around to see the sights, I really enjoyed the luxurious soaker tub! My husband and I felt very relaxed and at home here. It was great to have lots of room, not feeling cramped like we do in hotels. As travellers on a budget, having our own kitchen cut down on the cost of eating in restaurants, and being able to make coffee and breakfast in the morning was awesome! The neighbourhood was great; quiet but close to the action. We never had a problem finding parking either. There are lots of restaurants and shops to enjoy on Hastings and the Drive. It was a short drive to lots of sights, maybe 15 minutes to Kitsilano Beach or Stanley Park, but still close to the main routes so we could go to North Vancouver and drive the Sea to Sky Highway. Everyone who visits should check out Lynn Canyon..so beautiful and FREE! Barbara and her family were so welcoming. They were always open to talk about Vancouver or suggest places we should visit. Even when we thought we broke the washer..turned out to be "user error"! We can't wait to visit again!

The suite was perfect for our short stay in Vancouver. It was exactly as described and we appreciated all the amenities of a suite over a hotel room. Barbara and family were very accomodating and I would happily stay there again.

Owner response: Thanks for staying with us! Glad you enjoyed your stay and the couch!!

We have stayed in a few places in Vancouver and this one was by far the best one. The rental is clean and comfy, a literal home away from home. Downtown Vancouver is only a quick drive away, what we liked about this neighborhood was the more quiet and peaceful area which gives a better night sleep without the noise of the downtown scene. The owners Barbara and Ian were incredibly kind and helpful. Next time we plan a trip to Vancouver, this will definitely be our first choice for lodging! Thank you Barbara and Ian for everything.

This unit was the ideal choice for a recent 5 night "mission" in Vancouver to find housing for our university-bound son. Our days were very hectic, and this cozy and well-appointed suite was like coming home every day. Barbara and Ian were gracious and warm hosts and dependable and prompt in our correspondence and rental transactions. While the in-suite washer didn't work while we were there, we were invited to use the washer in their home which was very helpful. The soaker tub was a greatly appreciated luxury at the end of a busy day and the bed was very comfy (my son advised that the sofa bed was comfortable also). The neighbourhood is a lot of fun (restaurants, shops etc.), nicely located in Vancouver and has well-appointed community centres close by for those who work out or swim. The suite itself is very nice and recommended without hesitation. The kindness and warmth of the owners cannot be overstated and their suite will be my #1 choice for future trips to Vancouver. Thank you so much Barbara and Ian!

The listing descriptions were accurate regarding the rental amenities and location. It was very clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and excellent transit communication to all parts of town as well as the nearness of shops and restaurants. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful in every way . We would indeed recommend this property to friends and relatives.

This is a great find! The owners were very responsive by answering my emails very quickly. They even offered links about the neighborhood, so that we would be familiar with our surroundings. The owners were great to work with. The unit was very clean, well maintained and comfortable. It was beautifully appointed with great attention to details. While the photos give an accurate description of the unit, it is even nicer in person. It is a recently remodeled unit. My husband and I stayed here during our road trip through Oregon, Washington and Vancouver, BC. The location was ideal for touring the city. My husband and I have been to Vancouver before. In the past, we have stayed in a hotel on Robson Street. This vacation rental was so much more comfortable, more affordable and more like a home away from home. It was nice to be in a neighborhood with shops and restaurants within walking distance. I really liked staying where the locals are. If we visit again, we would definitely stay here. I would highly recommend staying here to friends and family.

Owner response: Hi Gina, it was lovely to have you and your husband stay. I hope the rest of your trip went well and I am glad you managed to save sometime for a side trip to Vancouver. We would love to have you back. All the best in San Francisco. Barbara

We stayed for 3 nights in this well-designed suite. The suite looks new, clean with everything you need for your stay. We did not miss home. The owners are very cordial and helpful. The lady gave me many information beforehand and gave us helpful tips for roaming around the city. Another positive is the location. It is located in a very nice and safe neighborhood, only 5/10 mins away from the downtown. Will love to go back to Vancouver and stay there again.

We were there for a family visit in late April, and found the area was quiet and a safe residential neighborhood to walk around. The suite was comfortable and had all of the amenities I wanted. Our hosts were friendly and offered help to make our stay delightful. During our stay, there was water leaked from the hot water tank valve and it was stopped in no time by owner. Barbara was so nice to offer us a day of rent. We rented a car and found we could easily find a street parking space nearby or even in front of the property. I will sure stay here again for my next family visit.

Owner response: It was great to have you stay! and thank you for your patience. We have now replaced the valve and re-plumbed the hot water tank, so I can promise you no more water if you come back next year! Barbara

My husband and I spent 3 days, and felt very comfortable. Everything was new and clean. We had everything we needed. We saw buses around the area but we had our own car which makes easier to visit the city.

Owner response: It was very nice having you as our first guests! I'm glad you found everything you needed and managed to have a good time in Vancouver. We have now added the few food essential you suggested (salt, sugar, tea, coffee, oil and vinegar as well). I hope you can come back one day and have a look at the local ski mountains too. All the best in Chicago, Barbara
