Immaculate. Adorable. Geographically desirable. A superb owner to work with. Our stay was everything we could have asked for and more. When inquiring about the property, the owner was prompt about providing information. She was a pleasure to work with and provided several recommendations to make our trip more enjoyable, including making sure we arrived safely and everything was to our satisfaction. The house was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. The beds are incredibly comfortable with great water pressure in the shower. Plenty of tv's with great cable and wireless internet. I only wish we had been able to stay longer! Thank you for providing such great accommodations!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We had a lovely time staying in Newport at the cottage. It was the perfect size for our group of four. The living space was comfortable, the location perfect for exploring the town, restaurants, shops and the mansions. The description of the cottage and the pictures were true to the home. It is nicely decorated. The kitchen offers everything you could want, if you want to cook. We enjoyed the restaurants, so cooking wasn't a priority. We were so busy visiting the mansions that we didn't make it to the beach this time. We hope to return when the weather will be more conducive to spending time near the water.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

The house was very quaint with many beachy touches. It is in good condition and very similar to the photos online. It is walking distance to downtown, but you can also take a taxi for $5. The backyard is very large with a table, four chairs and a grill. This was a girls' weekend and we had a great time! I would definitely return or recommend to a friend. It would also be a nice place for a family or 2 couples. The only suggestion for the owner would be better overhead lighting in the bedrooms as it was kind of dim.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you to all of my guests. And best wishes.

Our family of four and pet stayed at this rental for a week while visiting Newport. The cottage is small, but cozy and clean. It is at least a 10 minute walk into town, but a short walk to the bay. It is also driving distance to the beach. While my husband and I thought the home was a nice place to stay (and appreciated having the fenced in back yard for the dog), there were a few drawbacks. The kitchen is tiny and does not have a table or chairs and it is not equipped well with utensils for cooking (if you wish to cook while you are away). There is a grill outside, but we did not use it. In addition, there is no air conditioning in the home and the window units in the bedrooms are a bit noisy and tend to blow cold air directly onto the beds at night (if you are not staying in mid-summer this is not a problem). Finally there are no blinds in the bathroom (so bring a robe). We were also told that there were ants in the kitchen, but that the problem was resolved. We did have ants in the kitchen though during the course of our stay so we did buy ant traps (which the owner said she would pay us for). The owner is a nice woman and while the property itself is old, she has maintained the home well.Recommended for: Pet owners, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank everyone for your reviews:-) Ed and Lisa were great guests and happy they came to Newport. My home is a quaint 1940s cottage and is a 750q.ft.home two blocks from the view of the Newport bridge and goat island. The pictures online are current and well represented. I let people know that the house is not made for large families and ideal for couples with a pet and or a child. I do have a table so I do not know what they were talking about. The table is an 1800's pub antique table with a setting for two and two extra chairs that are kept in the in the garage. And in past reviews they did not say I did not have table? I did mention that ants were a problem in RI this year and cant explain why but if they did have a problem that I would call orkin, and would be sent right out. I have all brand new flat screens, dvd, internet and brand new furniture that is decorated in cottage decor that shows well. I want the guests to understand this is not a large home for large families when calling to rent. The bedrooms do have ac as well as over head fans as well as the living room so if the window units get a little loud or cold you have these as an option. The other reviews do not mention the needing of a robe while in the bathroom so I don't know what to say. I hope that all future guests check out hotels and B&Bs. On this note I have stayed in B&B's and got a lot less and paid a lot more for just one room with a two person occupancy and they did not take my pets or have off street parking and a large fenced private yard. I take pride in my home and stay here myself and would not rent something that I would not rent myself. Also Ed and Lisa did forget that they had a $300.00 deposit coming back and I called three times till I was able to let them know and get their address to send it asap and were thankful for me being honest. To everyone coming to Newport welcome and visit one of the most beautiful cities (island) in the United States.

This home is located in a beautiful and quiet residential neighborhood that's a short drive or ~20 minute walk to downtown Newport. You are also located just a few blocks away from the pier and a lovely park where many people go to watch the sun set over the water. There's also another, separate small park with public tennis courts just one block away. The backyard is quite large so if you're bringing your dog, like we did, you will be very pleased with the space. We found the house cozy and cool during the hot summer days -- as adorable as it looks in the pictures posted on this listing. Two things worth noting for your visit -- the kitchen utensils are spare, so please bring your own ladles, tongs, knives, etc if you plan on cooking a lot. There also is no dining room table in the house, though there is a nice, but small table out in the mud room. It's not a problem in the summer, when you can eat most meals outside after dusk, but if you're planning a stay in the late fall or winter months, you might end up eating in front of the TV in the living room. Overall, this is a truly great place for a small group of people (and a dog or two) who are looking for a relaxing stay in Newport.Recommended for: Pet owners.

Kathy was very accomodating considering this was a last minute vacation to Newport. An added bonus was that the house was pet friendly with a great fenced in backyard to have my dog run around safely. The house is just as pictured and decorated very nicely- overall cozy feel to it and close to everything. Kathy was beyond helpful and very accessible to answer all questions. We had a great time !Will helpfully be visiting again soon!!Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Wonderful cottage! It was adorable, clean, and comfortable! We were very happy with how clean and kept up the cottage was. The pictures and description are accurate. Great location; we were able to walk to the heart of Newport in about 10-15 minutes. The owner was professional, nice, attentive, and easy to deal with. We were a group of 4 girls that were getting away for the weekend. Would highly recommend and would return!Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
