McKenzie River cabin description
A Personal & Group
McKenzie River Valley
Pacific Northwest Cascades
Our accommodations include a well appointed cabin with a queen size bedroom, a sleeping loft with queen and twin sized beds, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with a tub-shower, dining-living room, a wood burning fireplace and screened in back porch. Fall asleep to the sound of year round Horse Creek flowing behind the cabin on its course to the McKenzie River.
While Picaflores is an ideal destination for personal retreats, it is also designed to meet the needs of small group gatherings and workshops for 15-20 people.
Nestled in the trees you will find our 30' Yurt. The Yurt is dedicated as a group meeting space. It is filled with indigenous art collected from around the world. There are tent sites cleared in shaded areas on the property for seasonal camping. The cabin becomes a good place to house instructors or those unable to tent camp.
(There is an additional base usage fee for the Yurt of $50 per day plus $15 per person per day)
CAMP KITCHEN /
In addition, we offer an outdoor kitchen,
dining area and bath house with a sauna, four sinks, two toilets and two private showers overlooking Horse Creek.

You won't be sorry
You won't be sorry
Our long weekend with our adult sons and their partners was perfect. The property is far more beautiful than the photos can express. The cabin, sauna and showers, and the yurt were spotless and fully appointed. We remarked on the yurt smelling musty and learned that this is the smell of Bali. Steve was extremely helpful from the very beginning of our search on VRBO. Do clarify the fees, as they are confusing on the site. We've already referred several people and will return. It would be nice for an individual's quiet time or for a group. If you enjoy being away from town, don't miss this sanctuary.

A little piece of paradise
A little piece of paradise
We wanted to find a special place to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and boy did this little piece of heaven surpass our desires. The minute we stepped out of the car, we were entranced by the beautiful setting and the lovely accommodations. The cabin itself is very comfortable, clean, and wonderfully decorated with tasteful pieces of art from around the world. Our daughter and son-in-law stayed in the yurt which is like walking into a world traveler's museum. It was the perfect place to listen to music, meditate, and we even practiced a little yoga! Steve was a great host and made us feel like family! We needed an extra broiler pan and he quickly provided us with one from his own kitchen. He was also a great resource for beautiful hikes near and adjacent with the property. The outdoor shower is something everyone should experience. You are literally surrounded by nothing but river and forest. The sauna was a special treat, too! We would love to return and have definitely recommended this property to our friends and loved ones.

Serene cabin and setting
Serene cabin and setting
We enjoyed our two day stay here immensely. The cabin is situated on a short bluff overlooking Horse Creek -- an enchanting stream, clear and cool. The grounds are expansive and inspire a releasing back to nature. A peaceful retreat. Our host, Steve, shared part of one evening with us which we enjoyed as well. The cabin itself is quite comfortable and well stocked. The four of us agreed that this place is a gem.

Wonderful place to stay!
Wonderful place to stay!
My husband and I live in relative isolation in the midwest as caretakers of a wildlife sanctuary. We are birdwatchers and when we vacation we usually locate a home base to make day trips from. Steve's sanctuary was a challenge to leave for our day trips! The setting is a piece of our dream pie! Secure in the woods & immersed in the sounds of Horse Creek, was just the type of home we dreamed of. The sanctuary has trails that took us into temperate rainforest environs at the edge of the rushing creek. In July we spotted over 30 species of birds on the property. The cabin is beautiful as its warm pine construction is complemented by thoughtful artwork that connects to native communities around our world. The outdoor shower facilities were a favorite daily attraction which launched the days activities and refreshed us at the end of the day. The trouble is... now we have to build similar shower facilities back in the midwest. Steve is an excellent host. Greeting us shortly after we arrived at the cabin that was open and waiting, we felt that we could have spent hours visiting and getting to know each other better. Unfortunately our schedules did not blend in this fashion so I guess we will just have to go back and continue our discussions. Our wireless internet connections were not blistering... but this reinforced the fact that we were on vacation and didn't really need to dabble in work related issues. May have been our machines...but was not a problem. There is a decent restaurant a few miles away that provided excellent service and food along with an outdoor dining area that was fantastic. Shopping for groceries should be done in Eugene or Bend if you want variety. If you are looking for a top-notch place to stay surrounded by nature, this is it! We won't hesitate going back and hope to one day soon. We couldn't have found a better place to stay in the area.

About the owner: Following extended travels to Egypt, Turkey, Peru, The Amazon Jungle, Mexico, Guatemala and Indonesia, I have returned with treasures from these cultures to share at the Cabin, Yurt, Sauna and Gardens. The influences of Indigenous Folk Art inspires the magic of Picaflores which creates the allusion of being any where in the World. I have found the advantages of being here are enhanced by the natural wonders of our Rain Forests of the Oregon Cascades affording the best water and clean air you can find and one of the greenest places on the Planet. Come and Enjoy, Steve
Why the Owner Chose McKenzie River:
Picaflores is a destination unto itself. A place to arrive, unpack and simply enjoy. Stroll the trails around the property, spend some time in the Balé Begong (our Balinese Dream Gazebo) overlooking Horse Creek and luxuriate in the sensual feast the elements of this land provide. Whether your need is for rest, relaxation, romance, a group gathering space, or a place to rejuvenate after an active day, consider Picaflores your sanctuary.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This is a unique property bounded by three natural creeks, Horse Ck, King Ck & Owl Ck (Horse Creek is a year round river flowing directly from the Three Sisters Glaciers). This provides our guests with a personal and private experience during their stay.
