Grace Rock is a lovely home for a family or several families. The kitchen is large and well equipped; bedrooms are spacious and well furnished; the living areas are large, very nice for bigger groups. In addition to the amenities of Rumbling Bald and the immediate Lake Lure area, a big attraction is the proximity to other NC mountain areas. Hendersonville is about a 50-60 min. drive where you can see productions at the Flat Rock Playhouse, eat at a number of delicious restaurants and shop in cute stores. Asheville and Black Mountain are also about an hours drive. The Blue Ridge Parkway meanders between the 2 towns with hiking trails available and also the Allenstand Craft Gallery. (NC mountain crafts). Lots of great restaurants in Asheville and unique shops in Black Mountain. All in all a central location for a wide variety of activities for the entire family.

WOW - Mountain Vacation was HEAVENLY!
WOW - Mountain Vacation was HEAVENLY!
This home is absolutely stunning and will entertain you and your family or associates in a first class way! Our extended family of 15 spent a long Thanksgiving weekend at Grace Rock (LOVE the name!) and cooked full meals, everyone had a bed, there are multiple 'large gathering spaces' inside and outside and quite simply, it feels like a HOME! The furnishings, amenities and decor are exceptional. The accessibility to the Rumbling Bald Resort is fabulous and the resort itself offers every activity you could possibly want. Since it was cooler weather when we visited, we hiked, some fished, many used the workout room, the outdoor basketball courts, corn hole, golf and more.......we even did a lake tour -- which should be a MUST on your list! Saturday nights on the beach roasting marshmallows, movie nights at the resort, miniature golf -- there simply is something for everyone! You will have a BLAST at Grace Rock. We cannot wait to return!

About the owner: Just to the left of the garage door, as you drive up to the house is a large rock…it looks rather like a stone seat. I grew up in Rutherfordton about 20 miles east of Lake Lure in the 1960’s. One day, I was still in school, my Dad, with the help of his tractor, pulled this huge stone up to the house from the lower end of the property. There, it greeted us daily and for years each time we returned home. When my parents retired to another area the stone went with them and again greeted us as we visited them with our own families. When Dad died I took the stone (with the help of some disgruntled movers). And it has moved each time I did – last count six times. A local historian has said it may have been used as a mount for a horse when that was the preferred method of transportation.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Lure:
The opportunity to have a gathering place for our family was the event that got us back to our beloved NC mountains. And Lake Lure with its temperate climate, easy accessibility, and gentle pace of life was our first choice.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Recreational activities are so abundant and meet the needs of all our family members: hiking, kayaking, shopping, arts, history, scenery, fishing, festivals, golfing and the Rumbling Bald Resort, or just sitting on the deck and watching deer eat from the feeder, plus great childhood memories continue to draw us to the wonderful place. And as you drive up to the house just to the left of the garage door you will see the stone – now called Gracerock because it got to go back home.
