Karangasem villa description
sea-side, volcano-view, rice-paddies, serene, private, beach, unique, romantic
Nestled where two fresh-water rivers run into the Lembok Straights of the Indian Ocean, Villa Jasi was selected as Architectural digest's lead feature in the 'Exotic Homes Edition' in August 2009 for its unique design, luxurious appointments and magnificent setting. Designed by Linda Garland, built by a team of Sumatran master carpenters, the owners spared no expense in making the home environmentally friendly( built with all re-cycled wood) and seamlessly integrated into the natural setting.
In front lies the ocean and behind towers Bali's main 12,000 foot volcano, Mt. Agung, the 'sacred mother of Bali.' To the north over the terraced rice fields is the Seraya mountain range whose cooling breezes blow in most nights. Thus the property is a 360 degree experience.
The villa is actually six villas organized at the ocean's edge with 2500 square foot long house which serves as the living room/dining room house for the villas.
Villa Jasi is a smaller long house in the Sumatran style with a king-sized bed and full bathroom.
The villa come with the friendly staff of ten people: two cooks, three house caretakers, three gardners and two night security men there all day to meet your every need, including laundry for additional charge, cleaning, and providing a delicious breakfast a day provided in the price of the villa. Lunch and dinner can be arranged for an additional amount. They are all smiles and will climb the many cocoanut trees to give you some 'ayer kalapa muda,' young cocoanut milk, or fresh-sqeezed orange juice, Bintang beer or sodas all day.
There are surf breaks nearby and surf guides can be arranged by the staff and are recommended to insure happy integration into the line-up. The local break, Pura Delam, can generate waves from two-feet to double overhead depending on the season and the swells. You can see the break from the living room/dining room house to tell what the swell is doing. It's a five minute drive away.
There is snorkeling right out front for lobster and sea life observation and excellent diving all over the area including wreck diving in nearby Tabanan. Bali is a haven for all water sports.
Facials and massages can be had at the villas with notices to the staff and are highly recommended and inexpensive. Also, recommended is to hire a car and driver by the week so that your freedom of movement is assured. It is NOT recommended to drive in Bali as the traffic behavior is quite wild and unpredictable. Cars and drivers are also very reasonable in cost and can be arranged before or after you hit the island.
We can arrange the pick you up at Denpensar Airport and drive you the 1 1/2 hours to Villa Jasi where your smiling staff will greet you warmly and show you to your rooms.
A ten-minute drive away is a often deserted white sand beach (Pasir Putih) about a half-mile long with lovely swimming and a few warungs serving fresh seafood and cold drinks right on the sand. Massages and crafts are also available.
East Bali may be the last refuge of the true Balinese Culture where festivals, temple ceremonies, and rice farming abound as they have done for centuries. Women in sarongs carrying temple offerings on their heads along bamboo-lined back roads are sights that will linger in one's mind long after you are back home. Many villages in the area are craft-oriented specializing in silver jewelry, weaving, ikat, fishing, and baskets, all ready to be explored.
Many local restaurants abound and both the luxurious Alila Hotel and Aman Kila Hotels are located within 45 minutes and have a number of fine, gourmet restaurants should you want a change of dining pace.
Most of all, Villa Jasi offers a chance at renewal, re-invigoration, romance, and recreation in uncommon amounts. Though the journey there may be long, upon arriving only the power of the destination will remain as you have successfully traveled into another world.
Keywords: Villa Jasi is a house in the Sumatran style with a king-sized bed and full bathroom.
No air conditional just breeze from the ocean.
You can have breakfast ,lunch or dinner in the room or go in the main dining/living room and share your company with other guest.

Villa Campuhan is magical. Everything about it from the moment you walk in is perfect. We stayed in Villa Jasi which was perfect for two people and was beautifully designed and decorated. The long house or main house was a great setting for breakfast, dinner and relaxation. The staff is amazing! Ketut was so helpful in planning the days activities, which if your staying at Villa Campuhan you have got to get out see Bali! Take a cooking class with Penny, snorkel in Amed, climb Mt. Batur, visit Tirta Gangga and go trekking in the rice fields. Villa Campuhan the perfect base camp for exploring Bali and is also the perfect retreat to just stay and relax by the beautiful infinity pool. I want to go back!

Authentic Gorgeous Bali Vacation
Authentic Gorgeous Bali Vacation
If you're looking for a beautiful and genuine trip to Bali - you must stay at Villa Campuhan. No McDonalds or Pizza Huts here! First, the architecture, design and attention to detail is superb. I was there with a girl friend but it'd be great for a romantic couple. The staff was very helpful. They ended up scheduling us a hike up a volcano - with hot coffee and banana pancakes when we reached the summit! All the other tourists were so jealous. We also did an incredible hike through rice fields and even tried homemade palm wine from a local "brewer". They also scheduled a day of snorkeling around Amed which was incredible. The only day we weren't in love with it was a tour we booked ourselves to surf on the more popular side of the island. It's so crowded and nothing seemed authentic. Once you stay at Villa Campuhan you will be appalled by the tourist crowded parts of the island. They can provide meals but it wasn't automatically included which is nice since you're often out and about during the day or at night. We ate in half the nights. The menu is Balinese but they have an Australian head chef. This place is life-changing! If you're even just considering going, trust me - GO. You're missing out if you don't. I recommend staying at least 3 nights.

Villa Campuhan - a truly magical place!
Villa Campuhan - a truly magical place!
Villa Campuhan was the most incredible place we have experienced in Bali. The location is superb - palm trees, a pool, the ocean, rice paddies and a view of Mt Agung, it really does have everything! The joglo's are works of art themselves and the attention to detail is outstanding. We loved the openness of the room and having the breeze freely flowing throughout. The staff were fantastic! So helpful, warm and kind and are a big part of creating the peaceful ambiance that is Villa Campuhan. Would absolutely recommend Villa Campuhan to those happy to pay a little more and are looking for a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of touristy Bali.

Just what I needed. This is luxury for authentic nature lovers. Every possible need was met and very attentive staff and managers. All I had to do was show up. I will only stay here when visiting Bali.

First Trip to Bali
First Trip to Bali
I have found large hotels to be impersonal and less than memorable. Villa Jasi was just what I was looking for - something very traditional and unique without really "roughing it" as I was traveling alone with 2 small children. Location - excellent for experiencing the "real" Bali. I saw very few foreigners during our 4 day stay. The scenery with the volcano and ocean nearby was stunning. The local village, nearby water palaces, temples and other activities (white water river rafting) were fantastic. Location is truly remote; great for getting away. (May want to consider coming with own transportation) Accommodation - Exceeded expectation. Bed is comfortable (curtains/lighting could be very romantic). Shower/toilet was modern. Decoration really set the mood. Amenities were good (shampoo, soap, towels, snacks, tea, coffee, hot water, water). Great view. Nice fans. No air conditioning as the villa is all natural with air passing freely through the bamboo walls. No trouble sleeping at night, but a bit hot during the day. Facilities - Very good. The pool was gorgeous. The dining area is also stunning and you can choose to dine at the kitchen, a table by the ocean, poolside or at the dining room. Food - Excellent. To be honest, I have never been a big fan of Indonesian food, but everything we had was excellent. Choices are limited, but the quality is very high and everything is very fresh. Dinner was a feast with several different dishes - all very healthy and tasty and reasonable as well. Breakfast was amazing - fresh exotic fruit, fresh juice, coffee/tea, best ever scrambled eggs, toast and "breakfast of the day" (muesli, pancakes, fried banana, pudding etc). Staff - Cannot say enough. The staff really made the experience great. The watched my little one so I could eat, played with my older one who was missing his friends and helped make sure every activity we did was fantastic. They were great guides and worked to accommodate our every need and request. I have never had such personal service. They truly are first class. I have to say .... from the time I booked until the time I departed, I have never experienced such great customer service! Very accommodating for children as well (playpen, hot water for bottles, special baby meals etc)

Luxurious and Relaxing Balinese experience!
Luxurious and Relaxing Balinese experience!
Villa Campuhan exceeded our expectations! It is situated in a lovely spot, next to the ocean and a river with sunrise views over Mt Rinjani on Lombok. The architecture of the villas and main house is stunning. We had never seen anything like it. The property manager was exceedingly helpful (she helped us set up several wonderful excursions) and the staff attentive and courteous, always with warm smiles. A highlight of Villa Campuhan was daily breakfast and dinner. Breakfast ranged from western to Balinese options and dinner always showcased fresh local food in delicious Balinese creations. We loved relaxing in the oceanside infinity pool and then every night falling asleep to the sound of the waves. We look forward to returning to Villa Campuhan!

My vision of Paradise
Villa Jasi was a longtime dream fulfilled and truly my vision of paradise. The natural surroundings complimented by the individual beauty and comfort of the villas only enhanced the experience. This is a place to be if you desire thoughtful serenity while resting on a lounge by the pool that appears to be flowing into the ocean, being one with nature, excellent food and service catered to your needs, and the feeling of living in your own private place away from busy tourist resorts. Yet, you are close enough to venture out to explore the mystic of all that Bali has to offer." With a wish to return to paradise!

the property is amazing!!!
Barbara, Your Villas and the property is amazing!! I have stayed in all 5 stars resort and I have to say I am not disappointed here. Staying in large luxury hotels was great but never authentic. I am sitting in the living room facing the ocean and feels so darn fortunate! Your property made me smile because it is so charming yet still is luxury and a real sanctuary with personal touch. WOW. Feeling I am in real Bali!!!!

I was lucky enough to spend 3 nights in the amazing place. First point is that it is a bit of track after Candidasa but make it ideal to visit the East of Bali inlcuding many amazing diving schools and diving area accessible in less than 20/30 minutes, some great temples, markets, Bali Asis cooking school and restaurant and point of interests too. You can easily spend 7 busy days but can also do NOTHING like I did. Note that the Wifi is quite good so you can actually work form there too and Villa Jasi has the most amazing desk with a view to write, think and do some meaningful work. The garden was a bit in need of love in some area but I know from the manager that they are working on it. The FOOD was really nice and prepared with love I had breakfast, lunch and diner and loved them all. The STAFF is what Bali do best, always smile, available and helpful and the manager is regularly ensuring that your stay is the most comfortable. they also have a greta driver. The BIG point for me was the room, I mean the Villa it is superb, the bed is amazing, the feel is grandiose, the main house where you can relax in hammock or huge sofas and have your meals is out of the most wildest dreams. At the end it make the place very special. Please note that the property is made of different houses, Jasi was my preferred one but I was travelling alone, it is a very romantic house, they also have much larger options check the other property on same estate. I recommend for solo traveller in need of escape, family reuniting, honeymoon...

Little paradiseGuest comment entered by owner
After a long flight from Oakland California, we finally arrived in Bali Indonesia. A driver that the villa had helped arrange greeted us at the airport. After the two-hour drive on the coast, the driver turned off the main road onto a dirt road. I looked at my girlfriend and we shared a moment of where are we? After about 10 minutes the car came to stop at this beautiful wall and gate. We were greeted by the villa staff. We were tired and a bit weary of the place, however that all disappeared as soon as we crossed the threshold of the gate. The entrance itself is pure beauty but what waits on the other side is hard to explain. A large expanse of grass with tall palm trees guides yours eyes towards the braking waves just up ahead. The ocean was breath taking. We were taken to our room we stayed in Villa Jasi. The place is hard to believe. The room was clean and comfortable to say the least. We had a big comfy bed that looked onto a double window. From the window you can see the Honeymoon suite, the Long House, and beyond them the ocean. The three houses on this section of the property are all built around a gorgeous pond filled with life. The room, which is really a freestanding house, has windows on all sides. It’s surrounded by lush vegetation. The construction we were told is very typical of the Sumatran style homes. The house feels private enough but the windows give it a real indoor/outdoor feel. The part that we both loved the most was the shower. It is an open shower and the space is huge. The showerhead rains on you and washes away trace of hectic city life. The room is decorated with classic masks and antiques giving it a great adventurous feel. There are no TV or air conditioning and there is no need for them. The villa has all the luxuries one would want while still having an incredibly unique feel and experience to it. The staff will prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner and serve it wherever you want to eat it. The menu is extensive and the food is quite good. There is WIFI internet is most areas of the property which means you can relax while still staying in touch. The infinity pool sits next to the ocean and has great views early in the morning. While we were there a new spa was being built but you can ask the staff and they will arrange any spa service you desire to be done at the villa. The best part of Villa Campuhan is the grounds themselves. The houses are something like I’ve never seen before
