The house is nice and clean, everything you need is there. The garden offers lots of flowers, fruits and vegetables. We love the peppers, spiciest we'd ever had. I cannot recommend this property highly enough. My family and I spent 2 weeks staying at Io's house and we were all so sad to leave this lovely oasis in the heart of the city. We arrived very late after a long-haul flight with 2 children (age 3 & 11 months) but the fairy lights glistening in the garden & the vases of fresh flowers dotted around the house instantly made the house welcoming. Io & Schawn were wonderful hosts & so accomodating - nothing was too much trouble for them. The fridge was stocked with breakfast goodies and fresh fruit for our late arrival & Io had left a long list of great places to visit and things to do. There was also everything you could possibly want for travelling with babies & young children - a crib, high-chair & plenty of great books & toys. The house was so comfortable & incredibly well-equiped. The gardens were beautiful & one of my favourite things was to sit on the porch overlooking the flowers in the front yard on the bright sunny mornings. Atwater Village is a great area with lovely coffee shops and restaurants. It's also so close to the stunning Griffith Park & is just off the 2 or 5 freeways which means downtown LA, the beaches, LAX, Disneyland & even getting out of the city to the desert are really easy to reach. We are already planning when we can come back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I had a wonderful time here. It was in a very safe area of Atwater Village, very close to the 5. Lots of street parking, but my mother and I could walk to many restaurants and coffee shops. Io was a fantastic host and made us feel so at home. The kitchen had everything we needed. Every evening we used the projector to check email and watch Netflix. We will be back to sit in the yard and smell the lavender. I highly recommend this property!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay at this LA home. It's a beatiful period home that is tastefully decorated. Io kindly took the time to make sure everything was in order, even though we had a late arrival time. The home was nicely stocked with everything we needed to make our stay easy and pleasant. The beds were very comfortable and clean, and there was plenty of room, even for a family of our size. The location was great. We were only a 30 minute drive to Six Flags and about a 35-40 minute drive to Disnelyland. Io's gardens were absolutely beautiful. On two mornings, my young daughter and I sat outside while we ate breakfast just so we could enjoy the lush greenery and flowers. Our children loved the theater screen for watching movies and playing games. In fact, we were rained in one day and did not even care because the home was sizable enough and comfy enough that a movie by the fireplace was a relaxing treat instead of a vacation disappointment. Thanks Io. We plan to arrange a stay in your rental the next time we're in the area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family and I had the most peaceful , relaxing vacation. The owners were so incredibly warm, inviting, and gracious. The home suited all of our needs. The property itself exceeded any expectations we had. The entire area is filled with friendly neighbors (one even invited us for Easter dinner). The location is ideal to go to Griffith Park, Exposition Park (tons of Museums), and even the beach. We would highly recommend this property for a weekend away or a long term stay. It was amazing!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My entire experience, starting from the inquiry process to emailing with the owner about things left behind, was incredibly smooth and pleasant. Io was so helpful and enthusiastic; I immediately felt comfortable asking her questions and appreciated her thoroughness in answering them. The listing description and photos accurately presented the property-- it was spacious, in a quiet neighborhood, and had everything we needed. I was most impressed by the thought put into every detail of the house; it made every moment spent there enjoyable. It's obvious Io's invested a lot of time and love into the property. We have a ten month old baby, and because Io has a small child, she understands how difficult it can be traveling with a baby. When we arrived, she'd set up an actual crib, changing table, diaper genie, high chair, jumperoo, toys, and books. My daughter was thrilled and was able to smoothly transition. Our treat was the home theater- it seriously was like watching a movie at the theater. Another thing I loved about the house were the yards. On sunny mornings, my mom and I stretched in the front yard enjoying the privacy allowed by the wall of foliage. In the afternoons, my daughter would crawl around on the grass and gaze up at the palm trees. The yards are landscaped beautifully and have the feel of a secret garden. It was lovely. The neighborhood is away from the chaos of downtown but close enough to get there within 15 minutes by car. It was great for us because we had a lot of family events that we could get to easily since the freeway was close by. When we stayed in Atwater, we took a lot of nice walks, visited Griffith Park, had the BEST pupusas at a local mexican/salvadorean eatery on Fletcher, and a great breakfast at the village bakery. Although the house is spacious, it feels cozy and warm. We cooked several meals in the kitchen that boasts state of the art appliances and le crueset cookware. The beds were super comfortable, and there's plenty of room for four+ people. My 93 year old grandmother who hates sleeping anywhere else besides her own bed, stayed there the first two nights and said she hadn't slept that well in a long time. The first night she slept 8 hours straight without once getting up to go to the bathroom. She was very surprised and quite pleased. I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants a comfortable stay in LA!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family and I stayed at this wonderful house for the month of February 2012. Io, the property's owner who lives in the house at the rear of the garden, couldn't have been more accommodating to my family's needs. We have a 9 month old and a two year old and Io sourced all of the paraphernalia required (highchairs, changing table etc). She also lent us many of her two year old son's toys and even babysat for us one evening and invited us for an amazing meal on another occasion. The house is very well equipped and retains many of its original features. The garden is idyllic and also very private and secure. The kitchen comes complete with everything you could ask for and the 12'x8' video cinema screen was a treat for the whole family. Atwater is a family friendly area and the main strip (Glendale Blvd) is within walking distance and has several great bars, restaurants and coffee shops - as well as a library, a cool thrift store and a Bikram yoga centre. LA's crowning glory, Griffith Park, is only a 10 minute drive away and is walkable within 45 minutes. LAX can be reached by car within 30 mins and Downtown and Hollywood within 20 minutes. The Americana shopping mall is a 10 minute drive as are the bars, shops and restaurants of Silverlake. We would certainly recommend renting this property and intend to return within the next year. Io and her family were the perfect hosts, the house is delightful and Atwater is both quaint and trendy in equal measure.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose Los Angeles:
Atwater village is one of the best areas in the city for visitors because it has many restaurants, bars, cafe's,and shops you can stroll to. It's also only a few minutes away by car to Silverlake, Echo Park,Los Feliz ,Eagle Rock and other fun areas.Atwater village is right by the 5 freeway so you can jump on and go to Disney land or magic mountain, or take ashort trip to Downtown L.A. . We're also just ten minutes from the L.A Zoo,the observatory ,Travel Town and The Autry Museum of Western Heritage. You can also enjoy many hikes in Griffith park or take a stroll down to the L.A river.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is very private and feels like your away from it all even though your right in the middle of it. The best part of the house in my opinion is the home movie theatre. Nothing like making a fire and curling up and watching a movie in the grand old living room! It's also lovely to enjoy coffee in the morning outside at the garden table. There are many hummingbirds and even some wild parrots that have been flying by every day!
