Map & Owner's Profile
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Massanutten Resort
While on a weekend ski trip over President’s Day 2004, we fell in love with Massanutten Resort and purchased our first second home, The Retreat at Massanutten. We have now vacationed at Massanutten for more than seven years and used the resort for many years to get away from the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, for winter skiing and summer outdoor fun. No other resort near Washington, DC offers as wide a variety of activities as Massanutten, and at such a great value for the family to get away together. Since 2004, we have added three additional Massanutten homes to our inventory and rented to more than 430 different families. We hope you will enjoy The Retreat at Massanutten as much as our family and our guests have.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The Retreat at Massanutten is normally our primary second home when we stay at Massanutten Resort, although we stay at all of our properties at the resort to ensure the quality remains high. The Retreat is the perfect home to accommodate family gatherings, both large and small. While the four homes we own are all tastefully decorated, The Retreat is exceptionally well appointed and kept up. Over the last seven years we have carefully stocked The Retreat with activities, such as foosball, movies, arcade games, kids toys, books and an electronic dart board. The Retreat is also uniquely situated at the top of the mountain, right in the middle of all of the activities. It backs up to the George Washington National Forest and is perfect for enjoying your getaway vacation.

We really enjoyed staying at the Retreat for a weekend in October. 12 adults had plenty of room to spread out. Guys loved the game room. Nicely stocked kitchen and very clean overall. Owner was very helpful in suggesting local restaurants/sites as well and very responsive in answering any questions. A little wear and tear around the edges, but overall great place and would stay here again.

We had a terrific weekend here. 8 adults, and 10 kids... yet there was plenty of room for all 18 of us, and are already planning to all come back for a do-over next year! The rooms are actually bigger in reality than they appear in the pictures.

Stayed at "The Retreat" in Feb, and had a great time. The house is in a great location in relation to the ski lifts, about 5 min away. Had 10 adults in the group, and had plenty of room for everyone. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone going to enjoy the Massanutten resort!

16 members of my family and friends stayed at the unit during the weekend of Jan. 7-9, 2010. We really enjoyed ourselves. The house rental was right on the massanutten property with no more then a 2 to 4 min drive to the slopes. The house was well put together and we had everything that was needed on the property. The owner was very nice and he accommondated us even though we requested in a short time frame. We would greatly recommend this property to anyone that is looking for a nice get away. The house is located near all attraction on and off the massanutten property. We can wait to revist the property very soon Thank you, William

We stayed here last weekend at the peak of fall colors. We were 6 couples with 6 kids and had a great time here. We loved the open kitchen and living room. The kitchen was well equipped and there were lots of games and DVDs for the kids. The kids loved the bunk beds too. We played a lot of foosball in the game room. They have a covered rear deck which was good for the evenings (no insects because of the mesh). We also had a nice barbecue party one evening. Only if the small bedroom had a queen bed instead of a twin bed, it would have been ideal. The owner gave a very good deal too. So, all in all I would say it is a great place.
Owner response:These guests were a pleasure to work with.

My family greatly enjoyed the week we spent at Massanutten. Your house with its large great room was perfect, and since we also used one of our time share condos, sleeping arrangements were great.
