Monmouth Beach cottage description
3 Cottage Rd was built in the late 1890's and through much renovation and restoration, continues to maintain the feeling of what it was like to live at the beach in another time - all within easy access to NYC via high speed commuter ferry, local trains or the nearby bus route.
At the turn of the century the town of Monmouth Beach was a summer retreat for many prominent families from the New York and Philadelphia areas.
Although it has now become a year round community, Monmouth Beach continues to attract summer vacationers who enjoy the peace and quiet of living in a small beach town setting.
Althought the peace and quiet of our town was interrupted by the recent Hurricane Sandy Storm, our century old home turned out to be an example of why new things are not always better. Like most of the turn of the century homes along Ocean Ave, 3 Cottage Rd came throught the storm beautifully.
On the first floor a new fully equipped kitchen has been renovated and updated for indoor and outdoor entertaining. The large living room, dining and reading rooms complete the downstairs part of the rental and all have 10' ceilings.
The second floor includes a large master bedroom suite, guest bedroom with french doors that lead to widow's walk and beautiful views of the neighborhood and the Atlantic Ocean. This upper floor also has full bath and seperate laundry room with washer/dryer and plenty of storage for linens, etc.

About the owner: My wife and I have lived at 3 Cottage Rd for over 30 years and are only the third owners of this turn of the century seashore home. Our two grown daughters that were raised here and actually decided that our lawn was the perfect place to get married. We have a small sailboat and also play golf at many of the local public courses. We both travel for both business and pleasure and enjoy escaping to the California desert in Palm Desert for winter golfing. Because of the layout of our house and the nature of our business, we have had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world who have rented here and continue to keep in touch.

Although the look of Monmouth Beach has changed somewhat over the years, the small town feeling has not. Living at the beach, cooking out at night or something as simple as watching the sunrise over the ocean each morning are the things that still mean a lot to us, and have appealed to our renters as well.

Ideal for professional couples who want to be at the beach for the summer, but still need to be at the office, our location is a commuter's dream. Many of our previous renters have owned primary homes in New York or other parts of the world, and appreciated the ability to enjoy all be advantages and flexibiity of renting a second home without the complications of owning it. Just a short cab ride from the high speed Manhattan ferry on Friday and your at your home at the beach - it's as simple as that.
