Why the Owner Chose Picton:
I live and work in Toronto. I have been visiting Prince Edward County for over 20 years. I was, and continue to be drawn by the County's scenic beauty, its relaxed and friendly "island" culture, and its deep historical roots. The county has changed a great deal, over the past couple of decades. It has become a mecca for wine, food and art lovers and is frequented by many more visitors. These developments have enhanced the experience without compromising the core character of the place. As my connection to the County deepened, I decided to purchase a property for recreational use. Finding this cozy, Victorian house in central Picton was a dream come true. Knowing the County well means that I can welcome guests and provide them with enthusiastic advice about how to make the most of their vacation here.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I love staying in this house. The sunlight streams in all day long. The street is quiet and the neighbours are kind and considerate. We can park the car for the entire weekend and walk to dinner, cultural events and shopping. There are so many things to enjoy while staying here: peaceful walks at night, along Picton Harbour; breakfast at the Picton Harbour Inn; shopping along Main Street; picking up a NY Times at Books & Co.; grabbing a Bhudda dog for lunch; listening to live music at Acoustic Grill; buying cheeses at Fifth Town and Black River; checking out wineries; picking fruit in Waupoos followed by wood oven pizza on the outdoor patio at County Cider with its spectacular lake views; bike riding along the Sandbanks; hiking at Macauley mountain park; winding down the day with a glass of wine on the back deck at sunset and then walking through the backyard to the Merrill Inn for dinner. The house is a two minute walk from major, annual events like Taste the County, the Picton Fair and the Maker's Hand craft fair. There is so much to see and do in the area that it seems like there is never enough time to partake of County life as much as I would like to.
