Government Camp condo description
Mountain modern chic in the snow - a fabulous designer loft in center of Govy above the General Store - Condo #6 at the Lodges at Government Camp.
Built by Timberline Lodge in 2006, this stunning building is the focal point of Government Camp. It houses an upscale grocery and liquor store on the ground floor, and eight luxury loft-condos accessible by elevator on the first and second floors.
The loft at #6 offers a warm contemporary feel - a beautiful Oregon walnut dining table seats up to 8, with Eames chairs, Della Robbia sofas, DWR lighting and a calm flow throughout.
Soaring 20 foot windows look out onto the snow - see the summit of Mt Hood and slopes of Skibowl from the windows and the deck. East facing, so sun-drenched in the mornings and always well-lit all day. Full length blinds ensure darkness at night.
A gas fireplace in the great room provides warmth and calm ambience for the living, dining and kitchen areas.
Two large master bedrooms each offer a full attached bathroom with radiant heat floors, and one with a steam shower. There is a full kitchen, full laundry, a BBQ on deck, and one car park under the building, with room for one other car in front of the condo.
Pop downstairs to the Govy General Store for fabulous BBQ chickens or Ribeye or any other items of food and liquor - open from 7.30am to 8 pm. Over the road to the bakery for your morning cappucino, and to the Ratskeller for Pizza, or the Huckleberry for the best mountain breakfast and maple bars - city living in the mountain snow.
Ski the two-mile Glade Trail from historic Timberline Lodge and ski back to the front door of the condo, or take the 3 minute drive over to Ski-bowl east - the best tubing slope on Mt. Hood and one of the best terrain resorts on the west coast. Night ski at Ski-bowl any night of the week, and come home for dinner within a 3 minute drive. Snow-shoe and cross-country trails are accessible from the front door.
None of Mt. Hood's three ski-resorts are more than a 20 minute drive away. 150 meters to Ski Bowl East, 15 minutes up the mountain to Timberline, and 20 minutes around the mountain to Mt. Hood Meadows.
Rent includes the complimentary use of the pools at Timberline Lodge, and renters discounts for Timberline lift tickets and at some restaurants.

Perfect Place To Stay
Perfect Place To Stay
We loved it so much that it was hard to leave. The condo was very clean and the location was great. We would recommend it and would go back again. The bed was so comfortable and they spared no expense on the bed linens and towels - GREAT!!! The reserved parking space was a little tight, so if you're traveling in a big vehicle you might need to squeeze out. We would recommend Charlie's Restuarant across the street, (we liked it so much that we went twice) and the Ice Axe down the street. The General Store just below will have everything you need to get by. Everything in the pictures are exactly what you get, but at the same time they don't do it justice. This is everything you would want from a "home away from home."

Manager response: Thanks so much for being our guests and taking the time to post a review of our loft condo. We are so glad you had a great stay and got to sample the restaurants in the village around our condo. If you head up again try the new Glacier Haus just next to the Huckleberry Inn - fabulous traditional European alpine cuisine. Parking is at a premium in Govy - especially when it is heaving with the apres ski crowd - but we hope the undercover carport at the back of our building was convenient and not too tricky to get in and out of. Happy holidays!

About: We are a family of four living in Portland. Our teenagers are ski-racers and train at Ski-Bowl every weekend from Thanksgiving to the end of March. We rent out our condo when we are not using it ourselves. I am an Interior Designer and did the fit-out on the condo with the intention of creating a warm, modern nest, above the snow, filled with light and positive energy to offset the grey days of the Oregon winter, and to capture the vibrancy of the Oregon summer. Because we have used high end furniture and lighting, we have limited rental to families of 4 or 5 only. Hope you enjoy.
Why Government Camp:
Government Camp is a thriving center for adventure sports, and always buzzing with people and activity. This is a great place for teenagers - lots to do, and safe to explore the few streets of this little alpine village. In summer the basketball hoop in the car-park of the Huckleberry Inn is always a great place for a pick-up game with other teens travelling through. The summer snowboarding and skiing camp scene is always a frenzy of young athletes who come to Govy from all over the world. Camp curfew is 9pm, but until then the village is buzzing with kids at the skateboard park next door in front of the Cascade Ski Club, or the dodge ball courts up the road, or the mountain bike bowls set up behind Charlie's Bar, or the food carts around the village. Unicorn Food, Volcanoe Cones or Cobra Dogs - something for everyone!! There is energy all winter and all summer, and solitude in the beauty of spring and autumn. Truly one of the best parts of Oregon - and best things to do close to Portland.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
The condo is directly above the fabulous General Store in Govy, so we can watch the world go by outside our windows, and not have to plan our trips too carefully as we can pop downstairs and buy whatever we need from the store, on the spur of the moment. We love being able to ring Judi and Cliff who manage the store and set aside a BBQ chicken or Prime Rib - and run down to pick it up from the warmer when we are ready to eat. Almost like living in a hotel. No shoveling snow, or vying for a parking spot, or getting the heat going. Just turn-key living where we can concentrate on getting out into the snow. Equally in summer - getting out to the Alpine Park and the Alpine Slide - puddling around at frog lake. Our deck is a great spot to view the runners passing through town on the Hood to Coast race in September.
