Escape and relax in our cozy cabin on the Au Sable River.

Location: Grayling, Michigan, USA (Take I-75 and then directly off of Highway 72).

Accommodations: Log cabin - Three bedrooms, living room/kitchen, two full baths, covered front porch, and screened-in back porch. (sleeps 13). Two full-sized beds, 7 twin beds, futon. Crib available.

Welcome to our peaceful cabin in the woods. It is located 200 feet from the Au Sable River, with vacant state land only across the river. Open year-round, you will find it has everything to offer, just bring your clothes and food. We even supply some of that, like coffee, tea, condiments, and a few things in the pantry.

Our cabin is located 10 minutes from charming, downtown Grayling. While downtown, step back in time and visit Dawson-Stevens Ice Cream Parlor. On the opposite side of the ice cream parlor enjoy some of the best pizza and breadsticks around at the Bears Den. While there, take time to look at some of the pictures of the legendary bow hunter, Fred Bear. Visit the antique store, the Quilt Store, the Bike Shop, and the Rialto movie house, and the new North Country Corner, in addition to other downtown stores.

Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of our cabin while curled up in our porch swing or front porch rocking chairs. Listen and watch for the many birds, including hawks and occasionally a bald eagle. We supply the bird seed to keep the feeders filled. Take one of the two kayaks provided (Spring through Fall), down the path, through the woods, and slip into the peaceful Au Sable River for a gentle paddle. You very well might see an otter. Five minutes upstream from the dock will be your last sight of a cabin. (You'll only pass three!) You will be paddling through pristine wilderness. Once in awhile you might see a fly fisherman walking through the water. Paddle downstream from the dock and you will pass some beautiful cabins. If you really want to put in a few hours in the water you can paddle right into downtown Grayling!

We offer most modern conveniences. We provide board games, cards, checkers, puzzles and children's books. There is a charcoal grill right outside the screened-in back porch. Relax there and have your supper, read a book or stretch out and watch for deer or wild turkey.

Nearby attractions include famous Mackinac Island (85 miles north), Hartwick Pines State Park (15 minutes), Hanson Hills Ski Resort/Park (10 minutes), Lake Margrethe, Higgins & Houghton Lakes, Gaylord (golf), Traverse City / Lake Michigan, Petoskey, Tanger Outlet Center (45 minutes south) and many others. Snowmobiling on the many trails that meet in Grayling, Close to Bear Lake Trailhead. Brochures are at the cabin, if needed, for many nearby sites.

Our cabin is easily accessible, located on a private, dead-end road that is maintained year-round.

    • This was our 2nd trip to Memory Maker.. We enjoy the quite and we just discovered this year that you can get a pizza delivered!! :-) It is easy to feel 'at home' at Memory Maker. Personally, I am already counting the days until our trip next August. :-)

    • This is the second time we've stayed in the cabin. This time we brought members of Mike's family and we all enjoyed it. We had great weather and everything was wonderful. We'd consider coming again some day!

    • This was our second year at this wonderful cabin and we are already planing for next year there. The cabin is clean, comfortable, close enough to town for convenience but isolated enough for privacy and wildlife. There are numerous things to do at the cabin and in the environs or just sit back and take it easy.

    • We really enjoyed our stay at the MemoryMaker cabin with Rick & Kathy Kleinsmith and our families. It was a beautiful snowy weekend and lots of relaxation time. The numerous deer in the front yard just added to our great weekend. The accomodations were wonderful. Thank you so much. • Ellen and Pat, We had a super time at the cabin. It was everything that we prayed that it would be. The cabin was so comfortable, the setting so peaceful and beautiful, the snow and river recreational opportunities so complete, and the time for peace and relaxation unencumbered. We have just come through several months of challenge and this time away was so needed. Your Memory Maker cabin was “just what the Doctor ordered.” Thanks for all your attention to detail that left us with nothing more to request. We look forward to enjoying your property again. All the best, Tim & Sue Walberg

    • My husband and I have been going North for many years and have stayed all over the Northern Michigan area enjoying everything that Michigan has to offer. By far this was the most peaceful - scenic place we have stayed. The cabin is in such a wonderful setting - complete with anything you would want. We are grateful to those who share such a beautiful place. If you've never had a Michigan experience this cabin will keep you coming back for more! Linda & Jim Bowling Green Ohio

    • Thank you for a wonderful week-end. It is such a beautiful and relaxing place. When we first arrived there was six inches of snow or more on every part of the land. It was so gorgeous and it felt like no one else was around for miles! We especially liked the tree that grew over the dock. Almost the perfect resting place to watch nature. The stars were amazing on Saturday night. We don't get to see stars like that often. We were expecting it to be a great place just from the pictures and are happy to say that our expectations were exceeded. The warmth from the fireplace and the peacefulness of the area were amazing. The 3.5 hr. drive there and the almost 4 hr. drive home were well worth it!
