Banner Elk cabin description

THIS TRADITIONAL LOG CABIN is ideal for two couples and sleeps up to eight people. It has two master suites, each with king beds, and a private third bedroom.

The property is two miles from downtown Banner Elk, located between two large upscale communities. It's close to dining, shopping, parks, golf, skiing, hiking and zip-lining. Fourth of July is a special treat, with old-style celebrations scheduled nearby.

Our family shares this cabin with my husband's parents, who named the property Minorcan Ridge. We built the cabin in 1996 and added the upstairs master suite in 2002.

Both suites have their own television, washer/dryer unit and bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and gadgets. The upstairs loft has wireless internet, with a desk that accommodates two laptops.

Outside, there's a roomy front deck and a small creek that runs down the edge of the property toward Elk River, which is a short walk away.

There are a handful of other homes on this private mountainside. The road down to the river gets very little traffic and makes for an invigorating hike. Many guests report spotting wild turkeys and deer along the way.

Guests also spend lots of time on the front deck, enjoying the mountain air.

All the previous reviews are spot on. Stayed 3 nights for a ski weekend. Cabin is 10 miinutes from Sugar Mtn and 5 minutes from Banner Elk city center (plenty of dinning choices). Excellent cabin with plenty of room for 6 to 8 people. The Owners took EXCEPTIONAL care of us via email with driving directions and especially during the winter storm on Jan 3rd. Cabin is fully furnished....seriously, all you need to bring is food. Cabin is exceptionally well maintained, clean and inviting. We will return in the future and will be recommending to friends and family.

We had the privilege to spend all of Christmas week in this wonderfully accommodating cabin. It has everything you need and any essentials you may have left at home, plenty of room to stretch out in (it's a very spacious cabin!) and a gorgeous view to top it off. Our kids loved it- lots of board games, books and comfy chairs to lounge in. The owner's definitely keep the place well maintained with lots of specials touches. We will definitely be back!! Thank you, Daniela!!

Classmates from the class of 1966 gathered together with their spouses in Banner Elk for a mini-reunion to celebrate our "official entry into old age and social security." This cabin was the perfect place for this event. The cabin was very spacious (pictures are deceiving), decorated beautifully, very clean, wonderfully comfortable, and perfectly outfitted with any and everything possible. All we had to do was open a cupboard or drawer, look hanging on the wall, or check hanging on the refrigerator to find anything we needed. We spent most of our time sitting on the porch laughing. Surely the neighbors wondered what could have been so funny to keep us laughing for four days. However, this porch just beckoned us to continue our walks down memory lane hour after hour. The porch was also spacious. There were chairs enough for everyone, two tables for outdoor dining and drinks, and a killer view. One afternoon it rained, so we just scooted our chairs under the covered area on the porch and continued our outside fun. Accommodations included two king beds and two trundle beds. This worked fine for our group since one couple stayed at their own place in Banner Elk at night. In the cabin were two couples and one single, so the beds worked okay. If all three couples had stayed, the trundle beds would have been less than suitable - but as it was, sleeping quarters were great. NOTE: When we arrived, bed linens were folded at the foot of our beds so all we had to do was make the beds. One of the best features of the house was three private bathrooms. All bathrooms were complete with matching towels, soaps, hand lotion, well - again, anything we needed and them some. Everyone commented on how much they appreciated having their own space to unpack and leave their personal toiletries, makeup, etc. Very nice touch. I must comment on the location of this cabin. We traveled all over this area while we were in Banner Elk. We went to some locations with higher elevations - and even in July it was almost too cool at these locations to sit outside. Not at our cabin. The location was perfect. Very pleasant during the day and even more perfect in the late evening. The cabin was minutes away from grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping - yet secluded enough to envelope you in the wonderfully calm beauty of the North Carolina mountains. A perfect summer get-away. We would love to rent this cabin again. *The owners were wonderful and easy to work with

CABIN: plenty of space for a family of 6; the layout is very spacious. One bedroom went unused because the kids loved the layout of the upstairs master suite w/ side bedroom/den. Ample space for everyone to spread out, be comfortable and have their private space. The cabin was very clean, organized and well maintained. Plenty of supplies and it was easy to find and/or locate linens, pots, pans, etc. We loved the decor; very homey, welcoming and tasteful. I spent many long moments gazing out the large windows admiring the incredible view. LOCATION: so close to major attractions (skiing, tubing, town(s), etc). Great restaurants in the area. The property is easy to find. The views are awesome. The surrounding land is steep, but with caution, we were able to walk, hike and explore the area/property, OWNERS: exceptional! WORDS OF WISDOM: We visited the last week of December and were BLESSED with snow almost every day. Our Suburban (that does NOT have 4x4) couldn't make it up the driveway without chains on the rear tires. We were told by several people, that if we didn't have a 4x4 vehicle, at least purchase chains and thankfully, my husband listened. It was our saving grace to get up the driveway, get up to Beech Mountain and down from Hawksnest (after we got caught in a winter-mix storm). So, if you're going in the winter, and don't have 4x4, chains should be considered. We were very fortunate to have found this gem. We enjoyed it so much, we plan on returning!

Minorcan Ridge is a large home that easily accommodated our family of four. Two families could stay here and still have elbow room. The view is beautiful and the home is well appointed. While you are close to town and other homes in the area, you still feel like you are in a private location. Very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to Beech and Sugar Mountains for skiing. The owners are very nice and when we go back to Banner Elk, we hope to rent this property again.

We have stayed at this cabin a number of times, and each one is a wonderful getaway vacation. The peacefulness and quiet right from the beginning are just wonderful! The house is comfortable and stylish - a perfect set up for a family or for adult couples traveling together. The views are spectacular and all the conveniences are right at hand. Plus, the house is immaculately maintained and the layout is welcoming for group and individual activities. I can't imagine a better place to stay in the beautiful North Carolina mountains.

My family had the opportunity to stay at this home during the last summer and had a wonderful experience. The house is very clean with a fantastic floor plan for family fun. Our family and friends stayed at the home during the same week and had the privacy you only find in an unique home, such as this one, with two double master suites. The location allows for intimate family experiences while still being close to hiking, shopping, arts, and many other adventures. Five star fun was had by all!
