Old Hookers Guest House ~ Bighorn River
Fort Smith, Montana ~ 90 minutes south of Billings
Old Hookers...the playful name says it all: this is a play house designed for fly fishing parties, as well as hunters, vacationers and family reunions. The house is fully equipped and ready to unpack and settle in, with all the amenities of your own personal house near the river.
The 5-bedroom home is located on the scenic edge of the fishing village of Fort Smith, Montana -- less than a mile from the Bighorn River and some of the best tailwater trout fishing in the world.
Why the unusual name of Old Hookers? Mostly it's a reference to the oldest profession known to man -- fishing. If you're thinking of that OTHER oldest profession...well, we've had fun linking our decor to that one, as well. Fort Smith, like all towns on the historic Bozeman Trail, has colorful stories of the men and women who tamed it, including the frontier harlots who earned their place in western history. No, we do NOT offer any such service, in case you were wondering, but there is some whimsical tribute to the early bordellos in our house decor.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer w/detergent & dryer sheets, two satellite TVs (one up, one down), wood-burning fireplace w/wood, a screened entertainment porch, a gear room for rods/waders/guns, horseshoe pits, a large casting yard and a spectacular view of the Bozeman Trail.
The house has 10 total beds:
Main (upper level):
The Buckskin Room has 2 queens and en suite bath
The Old Coot has 2 queens, and shares a hall bath with The Angler, which has 2 full beds
Lower level:
The Mesquite has 2 queens and an adjacent bath
The Harlot has 2 fulls and an adjacent bath
The view off our main deck and screened porch is the Bozeman Trail: a serene, mountain meadow, backed by foothills and the red canyon walls of Bighorn National Recreation Area. The front of the house faces Fort Smith, so the location is easy walking distance to fly shops, eateries, the market and post office. The Afterbay boat launch of the Bighorn River is a half-mile away from our door.
The house is non-smoking, although guests are welcome to use the three outdoor decks.
Respectful pets are welcome at an additional charge

Bighorn Lake & Canyon View on map
This long, narrow, spectacular lake is more than 70 miles long and was formed by the creation of Yellowtail Dam. The lake is 200 to 500 ft. deep and most areas can only be accessed by boat. In summer months, it is popular for fishing (trout, carp, bass), boating, waterski, jetski, etc. A small marina near Ft. Smith services the lake (Ok-a-Beh Marina), with boat launch, boat slips (nightly or seasonal rental) and rental pontoons.
