We spent a marvelous week in Washington D.C. with this jewel of an apartment as our base. It is nestled in a delightful neighborhood with little restaurants and a fabulous bagel breakfast stop! Inside all our needs were met with the latest updates in appliances, bathroom amenities and much more including a bed that was so comfortable we had to set an alarm to make us get up! At the end of a busy day with lots of walking it was a joy to relax here and use the WIFI to "catch up". Far superior to any hotel the warmth of this place and its neighborhood made our vacation perfect. Our hostess was very responsive as well. You can't do better than this! Our family of four stayed in this apartment for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our accommodations. The property has been beautifully updated and is very clean and well-stocked. Union Station is only a 10-minute walk away; Eastern Market and the Capitol are about 15 minutes. Monica was easy to contact when we had questions both before and during our trip. She has also compiled a gem of a folder complete with metro passes, pamphlets, maps, instructions, etc. Everything you need to get your bearings is there. I would highly recommend this apartment in a lovely, historic neighborhood. And, by the way, if you're traveling when it's cold outside, there are heated floors inside and a gas fireplace. Very, very cozy!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a lovely, comfortable and meticulously clean apartment that is perfect for a family of 3 or 4. ( Note that the futon couch in living room is a double bed). The photos and site information are very accurate. There were numerous supplies available for the house, and Moncia always responds rapidly, by phone or email, to any questions. We rented the apartment for more than a month during November and December while visiting family, and were thrilled to have such a fabulous kitchen so we could help prepare holiday meals. The fireplace adds a wonderful, cozy touch. The apartment is a convenient walk to many Capitol Hill landmarks, Union Station, the parks, and Eastern Market. If you are visiting family in Capitol Hill, be sure to have your family get a guest parking pass for that zone and you will be able to park on the street in the area. We look forward to returning!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

This is such a cute, well appointed property. The owner has marvelous taste and the place showed her excellence in choices. The location is safe and perfect for sightseeing. It is walking distance to Union Station, "the market", and General Stanton Park. There are good and varied places to eat nearby. We loved every aspect of this fine living arrangement and very much appreciated the owner's responsiveness to us. We would easily recommend to others as we had a great experiece and are looking forward to renting the unit again in the near future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed in this unit for an extended weekend at the end of October. The unit itself was very clean, well appointed and had everything we could have needed and then some. Monica was very quick to respond to any questions and even left two Smart Trip cards for the metro which was an added bonus. The unit is in a fairly quiet part of capitol hill and just a short walk to Union Station making it an ideal location too. I travel to DC as much as I can and we'll definitely be staying again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This vacation rental should be placed among your Top Three best in the District. Very centrally located and in a wonderful, clean and quiet neighborhood. The apartment is well maintained and provides very accomodating amenities for every traveler. It truly felt like a home away from home. The owner is attentive and responsive to the needs of her guests. Although I have traveled to DC quite frequently in the last three years, this was my first venture into a vacation home rental. It proved to be one of my most pleasant stays. If you are in DC for business or pleasure, I would highly recommend this property and I look forward to staying there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were traveling down the east coast on our honeymoon and DC was our 2nd stop and this apartment was by far the best place we stayed. This apartment was absolutely amazing. It was great to stay in a modern, updated clean apartment with all the amenities available. Monica, the owner, was readily available by phone even though she was out of town. She had a book of recommendations available for us on the table which we found very useful. Like other reviewers stated, the Eastern Market was phenomenal and a very short walk down the street; I highly recommend it to anyone coming to DC, especially staying here with the amazing kitchen available to cook all the wonderful food bought at the Eastern Market. The location of the apartment was perfect and close to everything we wanted to do. We walked all over the city and when we didn't feel like walking, the Capital Bike Share was right across the street. Union Station was only a half mile away which was helpful when we wanted to use the subway/metro to travel. The neighborhood was extremely safe and welcoming. I hope to stay here next year when we visit DC for our anniversary. I HIGHLY recommend this apartment to anyone coming to DC. Thank you so much Monica for the amazing accommodations!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The property was perfect, very modern, updated, and clean. The owner was very available. We even called her for directions back home one day! It was a perfect location, so close to resturants which we walked to every night, walsking distance to central station, rental bikes across the street. We went to the Eastern Market on Saturday and Sunday, which I highly recommend going. Neighborhood was safe. I would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone for 3 people or under. We were able to use the owners washer and dryer. Just loved the property in every way. Even loved sitting on the front steps just people watching. was so interesting to see how other people live and we just lived right among them!! The neighbors were very friendly also. They stopped and introduced themselves to us on their way out one day. Even had a Metro Bus stop about 2 houses down and had a park 1 block down also. Thanks Monica for everything! It couldn't have been more perfect!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: My husband is an architect and I am a graphic designer. We've raise two kids on the Hill and now they are off to college. We've lived in this neighborhood for over 25 years and absolutely love it!
Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill:
Capitol Hill is our home. We love it and know you will too!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Capitol Hill is a wonderful neighborhood full of pocket parks and beautiful old homes. Beyond the monuments and museums there is a whole other side to Washington. We love walking to Eastern Market on the weekends to get fresh fruits and veggies. The fresh pasta is the best! We take a stroll through the flea market and then sit with a good cup of coffee and watch the world go by.
I love to cook and we both love to eat! Washington has lots of restaurants with every possible ethnic variety available. H Street, NE just a few minutes away has many nice options from Asian to Ethiopian to Belgian. On 8th Street SE you will find great burgers, seafood and homemade pop tarts.
We love to walk and have recently given up our car. The public transportation options are so plentiful we just didn't need it anymore. You can go by Metro, bus, or Bikeshare. If you need a car Zipcars are plentiful and close by. For those who come to DC by car there is off street parking at Union Station a 10 minute walk away.
