  My girlfriend and myself met up with friends of ours who were biking through central America and Mexico. The island hotels and guest houses were pretty booked but we got lucky and found that the Blue Turtle was free for most of our stay. We had to spend one night in a hotel before checking in to the house which made it even that much nicer. Michael was a really great dude and helped us with any questions we had. He could also get us discounted beer which was huge considering the prices the convenient stores charged. It's a little bit of a walk from the action but you totally get used to it. Plus the exercise was very beneficial for a couple of out of shape North Carolinian's such as ourselves. Also had the pleasure of speaking with Amanda on the phone just to make sure we had our ducks in a row. She was very cool and very helpful with all of my questions. If this is your first trip to Caye Caulker (which it was mine) then you are in for a treat. Absolutely the coolest place I have ever traveled. We felt the vibe immediately as we stepped off the water taxi and carried that vibe through our entire trip. Couple of recommendations... for breakfast/lunch or dinner 'Meldy's' will treat you right, espically the prices. Happy hour/dinner at 'Bamboozed' or the split. Dinner at 'Rosie's'. Snorkeling through Carlos' Tours. Also if your there on a Friday night the 'Barrier Reef' sports bar had a very cool open mic/jam night. The only place we caught live music and was a very cool party. I will never forget this trip and I will certainly return to the island and hopefully this house. It is that cool, I promise you. Peace.

  We had a fantastic time here. The house is lovely, and the pool pristine. Michael is available at a minute's notice to help with everything. We have kids under 6 so had to ban them from the ladder to the loft, and the property's right by the air strip so there is the occasional noise of planes, but it didn't bother us. Great holiday, although we felt the bikes on the property should have been complimentary, since it's quite a hike with small kids into town (20 mins) and coughing up $150 for bikes at the end felt harsh.

  We spent a week on Caye Caulker for our daughter's wedding and were so lucky to find this house! It was perfect. There were 5 of us staying at the house, and it could easily have accommodated a couple more people without feeling cramped. The house feels open and airy, and the high wood ceilings are beautiful. The front porch and pool deck add extra spaces for people to hang out. We wondered if we would miss out on being right in the middle of town (where the other wedding guests were staying) but we really enjoyed the quick bike ride or walk to "town". We also enjoyed the modern plumbing, judging from others' experiences elsewhere on the island! The property manager, Michael, couldn't be more helpful--getting us and our luggage golf cart rides, arranging airport transfers, even brought us a case of Belekin! (Helpful hint: When shopping on a bike, you need to keep in mind the size of the bike basket!) We highly recommend this house and would not hesitate to stay here again. Also recommend Habaneros, which would be a first class restaurant anywhere, but definitely best on the island. Magandon was also an excellent meal, and Paradiso Cafe, where we had many breakfasts. All in all, an outstanding experience!

  What a perfect place to stay. The property is beautiful, and the manager is wonderful. This house met every one of our expectations, and then some. The house is nestled a couple of blocks away from the action, which is the perfect distance to have the best of both worlds. The bikes that you are able to rent with the home, are all brand new, and well looked after. The neighbours are fantastic. This house has a gorgeous pool (super clean) and boasts a large deck, for lazing around. I would definitely recommend this house, especially to families. We can't wait to visit and stay here again. My only complaint, if I were to have one, would be a need for one or two more pots with lids for cooking.This was a very small con for a long list of pros. Thanks for having us Blue Turtle, we'll miss you. Till we meet again.

  Our ten days en La Tortuga Azul were magical. It is the perfect home base from which to explore all that Caye Caulker and the surrounding waters and islands have to offer. And the perfect home to cozy up in. Surrounded by picket fence, the property is newly landscaped with a wide variety of rapidly-growing tropical plants whose blooms are staggered through the year. Upon entering the house, the first thing that struck me was the beautiful woodwork, particularly the multi-colored ceiling. The light coming through the colorful curtains bounces off the wood and fills the home with a glowing and inviting warmth. With modern amenities including bottled water, ceiling fans, air conditioning, satellite TV, swimming pool, clothes washer, and full septic, La Tortuga is rustic without roughing it. The swimming pool is the nicest we saw on the whole island. With a spacious deck surrounded by jungle vegetation, the pool is long enough for lap swimming and wide enough to ensure you're never too far from the cocktail you place on pool's edge. From time to time you will share the deck with an iguana or two, who have made their own homes on the property. The property manager, Michael, is attentive, accessible, and gregarious. The island motto "Go Slow" reminds you why you came, and that pace of course fits life at The Blue Turtle. Wake-up lazily and, when you feel ready, hop on rented bicycles to embark on the day's activities. It takes only a few ventures out on the bicycle before you master the layout of the island's roads. The occasional ropes laid out as speed bumps on Caulker's sandy streets can always be avoided on bicycle. To say "go slow" is not to say there is nothing to do. Quite the opposite -- just take your time getting there and back to The Turtle... Boasting world class diving and snorkeling, Caulker is surrounded by crystal clear water teeming with marine life. The reef is healthy and home to many beautiful species. Enjoy stunning sunsets daily at The Split with people from all over the world. Make music (or dance to it) with locals and tourists alike at The Sports Bar's weekly Friday afternoon jam session. Mix it up with locals late night at the I & I Reggae Bar (but be careful of the seats -- they are swings!). Get to know the locals. They are wonderful people and will enhance your stay on the island. When your day or night is done, retreat back to La Tortuga Azul on its quiet street off the tourist-beaten path. Enjoy and go slow!

  My family (3 adults and 1 toddler) had a wonderful week here in September. We all had enough space and LOVED the pool since it is right out back and since Caye Caulker doesn't have a traditional beach. There were plenty of towels, sheets and kitchen tools to allow us to cook at the house throughout the week. Because it is near the back of the island, I do suggest renting a golf cart if you have children with you. Between the heat and all, it is definitely the easiest way to get around instead of dealing with a stroller.

  We absolutely loved staying at La Tortuga Azul. It is clean, new and large enough for a family to have their own space. The pool is amazing as is just sitting on the decks listening to birds. The manager of the house kept everything it great order and was a joy to get to know. The house has everything you need and more and is located in a great place just south of town. It's a quick bike ride to any corner of the island. We so enjoyed grilling fresh fish and living like locals. We would love to bring our families back here as it is now a very special place. We highly recommend this house as working with the owners/manager was such a pleasure. This is where we learned to Go Slow. We will be back!

  I stayed at the house right after it became availiable for rent. It is fabulous. Located a block from the airport you can fly in from Belize City and walk over to the house in a matter of minutes. The owner has bikes for renters use and you can bike down to the restaurant-shop area in 5 minutes. It has one of the only pools in Caye Caulker and spent a lot of time inthe pool. The house has air conditioning, TV and WiFi. Can't go wrong. Syd

  We stayed at this fabulous house for 11 nights July into August. What you see in the pictures is what you get lovely furnishings, spacious and the pool is outstanding. The property manager Michael Joseph is very helpful with any needs (though we had only a few, re-starting the WIFI getting a new Bottle of water, suggestions on things to do and a taxi on the very sad day we left). The owners of the house are easy to deal with and they accept Paypal which is great. There are 4 bikes that can be used for $5 a day; you can walk to the main part of town in about 15 to 20 minutes. The island is wonderful probably our favorite so far, there are great places to eat, lobster can be had on the cheap, the scuba diving is very good but the best part are the people that live and work on the island they are super nice.
