Wonderful Family Lodge Overlooking Rushing Creek on 12 Acres!

This much loved and enjoyed family retreat was constructed in 2004 but has the ambiance and charm of an old timey mountain lodge. Rustic wood interior, both indoor and outdoor woodburning stone fireplaces, vintage fixtures, cozy spaces and a two story great room, wonderful kitchen and plenty of room for all the family to gather with 7 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. And the setting is just perfection--surrounded by pristine forest and rhododendrons and overlooking cascading Green Mountain Creek. No other house in sight or even close by yet within the community of Lost Creek, which adjoins Pisgah National Forest. This is truly a nature lover's paradise that's big enough to share with friends and family--offering total privacy and the only noise you will hear is the music of the creek.
While the house will accomodate up to 15 guests, it would also work well for 3 couples to share, with plenty of privacy for each.
Kids of all ages will enjoy getting their feet wet in the stream and exploring the forest--this house is at the end of a private drive so no traffic concerns here. And well behaved dogs are welcomed with prior approval.
Many of the High Country's most famous locales are within 20 minutes of this home, including Grandfather Mountain with its swinging bridge and animal habitat, the quaint villages of Blowing Rock and Linville, and the Blue Ridge Parkway and Price Lake.

The house was was perfect! We had one slight snag with property cleanliness upon arrival but it was promptly taken care of. This was a great house for our extra large group... we had 8 adults and 11 children and everyone was very comfortable. I highly recommend this house to anyone who has multiple families! The location is truly beautiful! Enjoy!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Mary Caroline, Your multi-family group is welcomed back anytime and I agree, Jewelweed is a perfect house for a large group, very kid friendly and that private setting on the rushing stream is very hard to find! Thanks and come back soon!

We held a family reunion in this beautiful home. It truly is in a beautiful setting. It was just as described and very clean. We enjoyed the town of Blowing Rock with all its wonderful shops. The scenery was fabulous. I believe we must have arrived at peak fall colors. It was truly an experience that we will never forget.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Lois, so glad that you had a great time at Jewelweed Lodge--it was built as a family retreat so glad that your family had a wonderful family reunion there. And yes, that setting on the creek with such privacy and natural beauty is hard to find. Come back anytime--fall is lovely but in summer the creek is cool and refreshing!

This was a wonderful location for our stay! We had the grand kids in from another state and we all played in the stream right of the porch! Totally private and quiet. The dogs absolutely loved it! We would recommend this property to anyone with a large group. O would only suggest bringing flood lights to see and enjoy the creek all night long! We went to Lowes and bought a pair of work lights and they were great to light up the creek.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Yes, this home was built for extended family gatherings and is truly a grandkid's dream with the stream right there and lots of room to run around in the woods--pretty good spot for canine family members, too! Like your idea of lighting up the stream for nightime enjoyment. . .

Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing...almost perfect! We absolutely loved how secluded this house is! No neighbors in sight, and being on the creek was blissful! The pictures do not do the beauty of this property justice! The house was very clean, very well maintained. There were only a few minor things: the hammock area needed some landscape attention, the porches could have used some sweeping/cob web cleaning, and there were two loose steps going down to the creek. There is no air conditioning in the house, only an air recirculation system that pulls outdoor air inside to cool the home. This was not an issue during our stay because the temps were in the 70s-80s, but if it were any warmer, it would have been uncomfortable. Also, the linens provided were great, but the towels not so much. We will definitely take our own towels next time, and we will definitely be staying again! The rooms were perfect and the layout of the house is amazing! We loved the large kitchen! The location is perfect, it's not too far from Blowing Rock, or Grandfather Mountain and other attractions. We highly recommend booking this cabin for a vacation to Blowing Rock!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
