Once a quaint little farmhouse, built in 1952, this lovely bungalow was a country home with wood clapboard siding on a property of over 100 acres. It now sits placidly on 5 pastoral acres, secluded and serene. It is within city limits but it feels like the country. The home has an updated Mediterranean look, with stucco, stone, a cupola and arches. Peacefully poised amid tall oak trees, the little house is colorful, comfortable, clean, and cozy!
Convenient to many events and locations in northwest Arkansas: BBB (Bikes, Blues & BBQ), Razorback games, University of Arkansas graduation, golf tournaments, Joe Martin Stage Race, Northwest Arkansas Naturals games, Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, War Eagle Mill Craft Fair, Crystal Bridges, Walton Arts Center concerts and shows, Eureka Springs, Devil's Den State Park, Hobbs State Park, Prairie Grove Battlefield, Lake Fayetteville, Lake Wedington, Beaver Lake, White River, Bob Kidd Lake, Mount Sequoyah, Blessings at Clear Creek Golf Course, Brush Creek Golf Course, Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, Tontitown Historical Museum, Orphan Train Riders Museum, Puppy Creek Golf, Springdale Country Club, Fayetteville Country Club, Arts Center of The Ozarks, Vene's Native American Art Gallery, Arkansas and Missouri Railroad, Jones Center for Families, Shadow Valley Country Club, Arkansas Air Museum, University of Arkansas Discovery Zone, Stonebridge Meadows Golf Course, Paradise Valley Athletic Club, Clinton House Museum, University Museum, Headquarters House, Ozark Adventure Waterpark, Springdale Aquatic Center, Ridge House Museum, Ozark Military Museum, Razorback Park Golf Course, University of Arkansas Fine Arts Center Gallery, Haug House Brewing Company, Tontitown Winery, Old Main, Dickson Street, Fayetteville Farmers Market, Fayetteville Square, Walmart Museum, Rogers Historical Museum, Prairie Creek Country Club, Lost Springs Golf Club, Pinnacle Country Club, Daisy Airgun Museum, War Eagle Cavern, Lake Atalanta, Peel Mansion Museum, Wild Wilderness Drive Thru Safari, and many others!
The interior of the home has been completely modernized with new, green and energy efficient materials and appliances.
There are three bedrooms in the home. All three have queen size beds. There is also a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room, so the home can accommodate up to 8 guests total. There are two full bathrooms and a washer and dryer for your convenience. The great room is divided into a living area, dining area and small corner office space. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dinnerware, utensils, and a small selection of commonly used condiments for your convenience.
The living room has a 42' LCD TV with Dish Network and DVR for your pleasure! Watch the game, record your favorite TV shows, or enjoy one of the many DVD's in the video library. We've provided a Wii system and a couple of games for your kids, or use the Wii Fit to make up for missing your workout! There is a small stereo and some CD's for your use, as well as a small collection of books, if you just want to chill and enjoy the quietude.
Overall size of the home is 1200 square feet (heated/cooled area). The rooms, while small, are comfortable. The term most guests have used to describe it is 'cozy'.
Are you an art lover? We hope you will appreciate the original art that adorns the walls in this little home. While the art is for the enjoyment of our guests, many of the pieces are also for sale (just ask).
If you have allergies, you'll be pleased to know that the home has all wood and tile floors, with few area rugs. Pets are not allowed and there is no smoking allowed in the house or on the property.
The front of the house has a small porch with rocking chairs, so that you can sit outside and appreciate the views. Bordering the backyard is a wooded area, which lends a touch of privacy. There is a stone patio in the backyard, with a canopy/gazebo and patio furniture. A charcoal barbecue grill, with charcoal and lighter fluid, is provided, and we hope to have a portable fire pit soon.
Whether you're visiting short term or long term, you'll find this home 'just right'. Sit on the front porch in the evening and you might see one of the red tail hawks that live on the property. Or, maybe the pair of owls that visit frequently. Coyotes and raccoons, and an occasional armadillo or roadrunner can also be seen as the sun dips down on the horizon.
The owner's home is next door, in case you should need anything to make your stay more enjoyable. Please note that our vacation rental is not suited for parties or large gatherings, due to the proximity to our own home. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, this is it. If you are looking for a gathering place for a group of more than 8 people, I'm sorry, but we cannot accommodate your group.
In addition to the one-car garage with garage door opener (which has a handy entry keypad), there is a parking area in front of the house, just beyond the trees. If you're concerned about privacy, there is rarely traffic on the dead end road (which is a private drive). In addition, the main house has a driveway sensor, so the owner is aware when vehicles arrive and depart.
All items in the bungalow are inventoried. When you make your reservation, you will be sent a contract, house rules, and a partial list of items/amenities provided for your use (so that you don't have to bring the kitchen sink with you!).
The maximum allowable number of guests is 8. There are 3 regular queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa. We also provide two rollaway beds, in the event one or two of the guests prefer not to share a bed. (These are great for children.) Groups exceeding 8 guests are allowed with written permission, but there is a $2000 event fee.

Excellent house, the owner obviously take pride in this property given the furnishings, amenities and cleanliness. The setting is great, nice and quiet with plenty of privacy, but still close to area attractions. We look forward to staying again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I was initially interested in having my family stay at the Barnett Bunalow due to pictures of it we saw in the property listing. The house looks exactly like those pictures. The property is VERY attractive, well-maintained, and exceptionally clean! The amenities exceed what one would typically expect; it's almost as if the owners had anticipated every need renters might have and provided for it. Any question we had prior to or during our stay was answered immediately by the owners. The beds are very comfortable. Since the property is on some acreage, it is more private and there is a great deal of room for outdoor activities, which my family enjoyed. Staying at the bungalow felt like your best friends had let you stay in their house. We quickly felt "at home" there. I highly recommend this property to others and would happily stay there again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: It's always a pleasure to have such wonderful guests, Mona. We appreciate your review and hope you'll visit again!

We will definitely be staying here again in the future!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a great time during our stay at the Bungalow! Everything was exactly as advertised and exactly as shown in the pictures! There were 7 of us (5 adults and 2 under 2-year olds) and we never felt cramped! The owner met us upon arrival and greeted us warmly! We don't have any negative comments to relay as our stay was everything we expected it to be!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Many thanks, Patrick! I was certainly a pleasure meeting you! Your group picked one of the best times of year to visit northwest Arkansas. There's still color on some of the trees and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

Our stay at the Bungalow was everything we hoped for which included great location, easy access to all points, plus the setting has the feel of a remote location. It was clean, well maintained and had all the comforts of home. When we return to visit our son and his wife who live in Fayetteville we would not hesitate to rent here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Ron, it was a pleasure meeting you, and we're delighted that you found our bungalow comfortable! Thank you for the suggestion, too!

I fell for the exterior looks of this bungalow on the website, and the pictures of the inside were equally appealing. I was pleasantly surprised that it was just as charming as portrayed! My husband and I met his brother and sister-in-law there for 4 nights. The primary impetus of the trip was to see the Crystal Bridges Museum, which was wonderful. The Barnett Bungalow provided us with a cozy, comfortable base for our get together. It is a fine, well constructed/remodeled house in a pastoral location with no noise or light pollution. Everything looks brand new, and the place was immaculate. There were beautiful wooden floors in the living areas with tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. The decor was pleasing and the furnishings were comfortable. The amenities were spot on. We did not cook meals, but cookware and utensils appeared to be adequate. There were even new spices. The bathroom my husband and I used had a piece of furniture (china cabinet of sorts) with a display of wonderful art deco pottery. It had small drawers and enclosed shelves in the bottom that were perfect for storing toiletries. There were double sinks and plenty of counter space. The beds were comfortable. The closet was large, well lit, and had a luggage rack in it as well as hangers. The sliding doors were of good quality and opened and closed easily and quietly. The front porch was lovely with ferns in hanging baskets, roses, impatiens, and rocking chairs. I would like to have stayed longer!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay! We do try to go the "extra mile" to ensure that the bungalow is in tip-top shape for our guests. Hope you'll come visit again soon!

Highly recommend this rental.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The owner of the Bungalow was great to work with. She was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The bungalow was very nice and welcoming. We picked it because of it's location and were very pleased with location and all the overall 9 days of fun we had there. The outdoor spaces are great. There were three couples of us and all enjoyed our stay and would stay there again and highly recommend to anyone who is staying in that area. If you are looking for a nice, quiet home that is close to just about anything you would want to do this is the place to stay. Thank you to the owners for a great Fayetteville vacation,Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks, Dee! We loved having you guys! It's not every day we get a chance to see some gorgeous bikes parked outside! Wow! Hope to host you again sometime!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: Art and Leslie have been married for 27 years and have lived in Northwest Arkansas for almost 30 years. Art owns an air charter business and Leslie owns a professional pet sitting company. Art loves the outdoors and Leslie is an artist and art lover. They have three children, two adult and one teen. They both enjoy traveling and staying in vacation rentals. Their home is conveniently situated next door their vacation rental, and they are happy to provide any small necessities that you may have forgotten to take with you.
Why the Owner Chose Fayetteville:
Barnett Bungalow is located next door to the owners' home, but turning the little farmhouse on the property was not their original intent. In fact, they originally updated the home in order to accommodate family guests. But, friends love the location, and suggested that the home would make an excellent vacation rental. It is private, yet easily accessible, while very convenient to attractions and activities.
The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow:
The beauty of this location is that it is very near I-540, within city limits, and yet secluded. The property is nestled between an exclusive neighborhood of 2-acre properties and about 50 acres occupied by two large mansions.
One only has to travel 15-30 minutes to access innumerable attractions and activities in Northwest Arkansas. So, if you were hoping for a quiet little getaway, but you don't want to miss out on the fun, here you have the best of BOTH worlds!
You can see some amazing sunsets while taking a walk down the drive in the evening. Or, sit on the front porch and watch the sunrise. (July 4th celebrations are spectacular here! The home is on a hill, so you can see the country club fireworks!)
The pasture to the south of the bungalow is often visited by deer, and there is a hawk and a pair of owls that live on the property. Occasionally, you may hear and see the coyotes that sometimes travel through, or the occasional raccoon or road runner!
If you come in the late summer, the crape myrtle trees will be blooming, and in the early fall, the apple tree may be in fruit.
The neighbors to the north have horses, which makes for an idyllic view. There are three small breed dogs next door, they may run out to greet you as you come up the drive.
