We (2 couples) rented this condo for 3 weeks and were very happy with our choice. We were central to beaches, shops and restaraunts, and the condo had everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable stay. The views are great but the suite is far enough off South Kihei road that noise is not an issue. Everything was clean and in good shape, no surprises. We would rent this unit again,Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our family completely enjoyed staying here! Plenty of room for a group of four or five. The unit is wonderfully kept! The beds are great, the living room trundle bed was my favorite! Ample bathrooms and showers and thick towels. Kitchen is roomy and very well stocked. Fridge is great! The microwave does make an unusual sound, but heated everything just fine. Corner unit is quiet and gets some great island air flow. The best part of staying here is the cozy balcony with mountain and beach park/ocean views. We had some memorable times, morning and night, people watching, bird watching, cloud and mountain gazing and even whale watching! Thank you Norma. I look forward to making this Penthouse Corner Unit in Kihei, part of our regular visits to Maui. Aloha!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

If you are looking for an affordable, clean, comfortable stay in Kihei, this is a great, functional condo. The pictures posted are exactly what you'll find. We had our breakfasts and lunches on the lanai with great whale-watching views. The unit has a great layout for two couples—two bedrooms each with a king-sized bed, two bathrooms, and plenty of room. The beds are excellent, which was so appreciated after a full day touring Maui. Norma has equipped the unit with everything you'll need, including kitchen supplies and beach chairs. It was great to have the beach chairs and umbrella to take along to our beach visits. The end unit is quiet—excluding the birds and the roosters! But that's the norm in Maui. The location is handy: across the street from the beach, close to Foodland (grocery store), and close to coffee cafes. Although we drove to most restaurants and explored other beaches, you could manage here without a car. If you have a car, there are plenty of parking stalls: we always found a spot. If you're wanting to eat fish tacos, skip Maui Taco and make sure you go to Coconut's Fish Cafe just down the road. The best fish tacos ever! We went there more than once. There is also Joy's Place on the main floor of the condo building. It has a small menu but healthy food options (wraps and sandwiches). We were happy with our picnic lunch from Joy's when we were touring Maui for the day. There are many places to rent surf and paddle boards. We rented and took lessons from Surf Shack Maui on the main floor of the condo building. They were helpful and very patient during surf lessons. And last but not least, Norma was helpful and available by phone when we needed to ask questions. Thanks, Norma. You made our first VRBO experience a pleasant one. Mahalo!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+.

We rented this unit for two friends who were joining us for a holiday as we were staying in the same building. They each had their own bedroom and bathroom and the unit provided everything they needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the unit is very clean, organized and well maintained. The view is beautiful and location is convenient as you can walk to the beaches, shops, restaurants and Foodland. The owner, Norma, is very helpful and does all she can to ensure her guests have a wonderful stay.Recommended for: People with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is the first time I had booked a VRBO, and I was a little nervous to do so. However my doubts were soon put to rest, This unit could not have been any better. The decor was beautiful, the unit was well stocked, and the view was incredible! There were six of us staying here, and at no time did we feel cramped. The location was ideal for us. We had a rental car, but barely used it. Grocery shopping and markets were less than a five minute walk away. Lots of great places to eat nearby, we went to Threes for their happy hour appy special, and it was fabulous. My family took surf, and paddle board lessons from Maui Wave Riders (located across the street from our condo). Their prices were great and staff professional. Charley Young Beach was about a block away, and connects to the Kamaole Beaches 1,2 and 3. We walked to these daily, awesome snorkeling at all beaches. Would I recommend this property? Absolutely! We usually travel to Mexico and stay at All Inclusives but after staying here and visiting Maui those days are gone! Thank you Norma for providing us with a memorable holiday.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My family consisting of five adults stayed in Normas condo in November of 2012. It was everything she said it was. It was clean, beds were comfortable and the view was awesome. Within walking distance of some shops, grocery store and restaurants as well as the beach. The condo contained everything we could need and more. I would not hesitate to stay again and would recommend to others.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family (all adults) just spent two weeks in this condo. This was our first time in Maui and found the location very convenient and close to all amenities. The condo was spacious, well equipped and very clean. The condo owner Norma was honest, personable and delivered everything as promised. We spent a lot of quality time on the lanai enjoying the view. Although we were on vacation and getting away from it all, it was great to have the quaity tv's in the bedrooms and living area as well as the internet access. Parking was convenient and we had shopping and restaurants well within walking distance. The condo is also within a half hour of the northern resort areas of Kaanapali where we made a few day trips and stopped in Lahaina on the way. There is a good beach across the street in front of the condo and a spectacular beach just two blocks up (Charley Beach I believe). I would highly recommend this condo to friends and family and would certainly rent it again on a future trip to Maui.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Best condo we've stayed in. We booked here for next year before leaving Kihei. Owner lives part time in condo and this makes it very homey with all conveniences found in homes rather than "rental only" units. Everything top quality, both in appliances and furniture. Beds very comfy. If a problem with anything Norma gets it looked after immediately. She has compiled a book with everything you need to know for a great vacation. We found having a safe in our condo was a real bonus. Keyless lock option convenient. Beautiful view from lanai for watching whales, surfers and sunsets. Unit was clean as was building. A car is nice for trips around the Island sightseeing but not needed for daily living. Everything needed can be reached by walking, from groceries to Drs. offices. Lots of good places to eat right in same block. Bus service is well run and very reasonable - takes you from one end of Island to the other. Beaches are great and close by. Felt safe both in and out of Condo. Park across the street good for walking day or night as it is well lit. Something there for every age to do. This is a corner unit so there is no walk by traffic. Loved it there and would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: I am a retired travel agent and have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and the Orient. I have stayed in many elegant hotels, condos and cruise ships. I have been a visitor to Maui since 1984. Maui is where my heart is and I consider it my second home. I have decorated and furnished my condo as I have furnished my primary residence because I want to be surrounded by tropical elegance and comfort. I hope you will feel the same as you share my home.
Why the Owner Chose Island Surf:
First and foremost, this condo is my second home! I love the ambiance in South Kihei and the Island Surf Building is the 'Golden Ring' of the area! I looked at many properties in the South Kihei area and ALWAYS went back to this building. I knew what I wanted, I waited and I finally was able to purchase the PRIME condo in this wonderful building - the penthouse floor, end unit condo with windows on three sides and unsurpassed views!
The building has a private pool and barbeques with dining area. There is plenty of off street free parking and even a place to hose off or completely wash your car. The building also has 2 elevators, or, if you are energetic, you can climb the stairs!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
I love drinking my tea or coffee in the morning out on the lanai and watching the sun rise over Haleakala. I love sitting and watching the WHALES frolicking in the beautiful surf during the daytime. I love sipping a cocktail and watching the sun set over the ocean in the early evening. I love sitting in the darkness and looking up at the starlit sky while listening to the ocean's gentle roar as the waves lap against the shore! I love my condo and my location 24/7 and 365 days a year!
Shopping is easy and convenient, just a short walk away. Shave Ice is right out the front door and to the right about 50 steps! My hairdresser and massage therapist are on the first floor of my building. Charley Young beach is across the street, within walking distance. You can rent diving gear or snorkeling equipment from the shops on the first floor. There are also two surf schools where you can take lessons or just rent boards, one on the first floor and one right across the street.
In Kalama Park, directly across the street you will find tennis courts, a skate park, volleyball nets, barbeques, picnic tables, a ball field and many other things to do.
