We needed a getaway for our annual sisters get together. We were pleasantly surprised by the property - it had everything you needed for a relaxed time and it was very, very clean - all we had to do was scoot over to get some food from the nearby town. We spent wonderful times sitting on the deck (beautiful by the way) talking, laughing, watching boats go by and simply enjoying the atmosphere. At night we sat around the table and laughed and played cards. It was a wonderful experience and we're very glad we took the chance to stay here. The cabin is very comfortable and we felt at home right away. We didn't take advantage of any other recreational activities but that was our choice - we are more of a sit around type of group. When it was time to leave we were reluctant to do so - we felt we had been at home for 4 days, but in a new location! . The property owner was very easy to work with and more than willing to answer all of our incessant questions. All in all it was a wonderful experience....... We have already talked about coming back next year!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: So glad your stay was what you were looking for. We are looking forward to your families return!

We loved this place! Even the 16 year old and the 7 year old weren't bored here. We went on the canoe upstream on one of the days, first canoe ride for the little one. The wife loved the color layout and the fixtures inside of the cabin. We sat around, made a fire, played games and really connected as a family. We laughed and had so much fun here. It was a perfect place to go. I'm glad we made the trip and will probably do it again next year :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We hope to host your family again, very soon!

The small house is well equipped and very welcoming. The porch and fire pit were beautiful. We caught tons of catfish off their dock and even had a great time canoeing. We would love to stay at this little house more often if only we were closer. Peaceful, fun and perfect for a small family vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our experience at this cabin was excellent. We've stayed in many cabins and never have we experienced such quality items for our use as part of the rental -- from the comfortable memory foam mattress to the Wolfgang Puck knives to the Rachael Ray cookware -- we felt very pampered. The owners were extremely helpful prior to our arrival and during our stay. If you are looking for a remote, quiet, comfortable cabin, this place fits the bill.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much Martha and Joe! We so enjoyed having such great guests!!

The Little Brown Church in the Vale View on map
Famous The first settlers came to the Bradford area in 1848 and with an abundant water supply and virgin timber, the town grew. By 1856, Bradford had 500 residents and was the first town in this part of Iowa. A young music teacher named William Pitts was traveling by stagecoach from Wisconsin to Iowa to visit his future wife. While waiting for the stagecoach horses to be changed, he walked down Cedar Street and saw the empty lot where the church now stands. Being a romantic young man, the thought came to him of what a charming setting the spot would make for a church. Returning home, he wrote the poem “Church in the Wildwood".
