Excellent Salida stay
Excellent Salida stay
Our family of 10 adults and 2 children had an absolutely fabulous stay at Beddin Down. The house was better than we had hoped nestled in a lovely green valley surrounded my magnificent mountain views. The large dining table supported by a well equipped kitchen made each dining experience special as we rotated responsibilities for meal preparation. The shaded patio area was a favorite gathering place in sight of the always entertaining group of horses. The two ranch dogs were good welcoming ambassadors but not intrusive. Dan and Shirley were most accommodating of our needs. A great location and a wonderful house contributed to our best vacation ever..... Each day we could see Mt Shavano from the house and it drew us to its trail-head. Four of our group made it to the top and realized just how high 14,230 feet really is! Close to town and shopping as well as proximal to hiking fishing rafting and just relaxing in the cool clear air it is truly a great vacation spot!

We initially chose this property because it was large enough to accommodate our family summer reunion which includes our three children and their families, but upon entering the property, we knew we had found a jewel. The house was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The surroundings were beautiful and was such a wonderful place to go for a hike, go fishing in the Arkansas River, or just relax. There was plenty of room for the kids to go out and play, and they loved the animals. The town of Salida is close by and has two very nice parks for the kids in the downtown area as well as good shopping and restaurants. The owners are wonderful people and were such gracious hosts. It was definitely a good place for all of us to gather, and we all agreed we would like to return. The only disappointment was that the hot tub was out of order during our stay, and there was no washer and dryer available for us.

Peace and Quiet Personified
Peace and Quiet Personified
We came here to escape the hustle and bustle of San Diego, and we were not disappointed. The mountains in the background and the stillness of nature allowed us to shed the stresses of work and the everyday demands that wear us down. This is a place where you can shed the distractions of life and really lock in to your core, your center; the really important parts of who you are and what you are doing in life. My wife and I needed to focus on each other and really spend some quality time together again. Between rafting on the river, riding horses, milking cows and hearing the roosters crow, we calmed our spirits down long enough to listen to each other and to that still, small voice that calls to us all. This place has a peace about it that will allow you to reboot your lives. But, it isn't just the place, the owners are wonderful too. If you engage the husband, he'll tell you stories until dusk. He is like your dad or your grandpa, he will tell you stories to engage you and put you at ease, so you can feel at home. If you are hurting and worn down, talk to the wife. She will nurture your soul and guide you back to you center. She has remedies for body, soul and spirit. All in all, this is a wonderful place; a place of joy, of healing, of laughter. It is what you need when you just need to "escape it all for a while" or when you need to "discover yourself again."

Peaceful and Quiet

We were so delighted to find this treasure. The entire home is exquisitely decorated, with each room sporting an individually unique theme. We spent much of our time enjoying the mountain views from the deck and hot tub. The lodge easily and comfortably accommodates 18 people. The bunkhouse in the lower level was a great place for all 8 of cousins. We will be booking another reunion in the future.

Best week ever!
We can't thank you enough for making our retreat special in every way. The grounds, flowers and view from the deck offer quiet solitude to the weary. Your rooms are beautifully decorated with attention to every detail. Thanks for the well stocked kitchen. Taking time out to pet the horses was great. We will return again. It is our choice for the perfect stay in Beautiful Salida. Than you!
