When we arrived at the cabin, I immediately noticed that the pictures online did not do the cabin justice. It was much more stunning in person. As precious reviewers have stated, it is definitely a secluded place. The directions and arrival information were right on target and the information notebook at the cabin had any other details we would ever need. The views from the cabin were breathtaking. I must mention that when driving to and from the cabin, be very cautious. there were literally 20-30 deer in a seven mile stretch and they show no signs of fear when it comes to approaching the car. The day we left, we woke up to a heavy snowfall which made driving down the mountain both beautiful and dangerous. We had a minor accident, but nobody was hurt and when Pat heard about it she called me right away and offered to come all the way from Colorado Springs to help. They are wonderful people with a spectacular home that they seem to love to share. Thanks again Pat for everything. The stay was far better than I could have ever imagined!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We appreciate the seclusion as well and it is a great, quiet place to relax. The deer population is very healthy so please do be careful. We want all our guests to have a great & safe experience.

I'll just list the facts (in no particular order): 1. The finishes and personal touches are absolutely great. 2. Pet friendly, which is very rare, especially for a place this nice. 3. Great little entertainment center w/ surround sound and a generous collection of DVDs (adults and kids) 4. It is outside of town by 20 minutes or so, but that is why we liked it. 5. The wifi takes care of all your communication needs w/ the cell service lacking. 6. Whole house speaker system for music when you are relaxing (bring CDs or choose from their selection). 7. Great hiking and adventuring ON the property. 8. The county road was VERY WELL maintained. It had snowed during our visit, and as soon as the roads were dry, there was a grader already smoothing out and manicuring the road (on a Saturday.). 9. FUN - The place is just fun. The boys loved all the neat cowboy things. My wife and I appreciated all the high end finishes and craftsmanship. 10. Friendly - Pat made sure we had everything we need, from info to check in to what to do while we were there. Great host! 11. Canon City - We had a great time doing the Royal Gorge Bridge Park, the Royal Gorge Route railroad, skyline road, and trekking around the town. Great for a 4 day getaway from Denver or destination vacation, in my opinion.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This home is awesome! It was very clean and beautifully decorated. The pictures don't do it justice. We had a wonderful and relaxing time. The owners were great, very helpful. We would definitely recommend this wonderful home to others. Hopefully we will be able to revisit someday.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I do agree that the pictures don't do our home justice. Many of them appear darker than the spaces are in reality. I appreciate that comment and we are so very happy that you enjoyed our home.

Can you say Oh My God? This cabin was awesome. The owners were most accommodating. The home was very clean as well as the property. Our stay was very pleasant. The Millers did not forget anything. The detail to decorating is exquisite. We were so comfortable, felt right at home. If I am ever Blessed enough to have a "happy place" I will be calling for decorating tips. Thank you soooo much for sharing your home with us. Hope to visit again. Brian, Tammy, Graci, & LexiRecommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I always enjoy the reviews on the unique decorating. I like to use very unconventional products in very different ways than you might imagine. My husband and I both think "outside the box" and this home is the ultimate example. Thanks so much.

This was our first geodesic dome home experience and what an experience it was. The home is amazing with all the thoughtful placement of each element of artful intricate detail. The owners were so thoughtful and very accomodating; from making our reservation to making sure we arrived safely. They really made us feel welcome in their home with all it's amenities. We highly recommend this rental for those who want a new experience in a non-conventional home. It was GREAT!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Many people have never experienced a geodesic dome. It is hard to picture, you really must see it and live it. We are so glad you enjoyed the uniqueness of our special home.

My family and I have traveled all over staying at resorts, renting property, bed & breakfasts and while they were all nice I have to honestly say I was not relaxed. This vacation from the moment I got out of the car was relaxing, the pictures of this property really do not begin to show the beauty. Pat and Norm did a wonderful job providing information on things to do,how to run everything in thier home as well as making sure if you forgot anything you were covered. We will definatley be making this trip again, which says alot because I never go to the same place twice. Thank you & your wonderful neighbors who saved our evening on the Murder Mystery Train.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We know we have awesome neighbors who are willing to help anyone who needs it, even visitors. We would love for you to stay with us again.

We would highly recommend a visit to this home! You will not be disappointed. Pat and Norm have not missed a single detail. This was our first experience with VRBO and Pat held our hand along the way answering our many questions with great detail. She stayed in contact throughout the time of our booking until our visit. We were very impressed with the great attention to detail from an administrative aspect. As for the cabin - the pictures do not lie nor do the tell the whole story. It is stunning. You honestly have to visit it yourself to see the amount of time, energy and love they have poured into this home. They haven't missed a single detail. The home is very clean and you feel completely welcomed and 'at home' the minute you walk in. It is fully stocked of most anything you could have forgotten which is very comforting when traveling, especially with children. A bonus for our family is that we spotted 3 bears throughout the week on our drives to and from the house! To Pat and Norm - thank you for sharing your home with us! We hope to visit again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your strong recommendation of our home. We love that your family not only enjoyed but appreciated it. The bear spotting was a unique experience since we have only seen a few ourselves over the past 11 years. Although we know they are out there and need to be aware of that. Please do visit us again!

From the moment we arrived to the last minute of our stay - the house and Pat and Norm were simply wonderful! We arrived to be greeted by Pat and Norm who gave us a tour of their beautiful house. They thought of everything!!! There was a fresh pitcher of sun tea in the fridge, every condiment you could imagine, and all sorts of items available in case we forgot some of our toiletries. The detail in everything thing in the house is superb. It is evident that Pat and Norm lovingly built this house from the ground up. The furniture was super comfy with lots of gathering places for the girls to chill by themselves without the adults. They even have a brand new sleeping loft above the garage, fully carpeted, very roomy with little cubbies to put all of your necessities. The girls particularly loved having their own "house" during our stay. Being teenagers they also enjoyed climbing up the mountain at the back of the property. You could sit on one of the decks with a cup of coffee and enjoy the company of bluebirds and hummingbirds. A momma deer and her baby even came along several days to say good morning to us. Coming from a very flat state - Illinois - it was a little intimidating the first drive up to the house, but the winding roads are very well maintained and the scenery along the way is spectacular. The house was situated nicely to accommodate our sight seeing to the Royal Gorge, Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Buena Vista, Salida and even the Great Sand Dunes National Park (this one is a 3 hour drive but worth the trip). One thing about Colorado though - make sure your gas tank is full on your trips - gas stations and towns might be spaced out a bit on your journey. Beautiful house, wonderful scenery, fantastic hosts - you can't go wrong choosing this house. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are thrilled that our guests are really enjoying the experience of our home. We aim to make everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. Your group was so fun to host and all the girls were so very nice in their comments written in our guest book at the home. Thanks again for your wonderful review!

If you want a get away, that has peace and quite, this is the place. The cabin was awesome, so clean, well furnished, the owners have thought of everything. If you forgot it, forget it, you will find it in the cabin. We did the activities that were offered in the nearby cities, but what a treat it was to be able to retreat back up into the mountain to this cabin. We did a lot of hiking on the property. Our first night there the mule deer came right up to the deck. I would recommend this property, but just keep in mind, you have about a thirty minute drive from the closes town which is Canon City. It is so worth the drive!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We love to hear the comments on the furnishings & cleanliness. We strive to be the most unique, exclusive & friendliest rental in the area and will continue to provide that experience to all our guests.

The attention to detail on your home is absolutely incredible. It was a great experience and we felt at home here, thank you for sharing it with us. One morning we actually awoke to 3 deer on the outside porch which was a real treat. We would recommend this home to anyone wanting to get away from it all and relax for a bit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We love that you felt at home here. Our goal is to provide that feeling to all our guests by furnishing our property as a "lived in" home instead of the many vacation homes that are stark & devoid of personal character.

Priced very reasonably and an unforgettable experience. Motels are so generic, especially the ones in this area. So if you want to stay someplace that will make your trip to Canon City a truly unique experience, the remote mountain home is perfect. The only drawback that I think is important is that it is several miles away from Canon City. It takes about 30 minutes to get into town. About a third of that is gravel road. So if you have lots of trips in and out of town every day, and you're driving a Ferrari, this probably isn't the place for you. The gravel road is a very good road as gravel roads go. The most difficult part is actually getting up the driveway to the house. For us, it was a great place to stay and we wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else if we find ourselves heading back that direction.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I loved your comment on the "truly unique experience". That is exactly what we were going for as we built it, so it's good to know we hit the mark. We are a bit out of town but again that is what we were looking for so if is what you are looking for we are a great choice. P.s. I wouldn't drive a Ferrari on a gravel road either. Thanks for your review and we do hope you visit us again.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Mountain Dome. It's set up really nice as to be able to take advantage of every view of the Colorado forest. Large windows and patio doors, outside seating. We saw mule deer, chipmunks, a coyote, and hummingbirds. The boys hiked the property and got some nice photos. The cowboy bathtub is very relaxing on the bottom level, there is a large shower on the 2nd level and a half bath on the 3rd level. The loft on the 3rd level was very nice. The 2nd level has a kitchen with full fridge and oven, living area and deck. Beautiful rustic mountain themed home. All things were in great condition, new and the innkeeper hasn't missed a thing. Lotsa extras if you forgot anything. Great place to bring food and cook out. All we can say is awesome. It is secluded, so plan ahead, but it's so beautiful and private. Our daughter said it would be a great place for a honeymoon. We had college age kids with us, who absolutely loved it !!! Can't say enough nice things, innkeepers were great, their numbers were left out in case you needed anything. They also had some water and juice , ice and a pantry with seasonings and spices. Very relaxing place to unwind and enjoy the family. Staircases were done in the rustic pine ( I think) very sturdy and had rails. Comfy beds, lotsa linens, soft towels, toiletries in case you forgot, very clean, very well maintained. Extra nice modern furnishings, fantastic Colorado feel. Kids loved the train on the bottom floor. ;-) We went to Royal Gorge, took a drive over to Cripple Creek, stopped at the AR river, watched some rafters. Took photos. What a treasure, Thx so much Pat and Norm for sharing your treasure with us. Many Blessings,Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Let me just say that the photos of this magnificent cabin do NOT do it justice! My family of 5 walked into this place after a very long drive in the dark and were immediately invigorated by the amazing design & decorating inside. The attention to detail is second to none! We felt so welcome here! It is truly a home away from home. The beds were super comfortable and the linens superb. The double - headed luxurious tiled shower was unique as well. We spent lots of time on the amazing deck enjoying the extreme peace & quiet. Just know that this place is way out in the boonies so stock up on groceries & paper products ( there isn' t a dishwasher) before arriving. We definitely would HIGHLY recommend staying here. The price is very reasonable considering the distinguished accommodations. We even added a night to our stay because we didn' t want to leave! Pat & Norm are extremely helpful & easy to work with.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words and for booking your stay with us. We are so pleased that our labor of love has been so appreciated and that you felt so welcome and at home. That is exactly how we want all our guests to feel. We want any future guests to know that we will improve our efforts to provide paper plates, cups and all paper products in the future for your convenience. Pat & Norm
