  We stayed at 3 Down Wind for most of the month of March and can echo all the positive comments noted in the following reviews. The owners were always available to answer questions both before and after our arrival and were clearly committed to assuring that we were fully satisfied with our experience. The home and property are meticulously maintained with the highest quality of fixtures, linens, appliances, dishes, etc. We truly felt like we were staying as pampered guests in a friend's home and not in a "rental". The setting is unforgettable - a private pond-side oasis under towering live oaks and pines with turtles, fish, squirrels, deer and a great diversity of birds.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

  This house could not be more perfect. We had everything we needed for a wonderful family vacation, including a large Thanksgiving dinner. The location was quiet and perfect, but close enough to ride our bikes to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Our kids loved being right on the lake for fishing and having access to the pool and spa. Bill was always available for anything we needed, and provided a family friendly house for our stay. We would definitely recommend this house to our friends and definitely stay here again.

  We had a great visit at 3 Downwind. The furniture and decor were beautiful as we entered this spacious home. The bedrooms were large and linens top-quality. The home was spotless and well maintained. Our group gathered to prepare several meals in the huge kitchen. The photos and narrative description provided were spot-on. Even though the weather was a bit chilly, we enjoyed time by the pool and the dock overlooking the lake. The walk to the beach was enjoyable and easy . The homes in Palmetto Dunes and golf course were as breathtaking as the sand and surf. We enjoyed meals at great restaurants, shopping and even rented bikes. We have already recommended this home to friends interested in visiting HHI. The owners were very friendly and easy to work with as we arranged our visit. We hope to return to Hilton Head soon and have definately found a great place to stay!

  Had a wonderful experience at 3 Downwind. Lovely home set on a lovely property. My family thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The house offered us so much to do that we never wanted to leave! Great fishing in the lake with lots of turtles. Love Palmetto Dunes! Great community with the beach just 10 minutes away by foot. Love the General Store! We will go back!!!!

  My family has vacationed on Hilton Head Island many times in the past 20 years, renting various properties. 3 Downwind has no comparison! The beauty of the location on the lake was spectacular! The walk to the beach access was about 12 minutes, but Dune Buggy service made it easy. The listing photos do not do this property justice. It is much more beautiful than the pictures depict. The furnishings, linens, appliances, etc. were all top quality. We used the gas grill almost daily, although the kitchen was supplied with plenty of cooking utensils. There was such an abundance of dishes, glassware and eating utensils that you could easily feed 24 people all at once. All the beds were very comfortable. The house, pool, and grounds were all immaculately kept. The owner was very helpful in answering promptly any questions or concerns that we had before and during our stay. Giuseppi's Pizza in nearby Shelter Cove was one of our favorites. We dined at the upscale restaurant called Alexander's right in Palmetto Dunes, and had a delicious meal in very attractive surroundings. We enjoyed water activities in Shelter Cove as well as Harbour Towne. We shopped at numerous boutiques throughout the island as well as the nearby, off-island, Tanger Outlets. This was one of our nicest and most memorable family vacations ever. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and relaxing setting setting of this lovely property.

  Everything thaqt we read and viewed was met as soon as we arrived. We were amazed by the space and how comfortable this home felt to us. The lagoon and pool were so nice and made our vacation even more enjoyable. We were able to call the Palmetto Buggy to get a lift to the Beach access which made it very convenient. I defintely recommend this house as an enjoyable place to relax and enjoy Hilton Head. We hope to be able to rent this house again next year.

  Hilton Head is the best! We had a great time and loved 3 Downwind. It was very spacious and was perfect for the 9 people we had staying in the home (4 adults and 5 children aged 8 to 15). Had a great time fishing on the lagoon. Kids loved the pool (although it was a little cold for the adults this early in the season - especially floridians). The kitchen is very spacious. A 45 minute bike ride on the Palmetto Dunes trails and a 3 minute bike ride to the closest beach access was a perfect way to start each day. Would definately rent again!!!
