Great place! You won't regret staying here!

Our family spent a week at this property and had a wonderful time. The owner was extremely accommodating and very helpful. We were the second or third occupants since the remodel and we were very very impressed with how clean the house was. We arrived late on a sunday night and were welcomed to a relaxing view of "Mud Bay" through a beautiful set of windows. The area is very quiet, no traffic, and we hardly saw another person in the surrounding area for almost a week. The kitchen was great, with the range being the only exception (the oven temperature was unreliable and the back left stove burner did not work. However this is a minor issue that didn't ruin our stay). The deck is the place to hang out...don't miss the bald eagle that visits a perch near the water!! The hot tub was fabulous, the master bedroom (with view) was great, the small beach below the house was neat. Our whole experience was more than we expected. Thank you again for a great stay.

Super clean home with a great view

The house was very comfortable and just as clean as it appears in the photos. I would describe the home as fairly secluded with a beautiful view of a bay. We spent most of our time bicycling or kayaking and enjoyed coming home to cook dinner, soak in the hot tub, and enjoy a movie at the end of the day. Lopez Island was a great choice for our family. My children voted this our best vacation ever. As a family with elementary and middle school-aged children, we were looking for relatively easy cycling. Lopez was great in that respect. However, given the location of the home, we often opted to drive our bikes to one park and then cycle to another park and back. This allowed us to reduce the mileage, avoid the island's main road, and skip the tough hill coming back to the house. I'll reiterate that we are very casual cyclists with relatively young children. The owner was very easy to work with. He gladly answered questions about the property and its location. It was definitely a good rental experience.

A Rustic Escape

Guest: Tay (Indianola, Wa)
Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 05/05/11

My wife, son and future daughter in law were referred to this wonderful property by some friends and booked a week in September. We took our bikes, binoculars and hiking gear for our encounter with Lopez Island....and what a wonderful island it is; long and quiet country roads along rolling hills, small orchard farms, woods and craggy coastline. Tons of inlets, beaches and beach hiking trails to enjoy. We also found a spectacular local winery and tasting room with an eclectic selection of local varietals (reds. whites and roses). In addition we experienced the local farmers market and tons of produce, fruits, cheeses and crafts. The main village offered a book store, chocolate shop, Deli, Wine shop, Health Food store and a couple of art galleries in addition to grocery shopping. The property is well appointed with all the appropriate cooking utensils, linens, music system and barbecue. The large deck offers spectacular views of Puget Sound. We even set up a Bocce ball court on their front lawn. Every morning we either explored by bicycle or found a beach trail, a favorite being Spencer Spit. You can directly access the beach from their medium bank location as well. It was a perfect week to unwind and embrace nature at her best. We hope to return next year for another 'rustic escape'

Excellent Experience

Guest: Victor (Columbia, SC)
Date of Stay: 01/19/07 Review Submitted: 05/03/11

We stayed here during the off-season, and was delighted by the comfort of the accommodations and the tranquility of the location. It was peaceful and serene. We especially enjoyed firing up the wood stove and relaxing in the afternoons. It was a quick drive into "town" for meals out, but with the kitchen we were able to make a number of meals for ourselves. The house itself is great. Very comfortable and welcoming, with great views from the large windows. Bedrooms were spacious and comfy as well. I would absolutely recommend this location (and have) to others. There is plenty of room for larger groups, though we stayed on the main floor.

Great house, great island, great people!

Guest: The Engineer (Port Orchard, WA)

An amazing and peaceful place. Be prepared for an entire island of friendly people who wave at each other when driving by. We saw hawks flying by as we sat in the hot tub. We also found several parks to explore nearby with historic buildings, hiking trails and beaches. The house is spacious and well kept. Nice views out the window of the bay. The beach access from the backyard was great for after dinner walks. This was a great way to get away from the stress of work and enjoy life. I plan on going back someday.
