Birch Bay condo description

Welcome to our home in Birch Bay! Newly renovated and tastefully decorated, it features a modern kitchen, with new appliances and a well stocked pantry. Step from the living room to the front patio and enjoy the green area, the expansive view of Birch Bay and the Gulf Islands. Enjoy indoor/outdoor living at its best from morning to night. Start with morning coffee, the paper or breakfast. The adjacent lawn/garden area is a perfect spot for children to play, during the day, under the watchful eyes of parents and grandparents. And if your choice is an afternoon swim or stroll on the beach, you are just steps away. Late afternoon, gather with friends, family and neighbors for happy hour and dinner or a BBQ. After dinner, linger over coffee and conversation while enjoying the sunsets as the sun slowly sets behind the mountains of Vancouver Island. SUNSETS CAN BE SPECTACULAR!

This view unit occupies the first (ground) level of the Jacob's Landing Complex. Architecturally designed, and spacious with nearly 900 square feet, it features floor to ceiling windows in the living room and is decorated in a Mediterranean theme. Large entry way, with spacious living room, dining, and kitchen area, 2 bedrooms and a bath, complete the layout on the main level. A fully equipped kitchen, provides everything for the amateur to professional cook. Generous counter space facilitates food preparation. The cupboards and pantry are stocked with staples; flour, sugar, tea, coffee, canola/olive oil, and a wide assortment of spices. Check it out before you go shopping.

Enjoy the clubhouse, and year round Olympic swimming pool with adjacent jacuzzi. Adults and kids alike, enjoy the racquetball court, and the game room for ping-pong and foosball. Watch the kids splashing in the pool, rain or shine. Two tennis courts, just a stones throw away, serve the tennis enthusiast.

Birch Bay is well known for its warm, shallow water and a myriad of aquatic activities; clamming, crabbing, (with a license), wading and swimming, to name a few. Strict traffic control enables children to access the beach safely. Bike or walk from the front door. A well groomed scenic walking path follows the perimeter of the bay. For Alpine walking and hiking, the trails of Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker are only 90 minutes to the east.

Birch Bay and Whatcom County are a golfers paradise. Two championship golf courses within 5 minutes, serve the golf enthusiast/pro. Another six courses in Whatcom County are less than 30 minutes away.

Winter activities abound; the Mt. Baker ski area, Cypress Bowl, Grouse and Seymour Mountains of Vancouver, one hour away, and the international ski resort at Whistler, B.C., site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Two supermarkets and an outlet shopping center, within 15 minutes, provide convenient shopping. The Bellis Fair shopping center, Costco, Wal-Mart, and Trader Joe's, in Bellingham, are less than 30 minutes away. And all the scenic and shopping attractions of Vancouver and the cities of the Fraser Valley are less than 1 hour away. Ferry Terminals at Tsawwassen and Anacortes access Victoria and Vancouver Island, only 2 hrs. away.

Three international airports serve the Birch Bay area; Bellingham 20 minutes, Vancouver 45 minutes, and Seattle/Tacoma 90 minutes away. The cities of Mesa, Arizona, Los Angeles/Oakland/Palm Springs/San Diego, California and Las Vegas, Nevada now have direct flights to Bellingham and are only 2-1/2 hrs. away.

Bed linens, towels (kitchen & bath), beach towels (plastic colorful shovels and buckets for the children), dish washing and laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, and kitchen staples provided. Bring only groceries, and personal items. Our Birch Bay home has all the comforts, conveniences and amenities of our primary home and we do not expect our guests to accept less.

As advertised, the condo was clean, comfortable, with a great view. If you're looking for a great place to stay with family or friends, this is the place. The Birch Bay location gives you an easy drive to Vancouver, Mount Baker, or just exploring the area. Whatcom County has many good eateries and the Farmers Market in Bellingham on Sat. is always a great experience. Jack and Irene take pride in their property.

What a beautiful condo with a superb view of the beach and gorgeous sunsets. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen stocked with lots of spices, oils and tins of food. Even saw a cake mix in the cupboard. My grandson enjoyed playing with the sandtoys that were there and made some great friends. The place was very clean and looked exactly like the pictures. We had a geat dinner of halibut and chips on the patio at CJ's Beachhouse one night. Thanks so much Jack and Irene, we will definitly return.

Jack and Irene were great with setting up our 2 week stay at Thanksgiving. The condo was beautiful and well stocked. View of the Birch Bay was great. My family had the best time playing in the pool. Swimming in November in Washington , who would have thought. We love Birch Bay and can't wait to move there. Will recommend Jack and Irene's condo to family and friends. Thanks again for everything Jack and Irene.

This property was fantastic for our mother - daughter (a tween) get away. Everything was very clean and very well stocked! Being so close to the beach and restaurants was awesome, as was having the use of the hot tub and pool. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely recommend this property.

My husband and I spent a much needed week at this comfortable and lovely location right across the street from Birch Bay. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary that was in August and we were so happy to land our feet not only WA, but next to the Pacific. The condo was perfect for us and we were able to spend time on the coast, toured around Whatcom County and went into BC two days also. There is a very nice grocery market located about 4 miles east of the bay. Lots of great expresso stands around for such a small town (Blaine) and so close to the Canadian border. Whatcom Lake in Bellingham (south end) is amazing and if you can get to Lighthouse Park in North Vancouver, take the hike and enjoy the views! Found a few wineries and fishing locations within 25 minutes more or less of our condo also. It was so peaceful each day while we were there and we appreciated Jack and Irene's contact when were setting up our reservation. Thanks again for everything Jack and Irene. Hope to one day meet you both.

Irene and Jack could not have been more caring hosts, arranging early check in, offering use of all supplies in the condo and encouraging us to contact them once we checked in if we had any questions. The condo is beautifully and tastefully decorated, beds are comfortabel and the layout is conducive to families spending time together. Easy access to the front lawn for kids to run, access to the beach, and great sunsets. The pool is close and was visited at least three times a day. Never busy. And there is a games room for older kids. We met new friends, and a few old ones from Maui, and the kids were always playing with friends they had just met. Yet somehow, with all that was going on, it was a peaceful weekend, And oh the C shop! Within 15 minutes of arriving our eldest grandchild - 6 years old - asked whether we could come back next year! And the three year old whispered at our final breakfast that she wanted to stay another night . The stuff memories and traditions are built on. Thank you Irene and Jack.

Photos did not do this condo justice. Very clean, everything you could ask for in the well stocked kitchen. Great patio to sit out for morning coffee and in the evening and right across the street from the beach. Also in walking distance for groceries and restaurants. Will stay here again. Thanks Jack and Irene.

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2012

About the owner: Originally from British Columbia, Jack and Irene have long enjoyed the recreational attractions of BC and Washington state. Irene's parents took the family to Southern California, which led to a banking career and a Vice-Presidency at a major bank. Jack's career in engineering, took him from Western to Eastern Canada and the US, where he completed his graduate education and started a teaching career. Later, he returned to the west coast as a Professor of Management at the University of Southern California. They are car enthusiasts, students of history, and political science and enjoy frequent travel to Europe. San Diego is their California home, and Birch Bay their home in Cascadia. They invite you to share it with them.

Why the Owner Chose Birch Bay:
Jack's first visit to Birch Bay was at age 2. Since then we have sailed in the San Juan and Gulf Islands, skied at Mt. Baker, Whistler, climbed Mr. Shuksan, and biked on Vancouver Island and the Fraser Valley and throughout Whatcom county. Each summer we return for raspberry picking and salmon barbeques. We love this part of the world and this is a return to our roots.
