  We truly enjoyed our stay at One Charleston Place-the best part was Location, Location, Location! Right in the center of the island. We walked to resturants and to the park! The owners are wonderful and exteremly helpful. We have already booked for 2013 and will for many years to come!

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children.

  I have stayed here 9 years now and this is the best location on the island. The home is wounderful, and Jerry with Jolly Roger is a great person to rent from, very attentive. He has done everything to make our stay this year even better than past years. We are very pleased he is now the owner of this great home because he was a pleasure to deal with. Debra Smith

  We recently stayed at beach house E, trying St George Island for the first time. The beach house has great access to the beach, and having a semi-private backyard pool was awesome. It was only shared between the five houses, so if you have good neighbors, as we did, it is a big big plus. The Jolly Roger has everything you need, and I mean everything. There is no reason to look anywhere else. Just check in with them at arrival for the door access code and load up on supplies and trips. We bought a few beach chairs, but they also have the beach service. We also did a pirate shelling tour, which was enjoyable. They bury a little chest full of goodies for the kids to dig up. They also have many fishing charters available. I think we might try a shark fishing trip next time since our captain mentioned a high success rate. As for criticisms, on arrival the house was not spotless. There are a few cosmetic blemishes, the stove was dirty, there were spots on the shower door, and one of the glass shower doors was missing which made showers difficult for a few days. There were no basic supplies like toilet paper, and a trip to a store was immediately necessary. Other beach houses we have stayed at included the beach service for the week, which would have been nice. Everything was fixed and we were satisfied, just have to mention the problems we encountered for others, and most importantly that they were solved. As for the island itself, it should be noted for others that there are no mainstream stores or restaurants within an hour and a half drive. The local establishments are ok, but if you are used to Wal-mart and Longhorn Steakhouse, you will not find them here. Basically, there is a Dollar Store and a Piggly Wiggly in the Appalachicola area about 20 mins away. You will need to stock up on everything as far as regular household supplies go. I would suggest bringing items you are used to, as the stores are very limited on brands. The house is next door to an ocean front bar and restaurant, and there is a grocery store on the island, but they are very pricey and having a bar next door is not that great. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return based on the property itself, but would probably prefer Navarre or Destin as a destination. I checked rates on many beach houses, and I'd say it would be hard to find a better price for what you get at this location. The Jolly Roger has all you need, and is right across the street.
