We visited the Sanctuary during a long weekend to get away from our hectic day-to-day life and recharge. It lives up to it's name as a "Sanctuary." Ann greeted us upon arrival, spent time giving us an orientation to the cottage and getting acqainted. She made us feel very welcome & comfortable upon our arrival. The cottage is very clean and beautifully decorated. Guests are provided with restaurant recommendations and information about area attractions. The kichette is stocked with teas & coffee, and the bathroom is filled with spa-like touches. A special feature of the Sanctuary is the labryinth. We also recommend guests take advantage of this unique and beautiful exercise in relaxation. The Sanctuary also has amazing views of the mountains. We had a wonderful stay and are looking forward to our next visit. All ofRecommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This was our second stay at the Sanctuary. We absolutely love staying here! You cannot beat the location - at the base of Pikes Peak and within walking distance of many trail heads. And if you love wine, The Wines of Colorado is within walking distance. If you want to be close to a big city but don't want the hustle and bustle of one, this is the place to stay! Ann and Chuck are fabulous hosts! Ann has made this VRBO so cozy and her attention to detail is apparent. Comfy bed and linens? check. Toothbrush? check. Soap and shampoo? check. Chocolate? check! It truly is a home away from home. We cannot wait to go back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+.

The Rose was everything I expected it to be and so much more. The warm, welcoming pueblo with the thickest of blankets that keep you warm at night as you sleep with the windows open for some of that refreshing mountain air makes you forget that there is life outside of this bungalow. The Sanctuary is a quiet, peaceful place that is well kept and stocked with the little necessities even the most avid of traveler can forget from time to time. Located smack in the middle of the mountain range and directly across from Pikes Peak the Sanctuary was in the perfect location for an easy drive to all of Colorado Spring's major sights. The views at The Rose are nothing short of amazing and my stress level melted away as soon as I stepped inside the little tan pueblo house. Choosing to stay at The Sanctuary of the Rose for my visit in Colorado Springs was the best choice I could have made and will definitely make me consider choosing other small guest houses to stay at over a generic hotel any day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed in this cottage for our vacation to the Colorado Springs/Pikes Peak area. The cottage was in a quiet neighborhood across from the Pikes Peak road entrance. It was very quaint, comfortable, and clean. The setting and the views were fabulous. It was conveniently located to all of the area attractions; i.e., Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Manitou Springs. It was perfect for us and it truly exceeded our expectations. Ann and her husband Chuck were very friendly and we enjoyed visiting with them. I would highly recommend the cottage for anyone coming to this area. We absolutely loved it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This is an charming little guesthouse. My boyfriend and I stayed here during our Colorado Springs vacation. The owners were welcoming, kind, and helpful. While it is on the same property as the owner's home with other homes along the street, we felt the guesthouse was very private and quiet. As the house sits in the foothills of Pike's Peak, the view out your window is gorgeous. There is a labyrinth and a small porch and table to enjoy the surrounding nature. It's location was perfect, not being directly in the towns but a quick 5-10 minute drive from everywhere we wanted to go. It is practically across the street from a delicious restaurant/wine bar and the entrance to the drive up Pike's Peak. After a day of touring and hiking we were happy to come back to the "homey" feel of the guesthouse. We were very satisfied with our stay here and highly recommend it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This lovely place has joyful energy. It's really sweet and cozy and we loved walking the labyrinth. Plan on eating out because it's not equipped for cooking, but you'll enjoy everything else - including not having to do the dishes.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+.

I thoroughly enjoyed my week's stay in this charming, well equipped guest house! I especially enjoyed the ambience of the living area; special touches include the authentic kiva and the handpainted mural of the Garden of the Gods (courtesy of the innkeeper's tallented husband). The mini kitchen is well equipped for breakfast and lunches in. The bedroom is spacious with a comfortable mattress & top shelf bedding. The view from the porch is spectacular! Random sighting of wildlife (mule deer, fox & birds) are not uncommon. The owner is very friendly, knowledgeable of the area & easy to work with.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Owners Ann and Chuck Benson love welcoming guests to their beautiful property in Colorado. They both love the outdoors and Colorado and have traveled extensively in Colorado and around the world. They have lived in Colorado Springs since 1986 and have extensive knowledge about the area. Chuck is an architect and art historian. Ann is a part time dental hygienist and spiritual director. They live in the main house with their 2 cats, Max and Mim.
Why the Owner Chose Colorado Springs:
We purchased this property in 2007 after Ann had a dream of an adobe guesthouse that welcomed travelers and people in need of healing and restoration. The Sanctuary of the Rose officially opened its doors a year later.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Guests staying at The Sanctuary of the Rose will have the perfect Colorado experience of being 'in' the mountain foothills with beautiful mountain views, and yet will be close to all Colorado Springs attractions. The Sanctuary is the only guesthouse on the property it shares with the main house, and so it is quiet and private.
