Lovely Apartment with Wonderful Terrace on the Duomo

  Location! Location! Location! We walked everywhere. Everything seemed 5 minutes away. The place was super quiet, even in the middle of town, even during a political demostration. We have heard no motos, which is a first for our various places in France and Italy. We flew into the airport and took the bus into town (6 Euros/person) and walked to the apartment. If you come to a street of stalls, I recommend going behind them on the right to avoid the crowds. There is no elevator but the 2 flights of stairs are wide and easy to negotiate. The apartment is as advertised. Alessandra met us at the apartment and went over its details with us. Everything has worked. The place is flooded with light, from the terrace you look down into the courtyards of the buildings in the neighborhood. We were able to go to a museum in the morning and come back and eat lunch on the terrace and then go off to another place. The Market Centrale is not to be missed. We bought food there and at a small Conad nearby. The meat is very good. We ate at home most of the time, with a few meals out. Of all the art that is here in Florence, I think the number one thing to see is Michelangelo's David in the Academia, which is two blocks away. Nothing that you have seen will prepare you for its size. It is a very large statue. It is well presented in the museum. In the first week of November, we got there about 8:30 a.m. and thought for a moment that it was closed because no one was there at the door. When we got in, there were very few people inside. Later in the day, there was a line of people waiting to get in. So, come to Florence, stay in this wonderful place, and yes of course I recommend it to all my friends and perfect strangers as well.

  We have enjoyed four wonderful days in this beautifully furnished apartment. The owner 's description is completely accurate. I am writing this review while sitting on the balcony that overlooks a quiet courtyard but from which you can see the dome of the Duomo which is just a 5 minute walk away. The Medici Riccardi Palace is just across the street. You can easily walk to and from the train station. The apartment is set back from the street and very quiet. It was a pleasure to come back to at the end of a busy day of sight seeing and relax. There is a fully equiped kitchen. The local farmer's market is less than 10 minutes away and you can get all the fresh Italian fixings: vegetables, meat, breads, cheeses, and wine to make your own gourmet meals. The market is a great experience even if you are not going to cook. There are lots of good restaurants nearby. The bed is very comfortable. The washing machine was much appreciated as we were halfway through our trip. We hope to be able to stay here again in the future. It would be perfect for someone also looking for a longer stay or as a base to tour using local buses and trains.

  We just arrived and settled in. Lovely apartment. Beautiful view of the Duomo from the balcony! Alessandra was lovely. Looking forward to our stay here.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
