About this property

Cute cabin on beautiful 2.5 Acres along the Guadalupe River

Thank you for your interest in Camp Willow and our rustic cabins! We want to make all guests fully aware that Camp Willow is located on Lake Dunlap, where the dam collapsed 2 years ago, we are now a "river" type setting. We did build a floating dock for you to share with the guests that are renting the 3 other cabins. We also have 2.5 acres of cottonwood/cypress trees to sit under and a fire pit to hang out around! You still have access to the " river", so bring your kayak, fishing rod, stand up paddle board or just a float to float around!

The Red house is a 2 bdrm/1 bath house. it is the old farm house that has been completely gutted and updated inside and out but still looks like it did in the 1930's. It is located on 2.5 acres of green grass and huge cottonwood trees!Huge green lawn with 100 year old cypress trees. 1 bedroom has a queen bed with a door that opens directly onto the deck. The 2nd bedroom has 2 full size beds bunk style, in the den there are 2 queen sleeper sofas. Sleeps 8 max.

Family Get Together
Though I did not have the privilege of staying in the red house and I normally stay in the big gray house on our family trips to Camp Willow, I hear so many nice things about this place. Mostly house COLD the ac is and how roomy and cute the house is. The red house is a favorite. We always enjoy our stay here and each house is accommodating.

Great property,run down house
The camp property was nice and in a good location. However, the river pics are inaccurate. There is no sandy or rocky beach leading to the water. It's all overgrown brush and trash. The only way in the water is to jump from the dock and the water there is full of moss. The main reason we wanted this rental is so the dogs and kids could play in the shallow water but we didn't go in that water once. We couldn't get in the house for check in because the lockbox was not easy to figure out. We had to call the maintenance lady to open it up at night. There is no working tv, we had to go purchase a roku so we could play Netflix at night. The maintenance lady was very nice but we could tell she didn't know what to do and the owner wasn't very helpful to her on the phone at all. The shower is so tiny you can't even bend over to shave, barely enough room to turn around and it's very hot in there with no ac in that room. This place has great potential but it looks like they went the cheapest possible route. We would not stay here again

Cute property that could use some improvements
Our stay was acceptable. We stayed here for our trip to float the comal river. The property is very pretty, we loved being outside and seeing all of the big trees and the water, and the string lights were a nice touch. We didn’t get a chance to use the fire pit but it looks like a great place to hang out! As for the house, we had 2 couples and 4 singles. One couple in the queen room, one couple on the bottom bunk, a single on the top bunk, and the other three singles on the couches. They reported that the couches were preferable to pulling out the couch beds because those were flimsy and you could feel the metal frame inside. They said the couches themselves were acceptable to sleep on except one was a little short because we had a tall guy. The queen bed and the bunk beds were very comfortable though. Unfortunately there were not enough blankets for the couch sleepers, but we managed with the couple of extra blankets we brought and sharing the bedding that was available to us. There were plenty of towels provided to us and the kitchen had just about everything we needed to cook meals. The utensils and pans were a little dirty but I just washed them before using. The one big thing that was problematic was the shower. The shower itself is tiny, but the real problem is the water pressure. The shower head needs to be cleaned as some of the holes don’t shoot out any water, and the holes that do shoot water have such a tiny stream and low pressure. It is impossible to get a good wash in there after being on the river and being sweaty. Also, while we were comfortable enough during the day with the air temperature, a lot of us were sweating at night without being able to turn the a/c below 72 and having a comforter to sleep under. This property provided us ample space and our basic needs as well as a lovely outdoor space, but could be greatly improved with just a few upgrades. Namely the shower and more bedding options.

Wonderful getaway!
All was as advertised, except the main bedroom did not have a curtain to cover the large glass door. The house was missing several key curtains, which is an issue because it is close to neighboring houses and has substantial outside lighting that the visitor cannot turn off. Other than that, a fantastic place!

I have lived in Austin, Texas for 21 years and enjoy everything about this state including the Texas Coast and wonderful rivers like the Guadalupe. My wife and I love the water and enjoy bringing our kids including our black labs to the water.

Why they chose this property

The 100'+ tall cypress trees on this property are amazing. Lots of shade and cool water breeze make this a hidden gem. My Kids love the swimming, fishing, and the huge camp fire site and me and my wife enjoy the quiet, peaceful surroundings.

What makes this property unique

Great location, close to town but just far enough to avoid all the noise. The 100' trees and cool water make it a perfect destination for a quick getaway. If you want to have fun floating the river call our friends at Rockin R tubes and they will pick you up and take you home.
