My family chooses 218 Cabana Suites each year to get together because of the walkable convenience of everything we need & want, especially with children. We park our car in the lower-level parking lot for virtually for the entire trip and can walk to a variety of restaurants, shopping along the boardwalk, grocery store, the arcade & carnival rides by the ocean ($20 buys a daily arm band for limitless rides!). There is regular live music along the boardwalk, fireworks and movies by the lake - always some fun activity planned. We also LOVE the 218 unit that sleeps 4, the photos do not do it justice! Extended family rents other larger units at Cabana Suites. I woke up from a night on the queen sleeper sofa feeling refreshed, it was surprisingly very comfortable. Perhaps waking up to the rising warm sun & the gentle sound of the crashing waves helped a little too! 218 Cabana was well equipped & very clean. Appears to be recently renovated, new furniture, has flat screen TV’s, wifi and a wii for time in the room at night or in case of rain. The massive sliding glass doors do not glide like brand new ones but we like the fact that children can’t open them & go unattended on the balcony! We walked to the Sea Merchants Food Store a few blocks west & bought groceries to cook for dinner. Particularly fun, too, is the beach in front of Cabana Suites. There is a sand bar that makes a pool with gentle waves at the base of the beach making it perfect for small children & floats. Beyond the sandbar, when the tide is out, you can go into stronger waves with boogie boards (big help when you have small children and older children). Be sure to visit some famous favorites…Brits Donuts and the Fuzz Love Shop. There is enough variety of food to eat something completely different for a week - seafood, steaks, burgers, hotdogs, chicken, Mexican, Italian, Thai and Japanese. There is yummy fudge, sweets, ice cream, shaved ice and NY Pizza near the boardwalk. There are chair & umbrella rentals on the corner that also offer sandcastle making kits, beach bike rentals, etc. We got the full experience…kites on the beach, sandcastles, live music, great food, awesome beach, pool, walks to the pier, night life. Everyone, of all ages, had a blast! 5 stars to 218, we’ll be back every year and do highly recommend it to others!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

About the owner: My husband and I are retired. We are from the Durham area and used to love to make daytrips to the beach. And, then one day we decided, we love the beach so much, why not live there. So we did. We moved to Wilmington six years ago and soon after bought our condo. I would describe its original decor as 'Early Goodwill'. This would not do. Everything was given away and new everything come in. Guests have commented about how comfortable and homey it is there. This because it is our home at the beach just as we would want it to be. There are so many things to do at Carolina Beach. We sincerely hope our guests enjoy themselves.
